One reason a person may choose not to tell a particular story is, because the story is embarrassing. A person not telling their story can discourage from taking risks that could help you get ahead in this world. Another reason is because the story is a private matter that the individual did not wish to share. So I’m here to share my story with you. A story can be very embarrassing to tell others. I was so ashamed so I did not want to bring attention to myself. Therefore I would not get extra credit on my class work.
Stories are necessary aspects in our everyday life. From helping us remember a loved one to preparing for an interview, stories are extremely beneficial. I hear stories everyday and they help me as I overcome the loss of my favorite uncle. He was a great man and is still present everyday because of the impact stories of his great legacy have. Without stories, I would be sad every day that he is no longer physically with me, but I always hear of the great things he did and it consoles and comforts me greatly.

I have searched the entire web with no success looking for a story that I can relate to. I read many great stories and they were all inspiriting in their special ways, some were very closed to my story, and they were closed to bring tears into my eyes, yet they were not close enough. I search for months, until I realized that we all had a unique story.
Is there anything that you’re hiding that you’re even afraid to tell your best friend? Just walking in the halls and not knowing who you can talk to about your situation due to the pressures from society that may restrict you from acting the way you want or do what pleases you in order to meet social standards of status, success, gender roles, etc. It can cause us to lie in order to meet society's expectations and feel dignified or proud in society. Sometimes society tries to influence so much that we rebel against it, and do what isn’t “normal” anymore.
By telling stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain truths. You make up others. You start sometimes with an incident that truly happened, like the night in the shit field, and you carry it forward by inventing incidents that

Stories are created over time through our attempts to connect events in our experiences and derive meaning from them (Morgan, 2000). Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Narrative methodologies assume that individuals have a various set of skills, capabilities, beliefs, values, and commitments that will assist them in reducing the influence of troubles in their lives. During the practice of narrative therapy the client is encouraged to deconstruct and critically appraise their story in search for new meanings (White & Epston, 1990). White (2000) believed that if one can change the way they describe their lives and the events within, there will be a change for the better.
When you tell a story, do you tend to include background information, or do you keep more strictly to the point? Why?
“ this isn’t your fucking place . ” THEY’RE TWO TEAKETTLES : matt’s already reaching the boiling point while frank’s heat has only just begun to rise . no matter what they’re both boiling throwing off waves of DISCONTENT . they always end up here , always meet at a head . it’s getting old . Personal narratives allow you to share your life with others and vicariously experience the things that happen around you. Your job as a writer is to put the reader in the midst of the action letting him or her live through an experience. Although a great deal of writing has a thesis, stories are different. A good story creates a dramatic effect, makes us laugh, gives us pleasurable fright, and/or gets us on the edge of our seats. A story has done its job if we can say, "Yes, that captures what living with my father feels like," or "Yes, that’s what being cut from the football team felt like."
Storytelling has been used throughout time, allowing history and religion to be passed down from generation to generation and with the introduction of technology, storytelling has reached a whole new audience. Recording One I do not remember the year, or exactly what season it was, but I can still distinctly smell the formaldehyde and hear the screams of damaged minds trapped behind their walls. I remember the sky that night, when she first arrived it was clear, but when the rusted van pulled into the drive, the clouds destroyed any sight of the stars. I remember the two men hauling out a screeching demon of a child, no more than perhaps ten years of age. Her movements were glitch, her hair tousled and her clothes spattered with blood. I remember thinking to myself "This isn't real Banks, this child didn't murder someone."

For at least fifteen years of my life, I kept my emotions bottled up, my secrets under lock and key. Not once did I even question if I could talk about my life to anybody, I couldn’t. Instead of learning to talk about my life, to talk about my feelings, to talk about my troubles and my hardships and my state of being… I learned to be ashamed. I learned wrong.
