Shigeru Miyamoto: One Of The Most Important Game Designers In History
“I wanted to make something very unique, something very different”- Shigeru Miyamoto. And that’s exactly what Shigeru Miyamoto did, especially for his time. Miyamoto is arguably one of the most (If not, THE most) important and influential game designers of all time. Being the creator of beloved franchises like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, it’s almost impossible to imagine what the gaming industry would be like if Miyamoto would not have joined Nintendo, in fact, the gaming industry might not even exist now if it was not for him. Over these next few paragraphs, I will prove to you that Shigeru Miyamoto was a very important developer by showing you examples in

A few months later, a problem occurred for Nintendo with the release of a game they released called Radar Scope. It was some-what successful in Japan, but the American audience hated it. Nintendo almost went bankrupt because of the lack of arcade cabinets sold, so they made a cost saving measure. They put Miyamoto in charge of making a new game to put inside of unsold Radar Scope cabinets. With this task, Miyamoto developed the hit arcade game, Donkey Kong. When Miyamoto first showed it to the Nintendo of America staff, they did not like how the game was different from the maze-like and shooting games at the time and thought that it would be a failure. Even though the Nintendo of America staff thought it was not going to be a success, the American audience loved it, and it started to pull Nintendo out of it’s financial problems. After the huge success of the Donkey Kong, Miyamoto’s career at Nintendo really started to take off. He released two sequels to the original game, Donkey Kong Jr. and Donkey Kong 3. Miyamoto then decided to switch his focus away from the Donkey Kong franchise and into something entirely new. He used the hero from Donkey Kong, originally named Jumpman before it was changed to Mario, as a base for his new game, titled Mario Bros. Again, that game was a huge hit. Very soon after Mario Bros. was released in Japan, Nintendo launched its first home console, the Family Computer (Nicknamed the Famicom, called the Nintendo Entertainment System in America). Miyamoto developed many games for the Famicom through-out its life cycle, but the two most important games were Super Mario Brothers and The Legend of Zelda. Super Mario Brothers was packaged with the Nintendo Entertainment System at its launch and they were two of the major games and consoles that brought video games back into popularity after the video game crash of ‘83.

He has achieved many things in his career, countess awards and fans, and has made big impacts in the world of animation. Not only did his style influence the more realistic anime style today, but the success of Nausicaa made anime much more respected by many people. Also, Princess Mononoke became the highest grossing Japanese film in Japans history in 1997. But, the achievement he probably values and is proud of most is the impact he has made on the children and viewers of all ages who see his works. Through hard work and with a passion for what he does, Hayao Miyazaki has truly become one of the most successful animators in all of Japan.
Getting inspired is something that can happen unexpectedly. A single thing can just set the stage for an amazing creation to come about. Much of what people are exposed to due to the media and also literature can really affect someone’s life. Hayao Miyazaki is a film director, animator, screenwriter and also producer. He is someone who’s work really changed my perspective on animation and also the conventional idea of a hero.
Walt Disney entry into the world of technology was because it interested him most making him to become a geek in every technology he touched. His venture in technology even changed the future of US technology emanating from his animated films (Kaplan, 2011). He was able to change a popular culture that is embodied the American dream, by revolutionising the entertainment industry through creating cartoon that combined sound and picture to promote a theme park that became a national obsession. Consequently, it is clearly able to say that Walt Disney led the development of American animation industry and people around the world became attention because of it.
In the console-gaming world people know Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft may be the largest and richest software company in the world, but it’s unknown when it comes to console gaming. Microsoft is counting on the Xbox to change that perception. Gamers may not be willing to take a chance with the Microsoft Xbox, even if it is far superior to any console ever made. Nintendo Gamecube is nothing if charismatic. Nintendo’s new machine is half the size of any other console and looks like a toy with its brightly colored plastic shell and handle. It’s destined to be home of such popular games as Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and Kirby. Nintendo Gamecube seems mismatched as it goes up against the Microsoft Xbox and the Sony Playstation 2 (a multimedia mayhem that Sony says it’s supposed to be “The Future Of Entertainment”). All this makes you think; what makes Nintendo believe it can possibly go up against the ultra-sophisticated Xbox.
Mythology is constantly being reincarnated into new mediums. It began centuries ago as oral stories being passed from generation to generation and has weathered the test of time to present day. Mythology influences current day literature, movies, and even video games. One video game that heavily draws on mythological themes is The Legend of Zelda created by Japanese video game designer and producer Shingeru Miyamoto. Through Zelda, gamers are exposed to and are able to play through a hero’s journey filled with mythological motifs such as the idea of creation and destruction, the struggle between light versus darkness, the subconscious in relation to reality, and the idea and distortion of time.

The case study highlighted that the new game Wii introduced by the company had the ability to attract individuals considered non-gamers or casual gamers. The Wii was not as powerful or technologically advanced as the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but its success lies in its ability to provide a new means of playing video games. The innovative design of the Wii’s controller, which had built in motion sensors, created a whole new gaming experience for users - on...
Miyazaki is well known creating well-developed characters and Princess Mononoke is a good example showing these qualities along with a strong message on environmentalism and an underlying theme of feminism.

Video games, specifically home consoles, came to the US on October 18th 1985. The NES. Most games around that time were all bright and cheerful looking games such as Mario, Kirby, Legend Of Zelda, and Pokemon a few years later on the Gameboy. But as other game developers appeared, new types of games were made. The shooter genre and fighting genre of games came mostly on the Xbox and PS systems with a couple exceptions being on a Nintendo console(Doom, Goldeneye, Smash bros). Now shooter games
There are few who have had as enormous an impact on our culture and entertainment as Walt Disney. As co-creator of Mickey Mouse he helped to create the most popular and well-known cartoon character in the world. As the founder of Walt Disney Studios, he was an artist who changed animation and film-making forever and has been delighting and inspiring audiences for nearly 100 years. And, of course, when he brought us Disneyland he created a place unlike any other, one that still thrills the imaginations of children and adults today.
Video games have come a long way. They have evolved from the simple game of Pong into a complex, multi-platform, multi-genre, multi-billion dollar industry.
Video Games are a rapidly growing industry; developers have increased along with it. Companies that put their full time and energy into the development and marketing of their games originally held dominion over the video game industry. However, this isn’t true today. Today, video games can be made by a couple of people in a basement of a house. This doesn’t mean that the quality of the game is any less impressive, which can happen obviously, all this means is that making and developing video games is more accessible to the open public and not just to large companies and corporations. Which, in and of itself, is a remarkable achievement. People can now make a game that they would want to see and play, and not have to wait for a company to hopefully make it, or something like it.
