In the story Romeo and Juliet, Lord Capulet is at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Lord Capulet was aggressively forcing Juliet to marry Paris, who she did not want to marry. He was forcing Juliet to stay away from Romeo and was keeping them from each other. This caused Juliet to make irrational decisions behind Lord Capulet's back. This led to the death of Juliet and shortly after Romeo took his own life. Lord Capulet states, Girls who marry so young grow up too soon. But go ahead and charm her, gentle Paris; make her love you” (1.2.13-15). This quote states that Lord Capulte believes Juliet is not ready for marriage but believes she is ready for Paris. Lord Capulet is at fault for the death, putting Juliet in bad positions, and setting her up for her own death, which was followed by Romeo's death. Romeo's actions definitely played a significant role in the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. His impulsive and passionate love for Juliet led him to make poor decisions that had bad consequences. For example, when he killed Tybalt in rage, it set off a chain of events that ultimately led to his own …show more content…
Turn around, Benvolio, and look at the man who’s going to kill you”(4.2.4). The killing of Tybalt led Juliet to have to choose between the family loyalty or her love for Romeo. The same happened when Romeo killed himself after the “death” of Juliet. In the book it states,”The statue I will make of Romeo to lie beside his Juliet will be just as rich. They were poor sacrifices of our rivalry”(94.4.1). Lord Capulet's actions played an uncontrolled role in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. His stubbornness and insistence on Juliet getting married to Paris, avoiding her love for Romeo. This created a stressful and stressful situation for Juliet. Lord Capulet's lack of empathy for Juliet led her to make desperate decisions, such as faking her own death. If Lord Capulet had been more willing to listen to Juliet's feelings, she would have lived. In the story it states, “But go ahead and charm her, gentle Paris; make her love you. My permission is only part of her decision. If she agrees to marry you, my blessing and fair words will confirm her choice”(10.1.2). This quote explains how Lord Capulet was very demanding on having Juliet marry Paris, when she was not ready for that yet and her heart belonged to
Juliet wants to marry Romeo. This is a problem and it cause Juliet to want to marry Romeo more. In document B Lady Capulet is worried about Juliet getting married because she got married younger than Juliet is right now. Juliet is not ready to get married, but Lady Capulet is pushing it on her(“DBQ: Romeo and Juliet: Who’s to Blame”. Doc. B). When she finds Romeo she loves him and want to get married. She may have fought Romeo because of how hard Lady Capulet is pushing her to get married. In document D Lady Capulet is also to blame. In this document Juliet saying that she does not love Paris, but Lady Capulet and Capulet think otherwise. They are pushing her to married to Paris. Who is Most Responsible for the Deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Romantic love stories often end with a tragedy, because of the loss of passion or a loved one. These tragedies are often the result of one person’s actions that ended someone’s life or love. In the Romeo and Juliet play written by William Shakespeare, two citizens of Verona come together and fall deeply in love.
Another character who is responsible for the deaths of the lovers in Romeo and Juliet is Lord Capulet. Knowing that her father would disagree with her being married to Romeo, a Montague, Romeo and Juliet were forced to keep their love a secret. In the beginning of the play, Lord Capulet tells Paris that Juliet is still to young to woo and that he should wait two years. However, later in the play, he tells Paris that Juliet will be married to him in two days. After hearing that she will be wed in two days, Juliet goes to Friar Lawrence asking for help. If Lord Capulet did not force Juliet to marry Paris, she would not have had to fake her death. The plan that Friar Lawrence devised to prevent the wedding led to death of Romeo and Juliet.
But this statement fails to mention how none of this would have ever happened if Lord Capulet hadn’t been as unforgiving. The only reason Romeo killed himself is because he couldn’t be with Juliet, and the only reason he couldn’t be with Juliet is because Lord Capulet tried to make her marry Paris. It could also be said that it was the Friar or Juliet’s fault because he made such a risky plan and she took it, but he never would have had to make this plan if Capulet had been more accepting, and she never would have had to take such a plan if she wasn’t so scared of her
The Death of Romeo and Juliet and Who is to Blame Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, in which a young boy and girl fall in love and commit suicide. They come from 2 different families which have a deadly feud against one another. Romeo goes to a masked ball at the Capulet's household where he falls in love with Juliet. He then proposes to her after the party in secret at Juliet's balcony. Romeo then arranges a secret weeding with Friar Lawrence and Juliet tells the Nurse.
Capulet can also be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet as he is selfish and unsupportive. Capulet was trying to force Juliet to marry Paris and he had the final say in her life. After Tybalt’s death Capulet decides to move the wedding up, which shows he is selfish and doesn’t care what Juliet thinks or if she wants to marry him. When Juliet said, she didn’t want to marry Paris her parents (mainly her farther) wanted to disown her. Capulet said to
Instead of making sure Juliet is out of harm's way she pushes her onto the path. Lady Capulet shows no caring towards Juliet such as being uncertain of Juliet's precise age (Chang 1). Lady Capulet also insisted on Juliet marrying Paris because he is wealthy even though Juliet does not have any interest in him (Fabry 66). Throughout the play Lady Capulet was presented by only wanting money and not caring what she does to reach her goal. It is obvious that she married Lord Capulet for his wealth because clues are shown in the play about her being scornful of his age. Such as when her husband wants to fight Lord Montague and asks for his sword, but she suggests a crutch instead (Fabry 10). Lady Capulet is distant from Juliet and always sides with her husband. Even when Lord Capulet is threatening Juliet that he is going to hit her and throw her out of the house if she does not obey him, Lady Capulet still supports her husband's decision. Lady Capulet shows no emotion to her daughter, but when Juliet is dead, she is filled with sorrow (Fabry 10). The Prince isn't all innocent either. Yes, he does threaten the two families if there was any sort of fighting with each other the punishment will be death, but he never follows through with his orders, which continues the quarrel of the Capulets and Montagues. When Romeo kills Tybalt he is only exiled from the city, but when a crime such as murder has occurred the punishment is to be
Who is Responsible for the Tragic Deaths of Romeo and Juliet 'Romeo and Juliet', a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in the 16th Century all about two strong hearted teenagers in the city of Verona in Italy who fall in love with each other as 'star crossed lovers'. The two young teenagers of feuding families were destined to fall in love, however many problems occur to the extent of suicide, that affect their relationship, one of the main factors is the feud between their two families. Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague.
Romeo and Juliet’s death could be interpreted to be Lord Capulet’s fault, he insisted Juliet to marry Paris. Lord Capulet takes part of the duel, but he behaves more reservedly during his daughter’s party. Juliet is his prized possession. At first, he seems very reasonable. He does not want his only daughter to marry quickly. He advises Paris to win her heart. (1.2.13-19) “And too soon marrd are those early made.Earth hath swallowed all my hopes but she. She is hopeful lady of my earth. But woo her, gentle Paris, get her heart. My will to her consent is but a part. And she agreed, within her scope of choice, Lies my consent and fair according voice,” said Lord Capulet. He seems to be mellow at Juliet’s ball. Tybalt is ready to fight Romeo then and there, but Lord Capulet won’t let him. He says Romeo has a good reputation and argues that a fight will disturb their guests. Tybalt hold off until later, when he does try to engage Romeo. He kills Mercutio, who steps in to defend Romeo, and Romeo slays Tybalt. It seems that Tybalt’s death changes things for Lord Capulet. He is so entrenched in grief that he reverses his position of patience on Juliet’s marriage. He insists that she marry Paris in only a few days, Juliet is horrified. After all, she is already secretly married to Romeo. Lord Capulet just makes a lot of threats and seems to get angrier and angrier. (3.5.160-164) “Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch! I
Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Paris causes the whole conflict of Romeo and Juliet’s death. Juliet’s father wants her to get married with Paris, so she will be happy after the tragedy of Tybalt's death:
Lord Capulet wanted his daughter married, but could have had a better plan. Every character knows marriage and love at a young age can lead to death and hardships in the future, but Capulet still wants to marry Juliet. So Capulet should be blamed, because he does not allow Juliet to have a say, makes a horrible decision, and enforces her marriage with Paris too quickly. For example, “Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch! I tell thee what: get thee to church o’ Thursday Or never after look me in the face. Speak not; reply not; do not answer me” (Act 3 Scene 5, 166-169). This means that Lord Capulet does not want the slightest disagreement of the marriage from his daughter and if she does not obey, does not want to ever look at her again. The reason why Juliet had to die was because Capulet rushed the marriage onto her and would take no back talk thus leading her to make a fast unintelligent
Capulet’s controlling and aggressive parenting forces Juliet to marry someone she does not love. Furthermore, this causes Juliet to start considering suicide as a way out. Capulet’s actions to forcefully marry Juliet to Paris brings her to death because it results in the Friar’s potion plan which would cause the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. If Capulet did not force Juliet to marry, she would be dead. The Nurse shares some responsibility for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths due to the fact that she did not counsel Juliet when she learned about Juliet’s relationship with Romeo.
Although Capulet wanted the best for Juliet, he didn't give a thought on how she felt and had forced her to marry Paris which had caused problems that led to her tragic end. She didn't want to marry someone who she did not love and wanted to escape this marriage. Her method of escape was death. Capulet's controlling actions appeared as early as Act I Scene 2, when he was arranging Juliet's marriage to Paris without her consent. Paris wondered if Juliet would like him and Capulet responded with, "Of my child's love: I think she will be ruled. In all respects by me; nay, more, I doubt it not." (IV, 3, ln. 13-14). stating that he doesn't just think Juliet will like him but that he knows she will like him. When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, he shouted, "To go with Paris to Saint Peter's Church, Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither." (V, 3, ln. 154-155). making her agree to go to the church. Although she did agree to go, her thought of, "I'll to the friar, to know his remedy; If all else fail, myself have power to die." (V, 3, ln. 241-242). showed that she did not plan on marrying Paris and that she would die first. Juliet's arrangement to Paris had brought her death because it had resulted in the potion plan which had caused Romeo and Juliet to die. If Capulet had never forced Juliet to marry Paris, she would have been living happily with Romeo.
Capulet was far more direct a part of Juliet’s death than Tybalt was. Also a Capulet, he had fought with the Montagues on numerous occasions. He did not force Romeo to leave his party, but whether he was prepared to be friendly with the Montagues was another matter. Juliet believed that her father would never approve of her marriage to Rome, so she kept it a secret. As a result of being unaware that his daughter had already married, Capulet arranged Juliet’s marriage to Paris, Capulet assumed that she was crying in grief over Tybalt and would be heartened by getting married. When Juliet insisted she didn’t wish to marry Paris, he would hear none of it. He thought her ungrateful and disobedient, and he refused to change his plans. Juliet could see no way out except to fake her own death. Had Capulet been more understanding and flexible, Juliet’s fake death – and, later, her real one – could have been avoided.
