Service has a special place in my heart. In the past, I have learned that I obtain satisfaction through my work of helping others, it goes hand in hand with my personality. I have always thought that a career in the medical field would be accommodating to this caring/giving mentality I have acquired. Having a career where I would be able to assist someone in need and possibly positively alter their life would be a dream for me. I felt like nursing would allow me to live this dream on a daily basis, yet I thought more in debt about my life goals and ambitions. For instance, I do not want to work in a hospital. Previously explained, planning was the biggest part of starting this project. We had most of the pieces to the puzzle, now it was time to put them together. When organizing a car wash multiple factors are easily looked over. You take into account: supplies, location, time/weather, and advertising. Braxton and I shopped around at different locations looking for the cheapest prices on the supplies we needed. We made a list of items needed, such as: sponges, rags, towels, buckets, water hoses, and soap. Gratefully, we had a handful of the materials needed. This allowed us to keep expenditure to a low twenty-five dollars. Next we had to come up with a location for the event to be placed. These were a few of the factors which molded this decision: easily accessible water source, large space that could offer multiple traffic lanes for both people waiting and for cars in the process of being washed. The “Pike” house was the perfect location. It had two water spouts, and a large enough parking lot for our customers and any “through traffic.” With a supplies purchased and a location selected, it was time to plan exactly when we were going to have it. This was the most specific and in depth part of planning our car wash. We started with picking a day of the week and time we thought would have the most prevalent turnout of customers. Wednesday afternoon was chosen. This was due to numerous hours implementing synergy and cohesiveness, throwing back and forth positive and negative elements that would be affected. Such as, some students go home on the weekend. This could have dwindled both our customer and volunteer pool. We also took into consideration the forecast of the days following. People wouldn’t want to spend money to wash their car if it were going to rain soon after. The stars aligned and we found the perfect date of April 4th to perform the action physical task.
