What Role Does Santiago Play In The Alchemist

Santiago is the main character of the story who is traveling to find his personal legend. Through the story he finds some people who play a very important role in his journey .One happens to be his true love,Fatima. He also runs into a guy by the name of Melchizedek who is the king of Salem, he gives him some key concepts for his journey. He meets an Englishman who is an aspiring alchemist. Last but not least, he meets the alchemist, he helps Santiago along his journey.

The story, "The Alchemist" doesnt have a specific set time. However, the story takes place in many different locations. For example, in the story Santiago is in the Spanish town of Tarifa. It also takes place in the City of Tangier in North Africa. The Sahara Desert is also

of the places Santiago is in during the story.

Santiago wants to become a shepherd so he can see the world.

Then he was these recurring dreams about a child telling him to go seek his treasure. So, he goes to Europe and finds the king of Salem, Melchizedek. Unfortunatly, Santiago is robbed and Is forced to work for the crystal merchant. He encourages the crystal merchant to take a risk and that gets him rich. He then joined a caravan that's crossing Europe. There he finds the English man who is studying to become an Alchemist. The caravan made a stop at Al-Fayoum where he meets Fatima and quickly falls in love with her. The Alchemist hears about Santiago and encourages him to go and seek his personal legend. The Alchemist gives a tribe all of Santiagos money and convinces them that In 3 days Santiago will turn into the wind. The alchemist gives Santiago gold and sends him off to continue his journey to find the treasure. While digging, 2 men try to beat him, but Santiago tells them about the dream he had about the treasure. One of the guys tells him about a similar dream he had except the treasure was in Spain. He returns to Spain to find a chest of

jewels.

"Your eyes show the strength of your soul." This quote relates to my life in many ways. I feel like the first thing anyone ever sees in their eyes. Sometimes eyes can say more than you can express. Some people can figure you out just by looking at your eyes. So, people can see how strong you are just by looking at your eyes.
"Dont give into your fears, if you do, you wont be able to listen to your heart." As a high school student I have fears. I have fears of test, grades, losing friends an even heartbreak. But, if I keep listening to my fears I won't be able to know what my heart is saying. If all I listen to is my fears how am I suppose to hear my heart telling me what to do.
"When youre loved, you can do anything in your creation." Being a teen can be hard sometimes. Constantly being afraid of trying to do things. I don't think people understand sometimes that people that love you, support you when you want to do something . That support can help create whatever you want to do.
"When we are loved, we always strive to become a better person." To me this quote doesn't just imply for a significant other. This quote reminds me of my friends and my family. When I know someone loves me, I strive to be a great human being for many reasons. With my friends I do it to show that I care. When It involves my family I do so I don't disappoint them.
"Every person on earth plays a certain role in the history of the world." I wish every person in the world could remember this. I have some people In mind that should keep this quote in their heads to remind them that they're important in the world. Society these days make people feel like they don't belong. Which is a shame because they don't see that they're making history.
"Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none of his or her life." People have given me their input on how I should live my live. They try to control my life as if they knew what i wanted and what was best for me. However, those people that are telling me what to do with my lif dont know what to do with theirs.
"Stranger Danger." I am guilty of talking to people I don't know on the internet. i don't share any personal information besides my name. Although I do realize it's not the safest way to make friends. I do take precautions when talking to strangers online and In person. I think the best thing to do is to take the safe route and just avoid strangers at all cost.
"Trust your gut feeling." This is something I hear a lot. When I have to make choices and i don't know what to do i try and ask people for their opinion. They always tell me to trust my gut feeling. At the end of the day i trust my gut and it always be right and im happy I listened.
"I must have no fear of failure." I constantly put myself down because I'm scared of failing.

But fear doesn't get you anywhere in life. I must have a positive attitude towards everything I do. Most of the time I dont fail, but when I do, I remind myself that it's okay. I have to fail to become better.
"Wherever your heart is, thats where you'll find your treasure." I always questioned what good thing would happen to me and where my heart was. I realized I had to find my heart in order to find the good thing in life.My heart was at Southwest High so I followed it here. The school was the chest. Everyone ive met here so far have been the jewels.
"No project has been completed until the objective is reached." In life, theres always a reason for something. For example, somtimes teachers give group assignments. Everyone immediately wants to have it finished, but it's not done until I learn from my peers. The objective of the project is to help my peers or get help myself and if that doesn't happen, youre not done with your project.
"Read often." Reading is one of my favorite things to do. A book teaches me a lot. Books have thought me how to live life to its fullest. I can grab any book and they all have messages that teach me something. Most of the time i just read a book for fun and at the end i will always learn something that helps make me a better

person.
Santiago has many problems in the story. The main one is the journey. He has to learn how to do things like to listen to the earth and himself. He always lacked confidence. He didn't believe in himself, so he encountered many problems, but once he started gaining confidence, with the help of the Alchemist, he learned to listen to himself and nature.
Paulo Coelho theme of the story was about how people should focus on fulfilling their personal legends. He writes to reach out the point that you should go after your goals and to not be scared to take risks. Although risks are scary, you have to take a shot at them because risks can bring good things in life. The moral is to go after what you believe in.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked that it spread positivity. I also like how the author gave advice to the readers and kept the book very real. It wasn't a fairy tale story which was my favorite thing, it teaches people what life is really like. There wasn't anything didnt enjoy. I thought the book was written perfectly.
