I have always been a hard worker and I have had to overcome many obstacles. I know that many people entering law school are probably going to say the same exact thing. How do I stand out from the rest of the pack? I have had tutors growing up along with along with speech classes and countless “all nighters”. What did I learn thought out all that? Is that when I set my mind to achieve a goal no matter how great the challenges, I willing to workout night and day for it. Again, I am sure many people applying to law school are probably going to say the same thing. Yet, for me you can see through my GPA at hope. Once I set my eyes on going to law school, you saw a huge increase in GPA, in addition too community services, involvement of hope and …show more content…
I know on the outside it may seem like much but, the amount of budgeting, planning, and overall handling of many different situations has helped me grow as an individual. I have been an active participant of both dance marathon and relay for life. Recent have been helping out the Red Cross with random community services events. Along with all that, I have held 4 different jobs down while at hope college and 2 political science internships (not all at the same time though).
I am a double major in political science and psychology. The political science major is on the pre-law track. While my psychology major is more focused on the understanding people and their interaction in social and professional situation rather than the disorders and clinical aspects. My overall GPA is roughly a 3.3. Political science major gpa is 3.75 and my psychology major is 3.1.
I hold myself to being the best me I can be. No matter what I am doing, if I am going to do it, I am going to do it to my fullest ability. I rarely skip, and I am always engaged. I think you want something you should go out and get it and do not let anyone tell you different. Yet, at the same time, you have to enjoy life and enjoy the people around you. Hence I see my self as well rounded Hope College individual who worked hard academics, socially, spritely, emotionally and overall being a best me in my past 4 years at Hope
Achieving academic excellence while obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice is the first step towards becoming financially able to support my son by working as a law enforcement analyst. While working on my degree, I am determined to maintain my 4.0 GPA, a challenge that demonstrates my ability to learn and overcome obstacles, as well as. This commitment to maintaining my GPA requires me to work on having a positive attitude, as well as learn about discipline, self-management, and hard work, all which are beneficial to me in my field of work. I chose criminal justice because it requires thinking about and analyzing facts to solve crimes while helping and protecting people, something I have always felt strongly about. Since I was
Involving in a national level campaign such as Pulse Polio Campaigns, in charge of arranging and dispensing the vaccines helped to reach a larger population. Coordinating and working as a team with different healthcare people helped to deliver a comprehensive care for my patients. Being the team leader for the non-profit charity providing financial help with free medications, and food helped me understand my patients beyond just the medical diagnosis, but the complex web of multiple factors in their overall health. I hope to use my experiences to continue working with community into my residency and also in my

December 2 2017 Bryant Langheim Final Paper Do you ever wonder who the person is who helps attorneys or who you speak to to get an attorney? The answer is a paralegal, and that is the career I’m interested in going to school for. I have a lot of strengths, and I will talk about becoming a paralegal. That’s not all, though. I will also explain the steps and the process for how to get a job in criminal justice.
My peers often believed that my choices would change and I was just hoping that their state of mind too would alter. My dreams of becoming a lawyer were slowly approaching as I reached the age of 18. High school teachers of mine often attempted to sway me in a different direction since I was not as outspoken as my fellow classmates. However, I would inform them just as I have revealed to others that my dream is everlasting and that my path is clear. I will become a lawyer today, examining the course of my short academic years—spending only 17 years in school beginning with Head Start.
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
When I was a young girl, my older brother always did very well in school and he and the rest of our family were always very proud of his work. As I grew older and noticed all of my brother’s achievements I decided that I wanted to not only achieve what he had, but to also achieve things that he had not. Because of this strive to reach and surpass the standards that my brother had set, I developed into a person with great determination. Throughout my life I have always set goals for myself and then did everything I could in order to meet those goals. This aspect of determination in my personality has allowed me to get to where I am today, a student of George Mason University. Whenever I am faced with an obstacle, such as a hard class, I make
I set my goals high because I fully dedicate myself to achieving the goal at hand. It is with this same determination that I apply to law school, aspiring to advocate for those who do not have a voice. I hope to address specific injustices impacting vulnerable groups, such as (…I have to add something). I look forward to acquiring essential skills in law school that will effectively prepare me to make the changes I long to see a reality. Olivia showed me what determination and resilience looked like. Though I will never be able to repay Olivia, the lessons she taught me that have become an integral part to who I am today. Like Olivia, I am determined to make my dreams come true, with, of course, a smile on my face the whole
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to be better prepared for my major, I want to be better then the next person with the job credentials. I want to major in Social Work and Criminology. I dream to be a counselor or an clinical service social worker. I want to help people who need someone there for them someone who can guide them or even just talk too. Another reason is because I would be the first in I would be the first in my family to go to college. I feel in some type of way I am setting an example for my parents and my brother that they too can go back to school. Lastly is simply because I love school. I love knowing more and more each day. College is not for everyone, but I will be successful by grasping the benefits, preparing for the problems, taking heed from experts, and working on strategies to be successful.
Being involved in many community organizations, I have assisted people from all walks of life.. For example, one week I volunteered at a senior bingo night at a retirement home facility, and the next week, I wrote letters to our troops. The National Honor Society has also given me the opportunity to give back to my own school. Last year, our organization did a gardening project in my school's courtyard revitalizing the landscape
I am currently in National Honor Society, Drug Free Club of America and in the Service Learning program at HHS. In Service Learning, I travel to a service site every Tuesday and Wednesday during the school week. I have also been interacting with communities that were unknown to me before. For example, I volunteered at a low-income apartment complex in Cuyahoga Falls, sorting food cans for the
“Passion may be the linchpin of grit, but it’s not the only element. Ambition is right on its heels... Then there’s optimism, a trait that Dean Keith Simonton of the University of California at Davis finds is extremely common among high achievers. ‘It helps them hang in there in time when they have to overcome all of these obstacles,’ he observes. ‘They just really believe in the end that they’re going to win, and until they do, they’re just going to keep on pushing…’”(p. 165).
Some call me argumentative- I prefer the term dialectical. It is true, I enjoy debates more than the average person. Nothing compares to the thrill of triumphantly dispelling an opponent’s case and swaying an audience to my side. On top of that, I have a sincere appreciation and talent for writing, reading comprehension, and grammar. With these attributes, I feel destined for a career in law. Yet, it is more than just my personal tastes that have led to my interest in legal services. Growing up with a disorder, I have developed empathy for people with disabilities and a desire to help them by advocating for their rights. As a lawyer, I hope to take action to make the world a better place to live in for people with conditions similar- and maybe not so similar- to mine.
I have a lot of confidence in succeeding in both my small and large goals, especially after learning how much my personality traits are inclined with my current major and my career goals. The personality tests I have taken confirmed to me that I have found a career path that I truly enjoy and that I know I will be able to succeed in. After struggling the first time I attended college, in major I was not suited for, I failed. Now that I have taken on a major that I deeply care about, the work load does not seem as overwhelming. It proves that when you care about something, it is much easier to continue and succeed. Now that I not only have a strong desire to accomplish my goals, but also a strong action plan to achieve them, I feel that there is nothing holding me back from achieving even the biggest goals I have for myself.
I observed other people's stories. Their successes, struggles, dilemmas and hard choices. My observations lead me to this decision. I want to attend law school because I want to be a lawyer but not just any lawyer. I know precisely how I want to and can add value to the legal community.
