Who or What Was Responsible for the Titanic Disaster?
When the Titanic hit the iceberg it started to fill up with tons of water in the compartments which started to tilt the ship on one side of it. People wonder who or what was responsible for the Titanic disaster. Part of it was the iceberg warnings.
The Titanic had multiple iceberg warnings.On page 18 it said that the captain ignored all of them. People wonder if the Titanic had slowed for caution, then it wouldn’t hit the iceberg so hard. On page 19 it stated that the Titanic got a total of seven iceberg warnings! For example, the book said, “At 7:30 p.m., the radio room received three more iceberg warnings about fifty miles ahead.” on page 19. Instead of listening, the captain ignored the
iceberg warnings and went to the dinner in first class. Another example would be the compartments. The book said the water filled four compartments when the Titanic hit the iceberg on page 23. Half of the compartments were overflowing with water, which weighed tons of pounds, so the ship started to sink. For example, On page 22 it says that the watertight compartments were not sealed all the way, so water spilled over into the others. That makes me think that the people who built the Titanic was one of the reasons the Titanic sunk. If the captain didn’t ignore all of the iceberg warnings, maybe the ship would have slowed and they wouldn’t hit the iceberg that they hit. The captain could have been one of the reason the ship sunk. Another reason could be the way the ship was built. That would mean the builders of the Titanic could have been responsible for the Titanic disaster.
