It is said that everyone has a favorite place where they feel secure and at home, somewhere that allows them to think clearly which leads to a deeper understanding of themselves. Growing up in Florida, I have spent a large amount of time in the beach town of Boca Grande, a place where fast food chains and high rises do not exist. On the far north end of the island, there is a place that is truly special to me. I do not know what it is about that spot on that little island, but there is something about it that leads me to deeper understanding about myself, and makes me truly enjoy life.
At the north end of the island, there is a small dirt road that arguably leads to the most scenic spot in Florida. Oftentimes when I am dealing with a problematic

Over the past couple years, I have learned not to take anything for granted and truly appreciate my life. One afternoon I was watching two boats fishing, one on a luxurious boat and the other on a skiff. Simultaneously, both boats hooked up on a tarpon, one of the most prized game fish in the world. As I was watching both boats battle the fish, I noticed something interesting. The men on the luxurious boat became tense and began to argue, neither of them looked like they were enjoying the breathtaking moment. As I watched the men on the skiff, they were ecstatic and having the time of their lives. It was amazing of how opposite the reaction was on each boat. This made me realize that no matter how wealthy or poor you are, it is important to enjoy life and be appreciate what you …show more content…
Before I left for college, I often reminisce on the good times I have had with my friends and family. Whether that be spending countless hours on the boat with my dad, or sleeping on the beach with my best friends. When I watch the waves lapse on the beach, and the boats drive by, it makes me appreciate the everlasting connections I have made on that island. I have learned over the years that my spot is more than a place where I can mentally reset, but somewhere that has led to lifelong relationships with
Each person has a place that calls to them, a house, plot of land, town, a place that one can call home. It fundamentally changes a person, becoming a part of who they are. The old summer cabins, the bedroom that was always comfortable, the library that always had a good book ready. The places that inspire a sense of nostalgic happiness, a place where nothing can go wrong.
Place has a major impact on the persons comfort. We describe place with our interactions and the thinks we value in that location. The sense of place can be someone’s home, the beach, a lake, and the location of their first kiss. My special place is Table Rock trail in the Pickens, South Carolina. I knew this place was special to me because of the different interactions I experienced that not only created new memories but also resulted in me thinking about old memories. The most meaningful quote is from the novel Children, Youth, and Environments, “sense of place is the lens through which people experience and make meaning of their experiences in and with place” (Adams pg. 23). I will never forget the emotions I faced when reflecting next to the waterfall with nothing but nature surrounding me. Table Rock was a place that was meaningful and I sparked a connection to the location, which resulted in creating special
Many people desire a place to go where they can fulfill are there desires. Many people yearn for a place to go where they can carry out there wildest dreams. I have found my place to encompass all of these feelings. My place of escape was New Orleans, Louisiana. Since Hurricane Katrina devastated the country with its monstrous winds. New Orleans was a perfect place designed for amusement, vacation, and partying. Thousands of people came from all over the world to experience what New Orleans had to offer. From its hotels, music, food, and diversity, New Orleans provides a load of variety that most cities can't come close
No matter the walk you take in life at the end of the day are you rich with love, respect and honor. Or, are you poverty stricken simply because you choose not to allow love, respect and honor to shine through. Not only on yourself but, also on those around you. In life a hard lesson needs to be learned and we can only learn this for ourselves, be rich because of who you are and not what you have because in the end people will not remember the house you had, the material possessions you bought or gifts that you gave, what they will remember is if you held your head high, even through the rough times, the respect you gave and most importantly, the love you
These are the reasons why I need my special place. Without a place to go I would probably have an ulcer. I believe that everyone needs a place to go to get away from it all. It is an opportunity to explore a new and unique world all of my own. I can enjoy activities that I once got to enjoy when I was a kid, I can think through all the problems in my head, and most of all, I can get away from those people who give me the ulcer.
Beginning with our current and so far to what we have read the topics about biophilia, sustainable urban development, and that of sustainable transport, I can say I have so far learned more comprehensively about sustainability and the subsequent movement back toward a semblance of biophilia, then I have from all my previous schooling. Taking into account how many years it has been since that I’ve had to learn/relearn and also that of the generational gap of information encompassing these given topics, and with my knowledge (and/or lack thereof) may be sparse in consistency there certainly is a lack of usable knowledge from that of when I was in the earlier years (to ease confusion this refers to the levels of k-12) of schooling and that of the known usable knowledge now. To start this essay I will talk about the influences that were/are important in my education, what has/is the primary source to shape my education, and my past/present educational experiences.
Although it has been years since our most recent visit to the shore side of Ocean City, New Jersey, the memories and senses never abandon my mind. All I can recall is the wondrous combination of the scorching heat, the grainy sand in between my toes, and the overwhelming smell of salt and delicious foods . . . I feel as if I am standing right there right now! Who could ever relinquish the beauty of the shore, the healing the shore accomplishes, and the tastes of the wondrous foods?
James Henslin (2015) defines social location as “the corners in life that people occupy because of their place in a society” (p.2). Also it states that “sociologist look at how jobs, income, education, gender, race-ethnicity, and age affects people ideas and behavior.”(p.2).
Galveston Island, my happy place. Even though, life has a funny way of getting in the way I was still able to create an abundance of memories before I could no longer experience my “happy place” with all the people that made it…well,
Have you ever visited a place so beautiful and serene that you couldn’t imagine a more stunning place? For me, it is the shimmering and flowing waters of the ocean. The way that the deep blue waters meet the gritty beige sand leaves me in such awe. The water is like a soft blanket, comforting and inviting. The unique wildlife and vegetation that exists on the beach is something I’ve never seen anywhere else. There is no place more beautiful and thrilling than the beach.
Everyone has a special place that people will never forget. Sometimes it is because there were places that people experienced great joy or comfort. A special place represents peoples’ special memories either good or bad. Memory will following people whole life, and store people’s heart deeper. Good memory will coming all time. My special place and my memory is my grandparent’s house; my grandparent’s house practically is my second home. I would never forget that special place because of things going on my grandparent’s house, which is symbolized by my grandparent’s love.
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
I am planning a trip to my dream destination, the United Kingdom! I have always dreamed of going to London and exploring all of the beautiful landscapes the country has to offer. On my voyage I will be accompanied by my boyfriend, Damian, and my younger sister, Taylor. Before we can begin our journey we have to do the proper research so our trip will be everything we want it to be.
My favorite place as a child was County Park Lake. When we had family picnics because we all got together and there was great food and kids playing and the adults playing horse-shoes and could tell there was love for one another. There was no other place like this when I was a child. Some of my fondest memories was at that picnic site we should all have memories likes those.
My most memorable trip was the day I went to the Children 's Memorial Hospital to meet my baby brother. Meeting my brother was an indelible moment because I had never felt such happiness and love for someone. On our way there, I also got to create a bond with both my parents and learn how to be a better happier person. At the time I was sixteen years old and was going through a stage where I felt depressed and that’s why the day I arrived at the hospital to meet my brother I felt this warmth in my heart that made me feel happy again.
