One of my dreams is to someday be able to play in NBA. Ever since I started liking basketball it has been a dream of mine. I probably can make it if I put enough work in, it’ll be really hard, though. I’m pretty short, so getting in will be harder, but it’s still a possibility. Why did I tell you about this? Well, NBA players make a lot of money. A whole lot of it. They live in big houses, wear expensive clothes, buy foreign cars, and give a lot of service to communities. That last part is really important. These players do a lot to help kids in bad situations and try to spark positive change. One example is Lebron James. Even though I’ve hated him as a player, (mainly for always eliminating my favorite team from the playoffs) I can’t deny the great things he does. He gives out scholarships to kids in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Scholarships. Scholarships can be hard to get, and getting through college without one will result pretty badly. What he is doing with giving out those scholarships is …show more content…
And that’s exactly what I’ll do, so I’ll be the change by going to college. It’s been something that my parents have always told me to do. They have always said that it’s best going to college. With them always saying that, it has really made me want to go to college. Some kids don’t have their parents pressuring them to do the same, so I want to be that voice. College is important, and it’s important that kids know why it’s their best option. Like I said before, I want to give them scholarships too. Making kids go to college isn’t enough for me, I want it to not cost them a thing. College is really expensive, and giving them the opportunity to go for free would not only make it easier for them at the moment, but better in the long run too. I’ve heard plenty about how people never really recover from paying student loans and how they’re in debt for the rest of their lives. I don’t want that for myself or the
One of my future careers are being a NFL player (professional football player) I want to be this because it’s fun and you can hit and tackle people the responsibilities are show respect for team policies and understand your role. If you want to have a good work environment then you have to be on a good team or you have to be really good so you can buy a better work environment. If you want to play football you have to go to college for two or three years or maybe more. The average
The NBA can afford to risk alienating a few kids or slow sales of throwback jerseys, because portraying their players as professionals earns $350,000 more corporate dollars from another sold commercial spot. And this is the money that they want (Not Exactly Rocket Science). In conclusion, the players of the NBA have the abilities of a professional, are paid like professionals, and are powerful role models among the youth of society.
As a fan of basketball, the NBA has always been the center of every discussion I partake in whenever basketball is involved. Since its inception in the late 70s and the popularity of the American National Basketball Association, basketball has been cemented as one of the most iconic games played today. Whether a fan or enthusiast watches the game live or on replay, the high-voltage intensity and addicting thrill of every turnover and every score made just makes the person go wild. Of course, in every game, some people often wonder how much money the players have each season. I am one of those people who often think about how wealthy these players are and the more
According to Trade Schools, Colleges and Universities “Many of America's top-performing high school students never apply to the most challenging colleges and universities even though they have the ability to succeed at them. They often come from minority and low-income households and end up pursuing more affordable, less-selective schools instead.” College can be a burden to many students in a variety of different ways, but the most common reason is due to funds. Making college free for students will help this problem by increasing jobs in the work industry that require degrees, they should be affordable to all people at all cost, as well as the funds should be completely cut off because it would increase jobs and help America's economy grow.
However, a college education is one of the most valuable things a student could have, so why should it be free? Paying for a college education is like investing in the future. One cannot make earnings in the stock market without first contributing some of their own money. Therefore, students should not be entitled to the benefits of a college education without paying the price. Paying for college also teaches students a valuable lesson. Students learn how to manage and budget their money which will set them up for success in the future when they have to finance a car, house, bills,
Once a person graduates from high school they are left with a difficult decision, wither to go to college or not. Some families this is not an option, their kid will go no matter what, but many students do not want to go to school and have so much student debt by the time they finish that they will have to pay off that they decide that college is not worth it. According to Craig Smith in his article in Education Digest he says, “too many families cannot afford to send their children to college so the student is left with making the decision on wither to go to college and collect debt or just skip college altogether” (Smith 42). He has a good point. Too many students feel like they have to pay so much yet they are not really getting much out of it. Smith later on in his article states, “We must stop balancing our state and institutional budgets on the backs of students and families” (Smith 46). School should not be all about money, it should be about helping the students get the education that they need so they can make it out in the big world. If a student is so worried about how they are going to pay their school bill they are not going to be focusing on their class work and it ...
In turn, these students can grow up and get jobs in specific areas and re-teach this knowledge to the next generation. Adults already have enough on their plate dealing with monthly car notes, gas and light bills. Why not de-stress your nation and reduce the amount of tuition your child
Some may also ask who is going to pay for these kids to go to college for free. Matt Bruenig is a famous writer that writes on U.S. problems such as poverty. In one of his latest articles he states,” The main problem with free college is that most students come from disproportionately well-off backgrounds and already enjoy disproportionately well- off futures which makes them relatively uncompelling targets for public transfers.” In other words this is saying that those who can not afford college are low-class and are comfortable in their state. It is also suggesting that others should also just be okay with it.The same article also states,” Without understanding and presenting student benefits as welfare handouts...would be at worst destructive and at best totally pointless.” This is saying it is no use in college being free so there is no need to fund it
No students should be in debt for their education. If students can’t go to school for free, they should make it affordable. Without financial aid families would not be able to pay for the students’ tuition. The country should make it easier for those who have kids that are juggling work and school. Having an education gives everyone a better opportunity for their future.
Imagine walking home from school, after just failing another exam and not doing enough work to pass the class; however, that's not the focus of this in life. Instead, there is the worry of having enough money to eat, live, and survive. Growing up is a challenge, with “Marigolds” by Eugenia Collier and “Mother to Son” by Langsten Hughes detailing these struggles of growing up. Whether it’s with encouraging perseverance or with the loss of childhood. Both Langsten Hughes and Eugenia Collier explore the concepts of childhood in connecting ways.
As entertainers, athletes are paid for fan satisfaction. The more fans that want to see an athlete perform, the more the athlete is paid. In fact, most athletes, even those who make millions of dollars for each flubbed fly ball, dropped pass, and missed free throw, feel they probably deserve even higher salaries; the reason being that they’re still in demand. While certain athletes may never bring a championship ring to their team, or even bring home a winning season, those athletes will always pack the stands. Fans in the stands translate into ticket sales. Ticket sales can potentially lead to national television broadcasts. Inevitably, the formula of ticket sales plus national television broadcasts leads to massive revenue, and this is how owners and organizations can afford to pay players like Michael Jordan $25 Million for his retiring season alone. However, how does society (as a whole) benefit from these over-inflated salaries? In short, it doesn’t.
Athletes work hard for their money. Athletes work hard all year round. They also get summer jobs or practice with their team a lot. Along with that they all play very hard at their games and during practice. Athletes deserve their money because they work hard for it.
College should be free but only to those who have earned it. those who know that not only it is a right but also a big responsibility, everybody must be given an opportunity and a chance to change, a change to look foward to change for
