Atlantis
The lost city of Atlantis is one of the world’s greatest mysterious till this day. It’s an even more older mystery than the legendary Bermuda Triangle. For generations people have been wondering how Atlantis fell or if it even existed, but many people believe it actually existed. There is no actual proof but there are many different stories from different cultures all over the world talking about Atlantis. Scientists have been trying to find some kind of evidence of Atlantis’ existence but find nothing. Our technology is very limited when it comes to deep sea exploration. This world is mainly made up of water. It would be very difficult and time consuming to explore the oceans and our technology won’t be able to cover it all. Maybe someday we will be advanced enough to find some kind

Some people believed that Atlantis was the home of the Greek mythology sea god Poseidon. Poseidon fell in love with a human female by the name of Cleito. He created Atlantis in honor of her. He allowed ten of his sons from Cleito to rule all of Atlantis. There they worshipped their father to honor him. In the very center of Atlantis is the temple of Poseidon. It is said that there were markets all over Atlantis with plenty of food to feed everyone from the people to both big and small creatures. Outside of Atlantis is an open field going to the mountains. The people would use the open field to plant their crops to sell at the markets. Atlantis was also filled with beautiful homes for the Atlanteans. The Atlanteans soon found out that their rocks are filled with many different kinds of minerals. They began traveling to their neighbors to trade materials from their rocks and became wealthy during the process. Sadly becoming

Ever since the idea of Atlantis being a city explorers and scientists have looked for Atlantis. One idea is that the Mid-Atlantic Ridge was caused by the sinking of Atlantis. But this is disproved because if Atlantis did sink in the Atlantic Ocean then it would not have created a ridge or ridge like area. The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is caused by Divergent tectonic plates in the ocean which creates the ridge. The sinking of Atlantis could not have done this. Not only is this impossible but the descriptions given by Plato would also be off. The Mid-Atlantic ridge is a mountain like area going from north to south for a few thousands of miles; Plato described Atlantis a circular island that was maybe one hundred miles in diameter. Therefore this theory does not work.
Believed to be literally swallowed by the sea, Atlantis is a mysterious, advanced society that seems to have just vanished. Although some say Atlantis is a myth, there is reliable proof that Atlantis is a myth, there is reliable proof that Atlantis really did exist, and is more than just a myth. The idea of this “vanishing city” first came from Plato, who began discussing this legendary civilization in 355 B.C. Atlantis was a powerful and somewhat greedy civilization established by Poseidon (the god of the sea). They were highly advanced for that period of time (9000 years before Plato’s birth) or in the Holoscene era. Atlantis was destroyed in this era as well. The ways of destruction vary greatly, but the most commonly accepted idea is that Atlantis was destroyed in a great flood because Poseidon was angry at what his people had become. Now, some believe the whole concept of Atlantis is bogus and that it never even existed. Although some of the more exaggaerrated statements such as: “Poseidon destroyed the island because he was angry!” may not be true, there is enough evidence to conclude this story is much more than a myth.
Poseidon was relied upon by sailors for a safe voyage on the sea. Many men drowned horses in sacrifice of his honor. He lived on the ocean floor in a palace made of coral and gems, and drove a chariot pulled by horses. However, Poseidon was a very moody divinity, and his temperament could sometimes result in violence. When he was in a good mood, Poseidon created new lands in the water and a calm sea. In contrast, when he was in a bad mood, Poseidon would strike the ground with a trident and cause unruly springs and earthquakes, ship wrecks, and drownings.
Phoenicians were known as the most distinguished seafaring traders and merchants of the ancient world. In fact, they called themselves Kena'ani (or Canaanites), which is Hebrew for "Merchant". They established trading colonies all over the Mediterranean Sea, including Carthage, Simyra, Zarephath, Byblos, and Tyre (Sur). Maritime trading also reached into the Atlantic Ocean to England. Some of the goods traded included glass, color dyes, metals, horses, ebony and ivory, linen, coral, honey, spices, oil and precious stones.
Plato was the first to mention the city of Atlantis around 300 BC. He was a Greek philosopher who had studied under Socrates in Greece. Plato gave detailed stories in the books Timeus and Critias about a land that was on the fringes of what we know as the Mediterranean Sea that occurred around 9,000 years from when it was written. Atlantis was said to be bigger than Libya and Asia combined. Critias was a book based on how Atlantis came to be and stories about Atlantis. Timeus was a book of teachings in which Plato wrote about morality. Plato did not see Atlantis himself but he heard it from the Greek king Solon who had heard it from an Egyptian priest. Plato’s Critias story described the Greek gods dividing up the earth for land. Poseidon chose an island on which to build his empire. Poseidon had five sets of twins with his wife Helios; a female mortal. The Island was divided up amongst the sons by the eldest. Atlas was the eldest son and was given control of the city in the middle of the Island.
Poseidon is the Greek God of all bodies of water, earthquakes, and horses. He and his brothers (Zeus and Hades) split up the regions of the world between each other. Ocean storms is also something that Poseidon is held accountable for. Sailors would pray that they would have a safe journey to Poseidon. Poseidon’s trademark symbol is the trident (a spear that has 3 spikes instead of 1). While people now tend to fish with a hook and fishing pole, the Greeks used to spear fish with tridents.
Atlantis, the city swallowed whole by the sea. The Lost City of Atlantis, no doubt this is an interesting topic with many different views and opinions. The existence of the Lost City of Atlantis has been debated for centuries, but this can be proven a myth by examining Plato's writing, the story's evolution, and archeologists' failure to find the city.
“The lost city of Atlantis may been found!”(I) What is Atlantis, well it is supposedly a city built by the sea god Poseidon but suddenly went missing. How it went missing , plus where it is still remains a mystery. While there are many reasonable facts and theories surrounding the lost city of Atlantis such as that is was Antarctica, further investigations regarding where it is needs to happen in order for the mystery to be solved.
Atlantis is an ancient island that supposedly existed over 9,000 years ago that mysteriously vanished into the sea in just a single day. There have been many theories regarding the existence of Atlantis, some with very convincing arguments but there is still no proof that it actually exists. With tools like Photoshop, it is hard to know if people are telling the truth because they could easily edit the photos they claim they’ve taken. In the course of the last couple of hundred years, researchers, historians, authors and adventurers have talked about whether it at any point existed or not. Not at all like numerous different legends and stories of lost islands, we know precisely when and where the tale of Atlantis initially emerged. The story was first told in two of Plato's discoursed, the "Timaeus" and the "Critias," composed around the time of 330 BC.
The legendary story of Atlantis was believed to first be told by Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, around 360 B.C. It is widely thought that he was the root of the myth of the lost city of Atlantis because a few pages of his writings. In the book, the Critias, which was written over 2,000 years ago, Plato describes the lush city in detail. According to he, the city was made of three land rings, which served as circular harbors that were connected to a canal for transportation. Atlantis was situated just beyond the Pillars of Hercules, per the Critias.
The treasures had been under the earth for thirteen years. It was also treasure found on a huge wooden ship.
Atlantis could not have been real, as there is no physical evidence of a place that matched Plato’s descriptions in his two famous dialogues, Timaeus and Critias. As seen in Source A from Plato’s Timaeus, the island of Atlantis existed in the Atlantis Ocean as it, “came forth out of the Atlantis Ocean.” This source along with Plato’s description that "The island [Atlantis] was larger than Libya and Asia combined," leads to the conclusion that if
But, underwater archaeologists also looked at other kinds of sites, like flooded land sites, or fishing areas. The archeological objective of digging materials in a powerful fashion where the natural location of each artifact can be recorded and looked at later. Many “tools of the trade” used on earth;y archaeological quarry are used for underwater unearthing as well. Advanced technologies are condemning to behavior science in great depths of the ocean. In recent years, scuba diving archaeologists have made fantastic findings by searching shipwrecks in deep water. Searching in shallow water can also show clues about different types of boats that may not have normally moved into deep waters. During this time, scuba-diving archaeologists have made terrific discoveries by excavating shipwrecks in deep
Plato gave the first and principal written account of Atlantis in his dialogues, “Critias” and “Timaeus”. In his description, Atlantis was a huge island located near the Straits of Gibraltar. In this island, there was a great empire which had flourished more than nine thousand years earlier. Atlantean residents had extraordinary intelligence. Their society was far more advanced than any other civilization at that time. The wealth of Atlantis was so unimaginable that even the walls were covered in gold. Furthermore, Atlantis had a huge trading network and a powerful navy. But with the passage of time, the Atlanteans became more and more arrogant, and they even wanted to rule the whole world. They were defeated by brave Athens soldiers. After that, fatal earthquakes and floods occurred in Atlantis; and in a single day and night, the island of Atlantis was swallowed up by the sea.
