Caring is an instinctual part of my make up. Being the first and eldest daughter I have cared for my younger siblings from a young age. As an organised at home mother, at present I am currently working on gaining the experience and skills I will need to progress through life towards my career purpose and personal life desires.
I am natural care giver this stems from my mother being a qualified social worker and a active foster mother of two. The areas that interest me are mental health and counselling. This is due to the fact that whilst at school students would confined in me worrying issues. I was always willing to help and supportive. I have a younger brother who is an undergrad, currently completing his BA Hons degree in psychology so it is inevitable that I would chose social work and social sciences.

However, I have now come to realise that i would much rather dedicate myself to a more career i feel would develop myself and others on a deeper level of understanding ourselves as people and how we can all sustain, encourage or help to provide a better standard of life.
Interacting and caring for children, and supporting those who surround me throughout my years so far has taught me a lot about patience, understanding and listening. These are attributes that I am confident in carrying into any situation to aid in order to generate positive outcomes. My fun welcoming and honest nature is a huge part of my life, I am close to the friends and family that I have and built good consistent relationships with, which I depend on and equally they rely on me. This includes being honest, supportive, kind and ultimately being 100% me, which means admitting my weaknesses and strengths alike and seeking out support help and comfort when I need
My choice to become a part of the childcare profession was not just made casually. This decision was the result of a thought process about what I wanted to do with my life. I finally took a career in childcare because I believe that it is one of the most important duties performed in the community. Within this profession, I hope to find both personal and professional accomplishment. Hence, it is my desire to be a part of a noble profession.
Prior to working in my field, it seemed that I waited a very long time to be in the position I wanted to be in. When I first started working in my field I was very excited. Working as a Community support Worker, I often thought to myself that my current position would be the closest I would get to a social worker position. I was ecstatic about my achievements until I realized that I still was unsatisfied and I wanted more. When I realized my current career as a community support worker, was not enough for me I decided to advance in my field. I made the conscious decision to return back to school for my masters and obtain a master’s degree in mental health counseling. This process has been extremely rewarding and challenging. Although, I have been doing a wonderful job with my schooling, it has been very difficult to balance work, school, and family. While attending graduate school, I have been able to successfully complete my coursework and maintain quality grades however I have not been able to spend much time with my family as I would like. This transition has been extremely challenging, however it has taught me exceptional time management skills. It also has taught me how to deal with change. I am now open to change because I believe it is necessary for
At work I make sure clients are satisfied and happy following my day to day duties like creating safe and positive living environment whereas at school, I complete my course works and any given assignments on time. The support worker role requires me sometimes to work different hours, which is not a problem on my side, to have the ability to get on with people of all ages and backgrounds and gain their trust, knowledge of the needs of different client groups. At work non-judging attitude, computer literacy and administration skills, mental strength to cope with challenging situations and clients, an understanding of safeguarding issues around vulnerable adults, team work and patience have helped me with experience to build more confidence in my abilities, and confirms that I want a career in social
My interest persisted and grew as I began to see how my efforts had the ability to improve the lives of people around me. I first noticed this on a personal level as friends would come to me for advice or for me to listen to their struggles and provide comfort. No matter how mundane, horrific, unique, or common the story was, I listened to them in a genuine and non-judgmental manner. I truly enjoyed hearing people’s stories and providing comfort and advice when needed. These moments helped me realize the power of simply being there for someone, and it increased my interest of pursuing a career where I can support those who need it most. I want to become a social worker so I can provide direction to those who may not be able to get it from other sources, just like I have done for various people throughout my life.
