Why I Want To Be Theater Arts Or A Psychometrist?

As a student of Oilton High School and the 2016 graduating class, I am planning to attend The College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri. As a child, I always had many dreams and goals I wanted to achieve; now that the time is here to do so, it is a bit terrifying and overwhelming. With countless dreams as a youngster, from being a Walmart cashier to a rock star, it is now time to choose the ultimate dream for my life. Will it be Theater Arts or a Psychometrist? Since I was old enough to talk, I have always enjoyed singing and acting. I was always the lead role in school and church performances. I grew up going to Branson, Missouri quite frequently and attending the many shows in town. Performing on one of those stages has always been a dream of mine, however; I didn’t think I would be good enough because the only practice I was getting was at church and school, which was very little. Finally, one day a teacher came up to me and asked if I wanted to have a role in the upcoming melodrama at the Boomtown Theater. Students with special or specific needs have always had a special place in my heart. I have been a part of Special Olympics for the past two years. In the eighth grade, we had Kindergarten reading buddies whom we would read with every Friday and also help with a small worksheet. There was a certain little boy who had issues concentrating and would get frustrated when he did not know something. No one wanted this little boy because they did not want to deal with him or could not control him. Every Friday, this was the child I wanted to help; I could talk to him and help him in a way others couldn’t. Today, as this little boy is a fourth grader, he still comes up to me and gives me a hug when I see him. I hope I made a positive impact on his life because he definitely had one on
