You can't put a price on talent and No, I honestly don't think they get overpaid. Athletes risk their lives every day they practice, play or even play in a real game. The athletes need their salaries to carry them past the 5 to 15 years they are able to play. Although you feel your job doesn't pay as much as you want it. Think about what athletes do to make their living. Many professional athletes and their colleagues get paid millions of dollars. Some people think these athletes should or should not get paid that much money. Which honestly, I think they do get to get paid that much because athletes risk their lives either getting on the field or in the cage. Athletes do not get overpaid mostly for the fact that they could face serious injury. In addition, athletes not only face career ending but also life altering injuries.First of all, athletes train hard to make the money they have, their training has protracted most of their lives. Therefore, without the athletes, there would be no entertainment for us to enjoy.People love to be entertained, but in order for our entertainment we have to pay money. So, the athletes could make money off of our enjoyment. Most days people have big dreams, but never stay committed to their dreams. Therefore, these …show more content…
The only thing wrong with this picture is people who save lives don't earn as much. Also, athletes face injuries, but firefighters and cops risk their lives; however, they earn less money than the professional athlete. In conclusion, athletes earn every penny of their money. You can't put a price on talent, but that's everybody's opinion. These athletes are living the dream life and most people are jealous of it. People are jealous and feel as if their jobs are negligible. If you have a dream go after it, don't wait, sooner or later it's going to be too
But on the other hand, why should a person that hits or kicks a ball be paid as much as someone who saves lives. AFL players may have all this skill and everything else that some other people do not, but do they have the skill of saving lives on a day-to-day basis like a doctor does? Or do they have the skill of teaching children how to read and write like a teacher does? Yes, doctors are paid more but they do more as far as other people’s lives are concerned.
Many people in today’s world complain about how much Pro Athletes get pay. So I ask are Pro athletes overpaid? Look at it in this sense; they are living their dreams just like most business men do everyday. If you think that professional sports is not a job then just try to walk in the shoes of a athlete for a day. Sports, like medicine, healthcare, or software, are a business. In that business, owners pay their players what they deem they are worth.
Do athletes get overpaid? Is it fair that the average NFL player gets paid 1.9 million dollars a year while the average heart surgeon gets paid 533 thousand dollars annually? I think that professional athletes don’t get paid too much. There are multiple reasons that proves that their pay is not excessive. Their careers are short, they risk their body for our entertainment, and they motivate children.
Are pro-athletes overpaid? One could argue both sides. For example the two articles “Pro Athletes’ Salaries aren’t Overly Exorbitant” by: Singletary, and “Do Professional Athletes Get Paid Too Much” by: Justin H Jelm. They both use evidence to support their claim very well.
Do you think professional athletes are overpaid? You might think they earn more than what they are worth for playing half a year, but athletes have many things which contribute to their salary. Some of these things include their earnings from endorsements, ticket sales, performance, merchandise, their social contributions, and TV ratings. Although there are many factors that contribute to their salary, professional athletes may be overpaid because as a society, we contribute to their success. So, in the end, part of the athlete’s salary comes from the people who support the sports in the first place. These are just some of the reasons why athletes are paid so much money.
The salary of professional athletes are always being debated on whether they make too much or it 's the right amount they should make. Some of the athletes do make millions and millions of dollars, but there is some that don 't. Anyways in order to make the millions first an athletes must make it to the professional level. For example in soccer only 1.4% of people actually make it to the professional level. So the rest of the people make it for other sports such as football, basketball, baseball, and others. To be considered a professional athlete you must be getting payed to play a sport. They will be playing for a league and even tournaments and get rewarded with more money if they win. Some may think an athlete
One point of view is that the athletes earn all that they make, while another is that they are well overpaid. Athletes are valuable enough for their pay with their skill and training. There are many reasons why athletes are paid what they deserve. One reason athletes deserve their pay is that they do it for the regular civilians. The civilians are the people who really want to see the athletes’ talent and sport, so the athletes try to make the civilians happy.
Athletes are overpaid. Athletes as a whole don’t offer society anything that helps improve society. Unlike doctors, policemen, firefighters, teachers and other occupations that are necessary for order and safety on a daily basis. Being a professional athlete has no real value to society as a whole, they just provide a way for people to waste their time and money. Sports players don’t spend their days saving peoples lives or fighting a war across the world to keep this country safe. In no way is the distribution of money and wealth to the players fair. Paying athletes $13.5 million for a single year is just not justifiable(Herald). Think about all the other jobs out there that provide a real service; like teachers, responsible for educating our youth or doctors who save lives ev...
It’s true that some players get paid huge sums of money to play a game many play for free, but these professional athletes are worth every penny.Professional athletes who develop their talents and skills to a higher level than their peers will naturally demand a higher compensation.
Professional athletes have very hard jobs and people are complaining that they get paid too much. Professional athletes deserve to get paid as much as they do because they work their whole lives to get to the professional level, the industry they are in makes a ton of money, and the reason they make so much money is because we pay to watch them play. They deserve to make the amount of money they make because the things they have to do to get to that level are insane. They are the best in the world at what they do. A lot of athletes would quit if their salaries were reduced as we’ve seen with the various strikes in all four major US professional sports leagues.
When addressing the value of entertainment, there is without a doubt, that we as a society value entertainment highly. But there is no reason that these athletes, who are here to merely entertain us, get paid higher wages than those that save our lives and teach us such as medical doctors and teachers. I find it ridiculous that players make millions of dollars a year, and yet demand more. The entertainment that these athletes provide is solely entertainment; it is not essential to the function or productivity of society. If I were to become a professional football player I would not complain about my salary for many reasons. I am playing the sport that I love and getting paid for it. The minimum wage for football is well over $100,000 a year, as is for many professional sports. These reasons by their lonesome are enough to warrant that the salary professional athletes are paid is suffice.
Just like Matt of quchronicle stated, sports are hobbies that everyone wants to do and people will do it regardless of income. That is true that athletes have fun and they make money off it, but that doesn’t mean they should be discredited for what they do. Just because they are making money off doing something fun don’t mean they should be victimized as people who are overpaid. Even though they are doing something fun, there are a lot of things athletes do that are unseen. They have to do promotions for businesses, be role models to many people, and do a lot of hardcore training. None of these are seen on the media. The only thing people see is them playing a ball game shooting hoops. People should look up to them instead of envying them. Yes, they play a sport, but no one truly understands the behind of scene work they do. That is why Matt’s statement and everybody that agrees with him are incorrect. People cannot do what they do. If everyone had the ability to become a professional athlete, then there shouldn’t be so few. People are just targeting athletes because they are the easiest to attack when talking about professions that are
Driving a Rolls Royce, wearing a Rolex , and living a million dollar house are some of the luxuries some professional athletes enjoy. Some people say professional athletes are overpaid but when one looks at the evidence, they will find that they earn their money. It has been a controversial issue as of late. Professional athletes are not overpaid, because they work extremely hard for their money. They take a big risk playing professional sports, and they make their owners huge amounts of money.
Sport has always entertained and influenced our lives. It creates dreams for children and goals for adults. However, many fans are oblivious to the millions they pocket each year. It is without doubt that our sports stars are grossly overpaid. Their annual earnings exceed those we make in a lifetime, even when compared to highly qualified professionals.
Firstly, I think that entertainers’ athletes are paid so much because they deserve it. An actor isn’t going just wake up one day and say, “I think I’m going to be an A-list act...
