Should we repeat?
Teachers should teach with more of a variety of topics instead of learning the same topics every year. I believe this to true because students will be able to have a variety of knowledge, they would pay more attention because it isn’t the same thing repeated over and over again, and we would be able to find more options for our future. This would help out a lot of teachers who have students who don’t pay attention or do not care about listening to already known information. It also gives students a chance to unlock unfulfilled potential.
We would have a variety of knowledge because by learning new things, we will be able to have more information and be able to have more ideas. Children always want to learn more, they want to find something new so they can tell their family all about it. We need to be taught on how to use this information outside of high school as well. If we prepare early on and learn a variety of things, it will

Then the following year we forget about it and have to learn the same thing all over again, but this time we have to learn it for a longer period of time because we have to start at the beginning. This happens in a lot of classes and it always ends up with the same results. We spend too much time on the things we learned in the past that we can’t learn things that are important for the present. We should know what the teachers are talking about, but since we can’t recall a moment in time that we actually had fun with instead of it boring us, it doesn’t stick. We can’t pin an emotion to it, and so we are unable to recall it as easily. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, others quite a while to recall it. It depends on the person who is trying to remember what we learned in the past, but having something fun related to what we are learning could link the two together so that in the future we can recall
This investigation looks at retrieval failure in the long-term memory, particularly context-dependant forgetting. The theory behind retrieval failure is that available information stored in the long-term memory cannot be accessed because the retrieval cues are defective. Cue-dependant forgetting theory focuses on the assumption that the context in which we learn something is significant when we come to recall the information. Recall is better if it takes place in the same context as the learning. Research conducted on retrieval failure includes Tulving and Pearlstone (1966) who studied intrinsic cues by asking subjects to learn a list of words from different categories.
It would create a stronger future for our children, helps teach quality, and helps the parents that do not have the time to teach their children these things. Visualization: Imagine being able to leave high school with a better knowledge of how to balance a textbook, create a simple meal, pay taxes, or buy a house. We would all be more motivated to have an even more successful future.
It allows students to think differently and creatively while allowing them to see how they can change the world. Horace Mann’s knowledge theory promotes this idea. For example, Mann argued that practical knowledge is a tool that everyone was entitled to and that it was incredibly powerful. Mann explained that practical knowledge is what helps people compete in society (fairly). Knowledge helps people excel and change classes in society. It gives people a chance to contribute to society in a positive way. In many ways, Mann argued that it was a form of justice. For instance, Mann thought that once you learn to read and write, the world becomes filled with endless opportunities. I fervently agree that we still see Mann’s knowledge theory at work in today’s society. Many people have fought for the right for education and one way it has been enforced is through the no child left behind act. In order to change the world, we have to educate the students because they are our
...simply reuses the same approach and methodology each year, his class is likely to become boring and ineffective. In order to properly educate students, a teacher must always be looking for ways to improve his course—methods of making the knowledge seem more interesting and relevant to students. Originality and innovation not only maintain students’ attention, but also help keep teachers interested. Any subject matter will seem boring if an instructor teaches it the same way for twenty years. In order to maximize the effectiveness of their teaching, educators constantly must be in search of new methods of presenting content. Complacency, after all, is the first step on the road to ineffective instruction. Teachers, like their students, must always remain motivated by the desire to improve. Without this desire, the process of education becomes stagnant and empty.
It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through out life.
Students learn if they can work in large groups or if they work better individually. They also learn what kind of learner they are when it comes to taking in information given to them by the teacher. Not every student is the same, and they learn that is it okay to be different and to be proud of the person they are. Students learn how to deal with conflicts and resolve the matter in a calm fashion.
Altogether this study has helped us learn more about the brain and memory. Learning is measured thorough when a student can reiterate the right answer to a question. In this study, students in one conditions learned forging language vocabulary words in standard example of recurrent study exam trials. In three other conditions, once a student had correctly formed the language item, it was constantly studied but dropped from further testing. Repeatedly tested but dropped from the further study or just dropped from both the study and also the test. The results reveal the critical part of retrieval practice in combining education and shows that even college students seem naive of the fact.
Learning and memory are fascinating. The world could not function without either. They both are used in many different fashions in a wide variety of places. Learning and Memory have been carefully studied by professionals but are also well known and used by the common people on a daily basis. I am one of those common people, a student who is constantly learning and making the most of my memory. Since enrolling in The Psychology of Learning and Memory class I have come to the realization that I encounter situations in my life that exemplify the very concepts I have studied. I have also learned that it is beneficial to apply the lessons learned in class to my everyday life. Positive reinforcement, learned helplessness and serial recall are a few among many of the learning and memory models that have come to action in my life and in my final reflections surrounding the course.
Teachers will become familiar with the ways in which students learn best, allowing them to create a classroom that
I think that the nature of knowledge is relative. Not all children can learn in the same environment. I believe that if a child is put in an environment in which they cannot learn they should be placed in another environment so that they can. Some students learn at a slow pace and others learn at a fast pace. Then there are the students that learn better by lectures and others that learn better by activities. If you mix these children in the same class, than there are usually some lost kids in the class? I know that in my experiences with school, I would have never made it in a normal classroom since I learned so much slower than the other kids did.
Learning to tie shoes and ride a bike requires the encoding, storing, and retrieving of past observations of the procedure. With a lot of practice, children master these skills so well that they are able to remember them the rest of their lives. Memory is the storing of information over time. It is one of the most important concepts in learning; if things are not remembered, no learning can take place. As a process, memory refers to the "dynamic mechanism associated with the retention and retrieval of information about past experiences" (Sternberg 260). We use our memory about the past to help us understand the present. The study or memory in psychology is used in different ways, as well as there are many different ways to study how memory works in humans. In psychology there are many tasks used to measure memory, and different types of memory storages that human's use, such as sensory storing, or short term storing. There are also a lot of techniques that humans use to improve their memory, which they can use to learn, such as mnemonic devices. All these things can be classified as important issues in the study of human memory and ways of learning.
One of my favorite quotes from Stacey Green states, that if we don’t make learning relevant to our students, then they just learn the answer from the test and forget when it is done. (Vaques, Sneider and Comer page 2) When students learn because of memorization and are not engaged and interested in what is taught, the information becomes a victim of your short term memory, where as when it is
engage different learning styles, provide hands-on opportunities for use of specialist tools or equipment, reinforcing learning, supporting and motivating individual learning, fostering independent learning through extended learning.
Education will help you grow as an individual because the more knowledge you have the better understanding you will have in any given problem that will come your way. It will give you self satisfaction and will boost your self confidence. As an individual I know it will help me in a lot of aspects in my life. It will give me a financial stability because I will be able to land a good job and a high paying salary. I will learn how to spend my money and will learn how to invest it wisely. The more education I have the more respect and acknowledgement I will get from people. Knowledge is really important that is why we need to take it seriously. It is the strong weapon you can have to conquer this complex world. If you have a good education nobody can fool you and you will not tolerate any mistreatment from people. It will give you a better views in life if you are well educated.
