The view of a person defines success in different ways than others define it. Some believe success has to do with having more and others define success as being happy with what they have. When we are young we are taught that to be successful in life we need to do good in school. These type of people believe money defines success. In our modern society people seem to believe that to be true because they can’t have anything without money. Although success can be defined differently, it seems to be defined majorly by money, happiness, and by social status people have gained. To begin with a lot of people define success with having a lot of money. …show more content…
In order for these people to be successful they need to go to a good school and get a college degree to obtain these higher paying jobs. and it manifests itself in a multitude of cultural and social ways.” The author discussed the problems that occur from economic and social classes. The purpose of this argument is to debate on what kind of people will be successful in life. Everyone has a shot at being successful, and that they do with it is
Success can be an extremely broad subject. There is an abounding amount of different views on what the “true” definition of success is. Personally, I believe that success is finding happiness. Success is waking up in the morning and not having to worry about whether or not the bills are going to be paid this month. Success is having a job that you enjoy going to every day. Success is having friends and family who love and support you. Success does not mean that one has to be exceedingly rich or have a lakeside mansion. As long as they are happy, they have succeeded in life.
Success can be a very hard word to define, simply because where you come from
Some people believe that if you work hard, get an education, and stay focused, you will be able to be successful and fulfill all your dreams. Others believe that only if you are born into a family of money will you be able to be wealthy. Both thoughts have some flaws in their description. For example, just because you always work hard and get an education does not mean some life event might happen that can cause some setbacks. Also, just because you are born into a wealthy family does not mean you are smart enough to keep the wealth.
Some people may be born into a family with wealth, and that is acceptable. Some people on the other hand, are not born into a family with wealth, and that is acceptable too. The work that families have done to get to the level they are in, are just a cushion. People should try to build their own reputation or success. Even if people work toward their goals of success, it could take years to reach, it isn’t something that happens over night usually. The way they act or present themselves in certain circumstances will determine if they succeed or fail. As much as people want to control every step toward that, there are things that are out of everyone's control. Every action they do, every decision they make, they can not control everything. There are certain things that can put a halt toward success, things many do not see coming till it happens. Oedipus had no idea that he was the one causing the sickness that was spreading through his kingdom. He was doing well as a king, but certain things can change that. His curse put on him when he was younger, was out of his control. The priest reminds Oedipus of his success depict the sickness surrounding them, “You saved us from Sphinx…”(40). Success may be the one thing you can control, but at the same time have no idea what could come
I believe the media has a large influence on that. Actors, actresses, musicians, athletes and other stars are often posting about money, and other things that people think you need to be considered successful. I will hopefully never become largely influenced by society and try to fit in the point that I will do things that I don’t enjoy, just to do
Subjective well-being is apparently a product of psychological reactions to external stimulants, and those reactions are a product of learning social paradigms through cultural influences. As such, it is not possible to strictly relate it to any given external circumstance, person, or object for all communities and individuals. In terms of money-making motivations, they are all equally related to subjective-wellbeing. Fulfilling financial goals leads to the achievement of desires, so it increases well-being while incomplete goals will lower subjective well-being. It is possible to argue that subjective well-being which arises from making money is only a temporary sensation that will eventually fade, so income levels are unstable and unreliable determinants of well-being.
It is a competitive job market and if one wants a high paying job he needs some college credentials. College is also said to prepare people to take on the world. Once one has graduated and has a well paying job he is on his way to becoming successful. People work their whole lives making money so they can satisfy their desires. The idea of being able to purchase the items one has always dreamt about is an achievement. People dream about owning a home and having beautiful things to fill it with. Many people take pride in what they possess. People want to own nice homes, nice cars, and nice clothes. Some need to look successful in order to feel successful. These people feel successful when they can admire what their hard work has given them.
Societal views are that having money is having happiness. The more money that you have often assumes through a societal lens that a person of wealth is happy. Judgment comes from each person’s frame of reference. American culture also drives this attitude.
Everyone has their own view of success and it is not only money that can make a person successful. I believe success can mean overcoming hardships. Nobody likes to feel pain or go through rough times, but
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
The term success can be used in a variety of connotations. Success is an arbitrary word, viewed, achieved, and judged differently by many people, groups and organizations. Success is set by what goals you give yourself and then later in life achieve. Everyone has different ambitions that once accomplished, may make them successful. Most people work hard throughout their whole life to achieve the things they desire and refer to that as being successful.
What is success? How do I define success well it is simple it is a way of completing something the way you wanted to complete it in the first place. When you succeed you finish the goal you set for yourself whether it is a long term or short term thing. You may not know if you completed your task because everything around you is not going how you expected when you first thought of it. It is also hard to tell because sometimes you may not even notice a change at first because success takes time.
Success takes many different definitions. People have different interpretations of what success really means. For me is as simple as: living well and laughing often. The idea of living well is a very broad statement. Living well, in my opinion is getting success in personal, social and professional life. If I can achieve all of these three levels of success, I believe that I have lived well.
Most puzzling, though, is that people often seem aware at some level that money won’t make them happy. And yet they continue to work away earning money they don’t objectively need.
