What Makes You You

There are many factors that make one look like, act like, or say certain things. Genetics determines most of who one is. For example, if your parents are really shy, you will most likely be shy too. My father is extraverted, which means that he is very outgoing and loud. My mother is more introverted, which means that she is quite quiet and reserved and thoughtful. I have some outgoing qualities thanks to my dad and some quiet qualities thanks to my mom. Sometimes, a child is very different from the parents. There are two main personality types: the A+ people and the –B people. The A+ people are the people that strive for perfection and work all day and all night to ensure that everything is done above and beyond expectations. A –B person is someone who is more laid back, casual, and does not care about much at all. I think that in some subjects I am more towards the A+ side and in others I am more towards the –B side. For example, when I set up Christmas decorations, everything must be in its exact spot, otherwise I have to start all over again. When learning vocabulary words, if I get one wrong, I have to start all over again. When I played the piano, if I messed up on one key, I had to start all over from the beginning. On weekends, the –B side of me comes out. All I ever want to do is lie down on my bed, eat food, and watch Netflix. I think that I am very similar to my father in where I place on this spectrum, but I am slightly farther down from where my mother places. This can be a problem sometimes. My mom will want me to study even more (after 5 hours) when I just want to relax for a bit. In other families, parents and children are exactly the same. ... your impulses. Sometimes, when my siblings and I get into a fight, I just get so angry that I thrash out at all of them, screaming my head off. Moments after I do this, I immediately regret this because I love my family, even though they do annoy me sometimes. It is so hard for me to control my initial reaction to bad things. It has gotten me into a lot of trouble. As I am maturing, I am starting to grow out of acting first, thinking later. This is because the brain develops. As you get older, you get wiser. You tend to think more before acting. Say there is a little girl in a classroom talking to her friend. Her friend says something mean without realizing it is mean (another example of acting without thinking) and the girl cries and screams at her friend because she is not old and mature enough to realize that crying and screaming will not help anything.
