eer and College Research Paper
The career that I want to pursue after high school is surgery. More specifically, reconstructive plastic surgery. I want to do facial constructive surgery for children born with a cleft lip and palate. In addition to that, I want to perform reconstructive surgery on burn victims. I chose this career field because I was born with a cleft lip and palate, and know firsthand the impact a good surgeon can have on someone 's life. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
As a plastic surgeon, I would mostly be working in hospitals, not out of a private practice. I might have an office in the hospital where I am employed, but the place where a surgeon really earns his salary is in the operating room. Surgeons work in urban areas, because that is where the hospitals are. The best areas for plastic surgery are on the West Coast, the East Coast, and Texas. (“20-1067 Surgeons.”) The vast majority of surgeons work full time. Many of whom work strange hours. As a surgeon, I might work from 8 AM on one day to 8 AM the

The undergraduate degree that I am going to go for is Biomedical Engineering so that I have a well-paying job as a backup if I fail to get into medical school. For this class you have to take your basic science and math courses, as well as your basics that you must take for any degree such as English Composition 1 and 2. These can be very tedious, but they must be taken. Once you get into your junior and senior years of your undergraduate degree, you start to get into your higher level classes like calculus, chemistry, and physics. After I receive my undergraduate diploma, I will apply to medical school. Assuming I get in, medical school is four more years of school. It will take me eight years to get started as a
The career path that I want to pursue is in the medical field. I major in psychology and minor in biology because going to medical school has always been my desire. Being a pediatrician is my goal I wish to conquer. I am beyond interested and passionate about this career. It is not just a career, it is my life dreams. I want to be able to enjoy going to work every day knowing I love my job and I am here because I want to. Being a pediatrician I am able to work with children and many people of different cultures. I am thrilled to know that I will be capable of caring for sick children.
I have not decided whether I want to be either a general or pediatric surgeon, but it might change in the future once I experience different fields. One thing I learned was that surgeons have to spend a lot of time before and after the operation. One skill I believe I have that is important for this career is that I am prepared to do everything it takes to help my patient, and I am creative in creating new solutions in doing tasks. I think this career interests me the most is because it is broad and is continuously being evolved into more advanced, deeper areas. The hardest part of this profession is number of years of education needed, and the great amount of hours needed to work. The rewarding aspect is that I am saving lives and doing what I enjoy. Right now, I need to do my best in my undergraduate years to prepare for my medical school. In ten years, I want to have completed medical school and begin my residency at a hospital, and be happy about my
In today society, beauty in a woman seems to be the measured of her size, or the structure of her nose and lips. Plastic surgery has become a popular procedure for people, mostly for women, to fit in social class, race, or beauty. Most women are insecure about their body or face, wondering if they are perfect enough for the society to call the beautiful; this is when cosmetic surgery comes in. To fix what “needed” to be fixed. To begin with, there is no point in cutting your face or your body to add or remove something most people call ugly. “The Pitfalls of Plastic Surgery” explored the desire of human to become beyond perfection by the undergoing plastic surgery. The author, Camille Pagalia, took a look how now days how Americans are so obsessed
Most women want to have firm, perky and sexy breasts because it makes them feel good about themselves. However, over the years, factors such as aging, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, heredity, gravity and others can have a toll on their breasts causing them to lose firmness and change shape. Sagging breasts are not only unsightly, but also cause embarrassment and to women. As a result, some are willing to go to any length to get their strong and firm breasts back. One of the medical procedures that can help women rectify the sagging is breast lift surgery.
This career will fit my career path extremely well because I have the best personality for servicing others. I am humble and love to help others and I believe that this love for bringing good to others is why I would thrive at being an oral surgeon. However, I do have some qualities that will need some work before I become an oral surgeon. I am an introvert and I have a problem of going outside my comfort zone. Also, individuals tend to take advantage of people who have my personality because I will do everything in my power to help those in need. So on top of being academically gifted, I also need to read into others intentions before they abuse my help and
For our project, K-POP, we have decided to compare how the digital realm influenced the boom of cosmetic surgery in Korea compared to American plastic surgery, where digital means are a less common tool utilized to increase, accentuate, and bring publicity to this industry. We want to take a deeper look into how Korean pop culture and its technology may be influencing the process one takes to get plastic surgery, such as the advertising it provides for each individual plastic surgery. This is opposite of America, where plastic surgery is more taboo, therefore absent in these spaces. Through this research we are ultimately focusing, emphasizing, and analyzing how the digital realm of each country has recently influenced the plastic surgery industry,
My career is a surgeon to become a surgeon you have to complete four years of college in the medical field from colleges like
My future career goal is to become an anesthesiologist. An anesthesiologist administers an anesthetic to patients before going into surgery. They also have to keep monitor of vital life signs and make sure everything in the body is functioning properly while under the anesthetic. I think being an anesthesiologist is something I’d enjoy being because I like being in control. I like making sure people are okay and that is specifically what anesthesiologists do; they make sure the patient can’t feel any pain and is comfortable during surgery.
A surgeon's salary during their residency years is $187,200 per year or $90.00 an hour. A general surgeon’s yearly pay is $395,456. Pay may vary because of years in practice, geographic region of practice, hours worked, skill, personality, and professional reputation. A surgeon's pay is one of the highest pay wages of any occupation. Surgeons have a 14% growth of employment rate between 2014 and 2024 (Occupational Outlook Handbook). Some pros of being a surgeon is the highest paying rates of any occupation, healing people, working with other surgeons, and working in very sterile environments. Some cons of being a surgeon is at least 13 years of college after high school, long work hours, a person could/would die if you make a wrong decision, and being a surgeon will be tiring because a surgeon has to walk or run around a huge hospital and they don’t sit a lot while
Everyone has had their own personal stories of the times that they have been bullied; this could be anywhere from being bullied by their siblings to being bullied at school for things that they do or how they look. In school now, children from the ages of 5 all the way up until they are 18 or older are getting bullied for the ways that they look. Children all throughout school had dreamt of the day where they could just take their defected body part off and just switch it with a new “normal” body part. Most children do not know that there are doctors out there who can either remove undesirable body parts, or replace and enhance those body parts. There are thousands of people each year just in the United States that undergo cosmetic and plastic
When it comes to plastic surgery procedures, breast augmentation surgery (breast implant surgery) remains at the top of the list and continues to rise: The 2016 American Society of Plastic Surgeons National Plastic Surgery Statistics Report states that breast augmentation procedures increased by 4 percent from 2015 (279,143) to 2016 (290,467). Dr. Nina S. Naidu is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who frequently performs breast implant surgeries for women who reside in New York City, including the Bronx.
If you don’t have children this question can seem irrelevant, however whether or not you have a child you will be affected by them. You will be affected economically and/or socially by teen plastic surgery. If you do have children then you could be directly affected; someday you may have to decide whether or not to let your teen receive plastic surgery. Even if you don’t have to decide about plastic surgery, you will be faced with deciding how to foster a healthy self confidence in your child. Plastic surgery is a terrible idea for teens because they are still growing, there are several health risks, and it doesn’t teach them to love or accept themselves as they are. Plastic surgery is bad for
With so many jobs in the world it’s so hard to choose just one. Do you want to be an athlete or a doctor? You have to decide wisely because once you choose turning back is a difficult task. Being a surgeon is the job I want to have as an adult. Being a surgeon may be hard but in the long run it’s worth it. This career caught my attention as a kid. I would always watch these ER shows and see these crazy tasks that they would have to deal with, and through all that they’d be calm and collective. Seeing a surgeon save someone’s life inspires me to want to do the same thing. If I would have the ability to save someone’s life, it would allow me to see the world in a whole new way. Every year more than 15 million people in the U.S. have surgery. That being said the need for surgeons will never decrease, as there always will be a surgery to perform. A surgeon is always on call everyday of the year, they need to be able to perform under some of the most pressures situations. Five things one must understand when researching a career are: career description historical perspective, salary, training and education and career progression.
According to The New Yorker, South Korea has the highest rate of plastic surgery per capita in the world (Chung, 2015). Seoul, South Korea is described as the World’s plastic-surgery capital. Many people who receive plastic surgery base their desired looks on Anime characters. Their looks in South Korea matter more then their inner aspects such as personality.
General surgeons earn around the same amount of pay as pediatric surgeons at $187,200 per year, however your experience affects your average pay. Again, to me, any job that you could possibly change someone’s life for the better is a job that is worth more than the amount of money
