Babysitting is something that lots of people have done. Often a parent will call a family friend to see if their teenager will come over to watch their children in exchange for some extra money. Most teens will except the offer, thinking that all they will be required of is to watch some kids play for a few hours and then be rewarded their pay. However, babysitting holds a lot more responsibility than one would think. When a parent places their child into another person's care they are accountable and should know how to be prepared, what to ask and what kind of attitude they should show to the child.
To start, a babysitter should come prepared for any situation. Children have a seemingly endless supply of energy, and depending on their age, can lose interest in something quickly, so having some activities planed ahead of time will be helpful. Some children can experience separation anxiety, when a child has extreme anxiety when separated from its parents, a good way to solve this is to distract them with an interesting toy or game. Most essentially a babysitter should always be ready for an emergency situation on any kind.

In addition, a babysitter should know certain things before the parents leave.
One should ask where the medical supplies, fire extigueser and anything else they might need is kept. A babysitter will also want to know what they need to do, such as make a meal, clean, or put the children to bed and when these things are to be done. Then, one should be aware of any medical needs a child has, emergency phone numbers and any other information the parents have for them. It is helpful to make a list of questions and is important to ask the these questions to the parents and not depend on the child for the
answers. Finally, when babysitting it is important to pay attention to one's attitude. A babysitter should always be patent and caring and under no circumstance should one yell at a child. Although, This does not mean that one should let the child do whatever the wish, a babysitter must learn to show the child that they will be kind but that they are in charge. When a child is behaving challenging, they should calmly be told that they will be punished if they do not obey, usually with a time out or other punishment a parent has specified. If the child continues to disobey after several warnings the parents should be called and made aware of the situation. Being accountable for another person is hard, especially if that person is a child, but These tips should help make babysitting an easier and more enjoyable job. While not all people will become babysitters, some will find it something they like to do and may even end up working with children. Who knows what will come from even a one time babysitting opportunity. When one does a good job babysitting the parents will most likely tell their friends about them and they might end up babysitting for many families. While it can be challenging at times, babysitting is a great experience and helps teenagers become more responsible.
As children interact with the child care professional several hours a day, parents always look for persons of good influence who can help in the development of their child’s emotional, intellectual and social aspect. Therefore, the characteristics that a childcare worker must possess in order to be successful in the field is, having a positive outlook when working with children, being always patient with them, having excellent communication skills, being energetic both mentally and physically, being flexible in dealing with the young hearts, and being well informed. Further, a good childcare worker must have an honest and inborn interest for children, be compassionate to their needs, and must feel motivated to help them. Without the quality of being patience, childcare workers
Most parents would probably prefer a family member would take care of their child; it could possibly be no cost and would make them feel as though they weren’t having someone else raise their child because they have to work. This is not an option for many parents so they go outside the family to make their choice of care. A day care center and an individual caregiver both have their pros and cons. Day care centers are open longer hours and have more workers in case of illness, caregivers could become ill and the parents would have to take the child to an emergency back up or miss work entirely. Children are very much individuals and have to be considered in the choice the family makes for care of their child. Every family must decide first what they can afford and then weigh the options to provide the best care available to them.
If a child is looked after or in care, their opportunities in general may be restricted. This in turn leads to their development being affected in many different ways.
Kidwatching shows many different things when it comes to collecting data on how a student or student’s learn over a period of time. When doing kidwatching observations, it is important to monitor everything that could have an influence on a student’s performance. Different things such as resources, environments, interactions, etc. are a few things that can affect a student when it comes to learning. Being able to kidwatch at Killian Elementary, I’ve been able to collect a great deal of data when it comes to seeing a student as a scientist. This opportunity has allowed me to look at teaching science many different ways that can show how much students are interested and how much he/she understands.
Some other things that are not usually brought up right up front are locations of preschools, the curriculum taught, the types of teachers, etc. People generally just think about the cost and the fact they have a place to send their child to learn while they work. The location of a preschool could or could not mean everything. Parents should look at recommendations for certain preschools. They should also see if the location is in a place they would like to leave their child at all day.
Paying a babysitter to watch your children while you are at work may seem like a smart idea and at the same time it may be cheap, but some people are not responsible to care after kids. They may have a good resume and background check but still, they are not what you are looking for. Some parents make the mistake of hiring babysitters and while in the care of the sitter, their child may come up missing, abused, etc. All babysitters are not bad caretakers; however, but you should just watch who you have watching your children.
The basic concern of child welfare workers is for the safety of the child. Assessment of the risks involved in leaving a child with its family must be made quickly because children cannot be removed from their families arbitrarily.
There should also be a well-stocked first-aid box and there needs to be a fully trained and up to date first aider available at all times. They also need to provide a physically safe environment by completing risk assessments of the setting, and keeping the setting safe, such as who comes in and out of the building, like locks on the door, and only being able to open it from the inside. The setting should also be checking that the fire alarms are working on a regular basis, and have a procedure in place of what happens if there is a fire. The setting also needs to ensure that behaviour remains within safe boundaries by establishing and following a behaviour policy that they have, and ensuring that behaviour that is likely to cause harm or upset to others is not permitted and is handled effectively. Also they are to ensure that children and young people’s development is supported by regularly observing and assessing the development of the individual children, and planning appropriate activities and opportunities to support development and meet individual
The first requirement for a good program for young children and any other children are the safety provided for them. Children should feel safe in their surroundings in the program that they will enter. Parents should always ask and know the safety precautions each program serves. Knowing the precaution the program does to visitors, drop off and pick ups, and around the whole facility is important. A good program should have a policy for visitors. It is also important to know that the program has a good policy for children’s drop off and pick up. To assure a secure facility to the safety of the children a program should not only be safe for them but for the whole environment.

Responsibility is an important thing when it comes to babysitting. It all started during the 09’ summer vacation, when I wanted to babysit for some extra money to go shopping with my friends that were going to come visit me all the way from Canada. I knew that my neighbors were going out to San Francisco for about six hours, and couldn’t find a babysitter yet. So, I asked my mom if I could go next door and ask them. She said I could, and I had my first summer job.
The itsy bitsy spider went up the mountain top. This nursery rhyme was a part of my daily ritual for a solid month the summer between my junior and senior year of high school. This past June, I was a live-in nanny for my cousin’s two-year-old daughter, Aliyah. Babysitting is one thing, but when you are with a child for 10 plus hours a day, you become a leader quickly. The experience of working with one so young ended up helping me to mature in several surprising ways.
I worked for a friend once, and I thought it was the best decision I had ever made. The job was going to be babysitting her kids as often as she needed. Not just one or two kids, but three children, of various ages. I was a little anxious because it was my first job after high school, but I was excited to get started. Without having any experience with kids, I thought to myself , “How simple it was going to be babysitting three kids” I was wrong. It was difficult, and I gave up so much of my time for this friend without getting much in return. Choosing to babysit a friends children caused so many problems. I would have never imagined my first job experience being so dreadful. Working for a friend was a discouraging experience, because I did not have
Attend to children 's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers.
There are many different things that I take into consideration when it comes to parenting. Parents have many different responsibilities but there are three in particular that I think are very important. Being a good role model is important, as well as listening to your children and disciplining them appropriately. If you want to be a good parent you have to put your kids first.
