“I hated every minute of training, but I said, don’t quit. Suffer now, and live the rest of your life as a champion,” were the famous words Muhammad Ali said to himself every time he trained for a fight. The quote expresses how Muhammad Ali would never give in to his thoughts of tiring and cutting corners, because he knew the shorter time he spent training, the farther away he would get from his ending goals. Even though training for a sport is different than performing school work; the concept of motivation to work on different projects and . I have trained my entire life for my end goal, to play college baseball and possibly play at a level higher than college. With all of the training that I have done in the past that there is a force within …show more content…
The constant soreness within my limbs have become a daily part of my life. Even though my body says to stop, my mind will keep on telling my body to go further. Just as Muhammad said to himself, I told myself every time I thought of giving in to the thoughts of discouragement,”I will not tire, I will not falter, I will not fail.” These few words hang on a plaque above the treadmills within the training facility I go to; I would say them over and over again to get the motivation to do: one more rep, one more round, one more run. The motivation I got from this plaque kept me going, and helped me achieve a better for a greater gain. The gain of achieving my dream; being able to say to myself that I accomplished something that less than ten percent of high school athletes will ever …show more content…
This motivation is not gained over time from being lackadaisical, my advanced physical education teacher once said “being a better athlete takes a dream and motivation,” it’s earned through hard work, and having passion to achieve a greater goal. Motivation can be expressed through the blood, sweat, and tears given to achieve. These expressions are shown within sports but not exactly express within school. Motivation for school is expressed through the work that is completed work and through the grades that are earned from the work that is put in. Without the motivation to complete the assignments that are necessary to earn the grades that will later on transfer to earning a degree in a field of study of my choosing, that will later on allow myself earn money from this field; all because I had, and will still have, the motivation to continue reaching new feats. I have earned the motivation from training for baseball and transferred the same concept of doing the work achieve something that will better you in the future. I am lucky that I have the motivation to succeed, and the ability to keep on achieving more goals that I set for myself, but I feel sorry for the people who have no motivation, the people who lay over, and let others pass them in the game of life without a say; not because they want this to happen, it’s that these people don’t know what it takes
I also decided to keep playing, as many people do quit, and I kept trying harder in Baseball, and instead of giving up; to push past that and to keep getting farther in the Sport. It changed what I do after school, it made me also think about what I like to do in my spare time, to what I should do in my spare time. Now, I do baseball whenever in my spare time, which helps me reach my overall goal in playing the sport. It used to be for fun, but now I am trying to go farther than just having fun in the sport. I have had to do many things to get where I am, but I do not want to be finished yet, I want to keep going throughout my life and keep succeeding. “Baseball is a good thing. Always was, always will be.” – Stephen
A volleyball player cannot jump higher from not playing in a week. A student cannot become smarter without going to school everyday and listening to their teachers. When you are dedicated, you want it. I am dedicated to my education, that being the case, I participate in a great deal of school clubs and activities.
I have many goals as an Athletic Training Student, and continuing my education is the biggest goal in order to be successful in my career and future goals. Eventually, I will earn a doctorate and go on to work at a professional level with a major league soccer team. I also aim to increase the knowledge and awareness of mental health within the field of athletic training.
Motivation comes in all different forms, and it depends on how a person perceives it. Motivation can be anything, and affects each person differently. A person can have multiple ways of inspiration that encourage them to succeed. A person has to be at the right place in the right time, and it’s just a matter of finding it.
I joined my school’s cross country team in the summer. At the beginning we performed pre-season workouts. The training was tough, but my proud personality and the very thought of what I had to gain kept me motivated and helped me push through the pain. Every time I felt like giving up or quitting, I would say to myself, “This pain is only temporary; remember that the reward will be permanent, and it will be worth the pain that I endure today.” I was able to push through the
I decided that I wanted to play a sport, I chose volleyball. Most of my friends played the sport so it wasn't hard for me to adjust and make new friends. Becoming a student athlete was a big adjustment for me, I could no longer float through my classes but I need to excel. And that's exactly what I did. For the first time in my high school career I made not only honor roll, but principal’s honor roll. For the first time my mom was proud of my report card, that made me even more proud. From then on I knew I wanted nothing less than what I earned, good grades and a proud family. From my decision to chose to become a student athlete not only make me work harder but, be great at everything I put my mind to. I had motivation to stay successful, to stay eligible. Three years ago if you were to ask me where I thought I would be my senior year, I probably would have told you low level classes barely making it by. Now here I am today excelling in my education preparing to take the next step in my future, college. Even if we don’t understand why we go through them, we have to be willing to let our obstacles become out
Making my way to success in my occupation is not an easy road, but my mind is set on my goal. Where did I learn to set a goal? That’s right, softball. Softball has taught me that rewarding word; experiencing minor goals in this sport and overcoming with joy once that goal is met. It shows how satisfying a MAJOR reached goal would be. Setting goals gives clarity on what you want. Whether it is in sports or life events; it is a self-motivator. It leaves me accountable for my actions and grants me responsibility. Overall, playing softball has rewarded me in so many different ways and has blessed me with the vital part to get through my process of nursing mentally and physically. I will always be reminded throughout my life, what softball has done for me along with how it has governed my capability to learn, having an open mind, not to mention the confidence I have

Many researches have been conducted to investigate what motivates students for better academic performance and whether it has a correlation with achievement motivation.
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” - Tim Notke Some may take this quote as it is and use it as motivation. No matter what sport or organization you participate in, people strive to be the best at what they do. When competing in something you feel strongly about, it makes sense to do the hard work yourself to reach your goals. But, some people don’t and use alternative options. In the horse world, your options are top barn with horses that are available to be leased, top trainers that work your horses for you and even show them in classes before you so that they are ready for your specific class.
In the past, I have always studied with the T.V. on and while listening to music, which was not helpful because they would both distract me from studying and learning. Ergo, my environment would keep me from learning to maximum potential. Contrastingly, my learning environment in school was very helpful, my teachers always made sure we comprehended all the information and were open to answering any questions we had on any topic, which in a sense made up for my bad physical environment. In regards to my motivation, I have never liked school and have always wanted to be done with it. As a result, I would never want to study and would procrastinate and end up studying the night before tests instead of planning out my studying time. However, over time I have realized that getting an education will increase my chances for a more successful life in the future and that is what motivates me to do well in school. Simply put, in the past I was a learner who used many different learning strategies in order to succeed, was an unmotivated person, and had a negative physical environment, but a positive school-learning
Motivate the motivation, simple words that can mean some much to an athlete, but what is motivation really? In the games and sports, psychological and physiological factors play an important role in determining the performance level (Grange & Kerr, 2010; Schilling & Hyashi, 2001). Motivation also plays an important role in determining the performance level an athlete, but plays a role in the psychological and physiological factors as well. Motivation is more than a behavior or idea, it is an impact on how we interact with others, how we process defeat, feel, and how we play. Motivation will not only help an athlete get the starting position or gain an award but more importantly, help an athlete reach their potential. Motivation like most things
To a certain extent it can be said that without a sense of motivation, whether it be intrinsic or extrinsic, a child’s ability to learn and reach their potential is greatly lessened. Motivation is best described as an internal state that not only arouses and directs behaviour but also helps to maintain it (Woolfolk & Margetts, 2013). Motivation not only plays a large role in a child’s learning ability, it also shapes a student’s interests and enjoyment of school and study (Martin, 2003). For both pre-service teachers and expert teachers it is easy to see that if a student possesses high motivation to learn, their behaviour towards their school work is more positive and in turn leads to higher academic success, whereas a student with little to no motivation will exhibit negative behavi...
This day and time motivation seems to be harder to achieve. The use of homework passes and free time would be used as a form of motivation. Students, young and old, appreciate rewards even if it is only verbal praises. Some form of recognition creates a desire to achieve even more. Notes written by the teacher on returned homework or test papers may give inspiration to a shy student. This is also a way in letting the student know that they are an individual who is capable of achieving great things if they really try.
