As a young child, I had always dreamed of going to college. Growing up in a blue collar, lower class family, college was never an option. Times have changed and at 29 years old, I am prepared to take on this challenge of going back to school. The three things that motivated me to start college has been the easiest for me to answer. My main reason is to obtain a rewarding career. I want to give up my job for a career that I enjoy going to, where I make more money. Being financially stable would put my mind at ease, as opposed to making just enough to make it until the next paycheck. I wanted to go back to school to overall better myself. Remembering my long term goals will be the key to my success. Every morning, I wake up at 5 am to go to a job that I hate. Every time I clock in, it reminds me that I’m doing what I have to do to be happy. Just as well, every time I clock out, I am excited to hurry and get home to do my school work. It may seem silly, but these little reminders help keep my mind where it needs to be. They are simple reminders of why I need to continue to stay focused and keep up on my school work. I know that college is not a fix-all and I will still have to work for what I want. However, I will have a better chance at getting what I want with a degree.
