I. On May 27, 1998, I, Mani Kallupurackal was born in Trivandrum, India. I lived in India for around 7 years then moved to Arizona. I stayed there for another six years and finally moved to florida when I was thirteen and eventually ended up in an IB English class, writing this career paper. I feel enjoyment in a lot of things whether it be playing saxophone, doodling, hanging out with my friends, or simply sleeping. Although, I think I like working at my job at Mathnasium the most. I always had fun from the first day I started working from interacting with the students and teaching them math. When I was a kid, I wanted to have multiple skills like being a surgeon, lawyer, architect, and an astronaut all at the same time. However, once I realized the amount of schooling required for each profession, I thought it would be best to only pick one. Since then, I decided I either wanted to be a pediatric/general surgeon or a psychiatrist. As time …show more content…
I have not decided whether I want to be either a general or pediatric surgeon, but it might change in the future once I experience different fields. One thing I learned was that surgeons have to spend a lot of time before and after the operation. One skill I believe I have that is important for this career is that I am prepared to do everything it takes to help my patient, and I am creative in creating new solutions in doing tasks. I think this career interests me the most is because it is broad and is continuously being evolved into more advanced, deeper areas. The hardest part of this profession is number of years of education needed, and the great amount of hours needed to work. The rewarding aspect is that I am saving lives and doing what I enjoy. Right now, I need to do my best in my undergraduate years to prepare for my medical school. In ten years, I want to have completed medical school and begin my residency at a hospital, and be happy about my
Oddly enough, I liked giving obese, old patients bed baths, helping them to the bathroom, and cleaning their bed pans. But, don’t get me wrong. It wasn’t exactly what I loved doing, but I knew it was part of the job, and I willingly did the dirty work. By the end of my junior year, I knew I loved the hospital environment and wanted to eventually work there; however, I just didn’t know in what capacity. Fortunately, during a slow day in my last semester of shadowing, a nurse asked me if I would like to see a surgery being performed. I quickly accepted the offer, and I got to watch a surgeon perform an eye lift procedure. This experience, one of the most interesting I had ever witnessed, made me realize the area of the hospital that interested me most, the operating room. More specifically, I wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. The path to become an orthopedic surgeon is not a quick nor easy one. To become an orthopedic surgeon, one must first be accepted into medical school, graduate medical school, and then complete post medical school requirements such as residency and
My future career goal is to become an anesthesiologist. An anesthesiologist administers an anesthetic to patients before going into surgery. They also have to keep monitor of vital life signs and make sure everything in the body is functioning properly while under the anesthetic. I think being an anesthesiologist is something I’d enjoy being because I like being in control. I like making sure people are okay and that is specifically what anesthesiologists do; they make sure the patient can’t feel any pain and is comfortable during surgery.

I have known from an early age that I’ve wanted to become a doctor. Helping people has always been a passion of mine. When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. However, after working with young children I have found that I love working with them, and have a connection with children. Currently, I am interested in becoming either a neonatologist or a general pediatrician so I can continue to work with young children.
My ultimate value is my family. My vision for my own self is to live happily with my family in the future. I love to spend my spare time with them. Hanging around with friends and family make me feel well. I love to play on computer. I also love to play with the magical numbers. I like surfing on the internet, exploring new things, reading articles related with health, life, and economic events such as the stock market, financial companies, investment corporations, etc. I think being a citizen of a country, we should somewhat at different aspects of life to better know how well or bad the economy of our country is experiencing. My goal is to become a businessperson. I believe doing business is an important way to improve the economy of a nation. I did a research on two different careers. However, they are sort of having a relation with each other. Both of them are in the business field – accounting and financial analyzing.
The medical profession of saving young lives on a day to day basis is pediatric surgery . Being a Pediatric Surgeon requires years of study, and a mindset, able to handle the world of Pediatrics. To be a Pediatric Surgeon commands a true love for the profession you are entering. This profession demands a desire to work with the complex anatomy that we call our bodies. To make it as a Pediatric Surgeon, you must have a genuine love for the children you treat. Not only do work with children, you also work with their families and loved ones. These are just a few of the reasons why Pediatric Surgery is the career for me.
In order to determine whether or not clinical medicine was the right career for me, I started shadowing Dr. Richard Turner in the ER. Through my experiences with him, I learned that medicine is a problem solving process. As I watched, he would take a patient's history and try to piece together the correct diagnosis by deciding which scenarios were more likely than others. I was attracted by the dynamic nature of each patient's diagnosis and the necessity for an open mind. My hobby of flying has taught me to look at everything in life with a new perspective and to assess the situation from as many angles as possible. Watching Dr. Turner has confirmed my perception of a medical career and the nature of the work involved. Since I love puzzles and problems, the problem solving aspect also increased my desire to become a physician.
The occupation I would like to have in the future is to be a Psychologist. A Psychologist is a person that studies the mental processes and behavior of the human mind. They are licensed to see and treat patients, treating them with therapy or mental and behavior issues the patients might have. A Psychologist cannot give the patient's medication because they don’t have a medical degree, Psychiatrists can give medication because they do get medical degrees. Psychologists can be a licensed Psychologist with a degree level of bachelor's, masters or Ph.D.’s.
My career choice is to become a pediatrician. The question is: what makes this job so interesting or fantastic enough to be chosen? This job requires many sacrifices, skills, and strengths to endeavor the obstacles on the way to the goal. This particular job is also a very honorable and noble job in the sense of helping children with their illnesses and ailments. Personally, I love children and I’m always fascinated by their actions and interesting techniques of expressing themselves. Since I am intrigued by the children’s personality I love spending time with them (and that’s why their child-like ways rub off on me). Thus, I believe that my own childish personality and my love of children will motivate me in the near future to help them out with their medical needs. Also, being a pediatrician and helping out children has its own rewards. Not only will I be doing something I enjoy, but I will be getting paid a generous price as well. A pediatrician’s salary is not the highest one compared to surgeons or cardiologists, but it’s enough to have a life that is something more than simply satisfying. Another good aspect of this job is that they only focus on the health of children rather than all of the age groups. An adult and a child are so different they are nearly two different species. If a child is brought to a doctor who specializes in all age groups, the child would not be getting the same kind of attention that he or she would be getting, compared to that from a doctor who specializes only in children. Doctors that specialize in all age groups are used to make quick, rough, and fundamental actions need for the healing of the patient. One does not simply treat a child the same way an adult would be treated. The child would becom...
In the future, I hope to pursue my career dream of becoming a pediatrician. Pediatricians can be identified individuals who specialize in giving medical care to children and adolescents between infancy to adulthood at eighteen years of age. I became inspired to become a pediatrician due to my immense love of children. Perhaps I have an innate intuition for taking care of people being that I have always felt that I excel at taking care of others. The idea of taking care of others truly makes me feel that I serve a purpose, not only to better the life of myself but the life of others. Therefore, I believe that becoming a pediatrician will help me combine the best of both worlds into a career that I adore and cherish.
Introduction The results of my personal inventory turned out to be not very surprising. My five career clusters are the following: Professional Support Services, Teaching and Training, Therapeutic Services, Counseling and Mental Health Services, and Administrative and Administrative Support. I was not surprised when I saw these career clusters because they each involve helping people. For example, in cluster one, which was Professional Support Services, one of the jobs listed was Librarian, and they help people find the information that they need to complete their task.
As I grew up I always knew what I wanted to have as a profession; normally, my idea of that great profession would change every week. My dreams changed over time along with my interests. Now, as I grow older, I understand that I must make a decision and choose the path I want to take. I enjoy learning about science and math the most in school. To solve equations and perform labs are my favorite actions to accomplish, and that’s how I narrowed down my job choices: Veterinarian, Pharmaceutical Scientist, and Pharmacist.
With so many jobs in the world it’s so hard to choose just one. Do you want to be an athlete or a doctor? You have to decide wisely because once you choose turning back is a difficult task. Being a surgeon is the job I want to have as an adult. Being a surgeon may be hard but in the long run it’s worth it. This career caught my attention as a kid. I would always watch these ER shows and see these crazy tasks that they would have to deal with, and through all that they’d be calm and collective. Seeing a surgeon save someone’s life inspires me to want to do the same thing. If I would have the ability to save someone’s life, it would allow me to see the world in a whole new way. Every year more than 15 million people in the U.S. have surgery. That being said the need for surgeons will never decrease, as there always will be a surgery to perform. A surgeon is always on call everyday of the year, they need to be able to perform under some of the most pressures situations. Five things one must understand when researching a career are: career description historical perspective, salary, training and education and career progression.
As I reflect and look at my career journey, I realize that I have not really had a career journey. I have held a few jobs; however, I have not had a job I would consider my career yet. Furthermore, I only worked for a couple of months in each of the jobs I had in the past. Currently, I do not have a job yet, and I realize that I am now 24 years of age and should be starting my way to my career. However, I have not looked into jobs in my career field because I feel as though I am not ready yet to start working in my field.
My parents set the foundation to my life and nurtured me through a value system which makes me what I am today and defines what success means to me. I have always had the freedom to choose my work according to what interested me and had the flexibility to grow in the career path of my choice. My interest in Mathematics made me realistic in my approach towards life and its complicated challenges. With the interest towards communications during my school days, I had visualized a blueprint of how my professional life should look like. I took up Mathematics and Physics stream in my senior school education. With further determination, I completed my under-graduation in Electronics and Communication engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, a premier college with state of art facilities, af...
