You shouldn’t change who you are just to impress someone. The Narrator in “Catch the Moon” learned this by confronting his emotions. The Narrator in “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” learned this by realizing that it is not important to impress people. The stories are different because they have different themes. The stories are alike because they both deal with a guy trying to impress a girl. In the story “Catch the Moon” Luis was trying to impress a girl by finding a hubcap that she had lost to the back of her car. Throughout the story “Catch the Moon” Luis was going through rough times due to the fact that his mother had just died. Luis had really loved his mother so Luis was going to change his ways. Luis had learned after falling for the girl only one thing, that love can change any person. His mom and the girl pushed him to the point where he lets his feelings out. True love can bring out who a person is. Love made him nicer. He must not change the way he is to prove something to people. …show more content…

The Narrator did his best to impress Sheila but he had to top the twenty year olds that also liked her. When the Narrator took Sheila to go fishing he realized she didn't like to fish but the Narrator wanted to catch a bass. The Narrator realized that it isn't worth it to act like someone you aren't. After the fishing trip with Sheila he said to himself, "The thought of losing the fish still haunts him today so he will never choose something over someone he loves again".
