When it comes to plastic surgery procedures, breast augmentation surgery (breast implant surgery) remains at the top of the list and continues to rise: The 2016 American Society of Plastic Surgeons National Plastic Surgery Statistics Report states that breast augmentation procedures increased by 4 percent from 2015 (279,143) to 2016 (290,467). Dr. Nina S. Naidu is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who frequently performs breast implant surgeries for women who reside in New York City, including the Bronx.

Saline – a saline implant has a silicone shell that is filled with salt water (saline). It can be compared to a water balloon. This implant is placed empty and filled after insertion. This allows Dr. Naidu to use a smaller incision than is necessary for silicone breast implants. Silicone – a silicone breast implant consists of a silicone shell that is filled with a silicone gel that feels similar to gelatin. Form-Stable Cohesive Gel – this implant device is also referred to as the ‘gummy bear implant.’ It was given this nickname because its texture is much like that of a gummy bear.
