In the articles, "What's it like o be a kid in the White House? Kids have a lot of ideas" by Caitlin Gibson, and "Is it tough being a kid, Try being a president's kid" by Darlene Superville, describes what happens in the first kid's life in the White House. The first mentioned goes into more detail of what kids outside the White House think what happens, and then the reality is explained. However, the other gives only reality and how much stress and embarrassment of the publicity the first kids have to go though. This is why I believe that "Is it tough being a kid, try being a president's kid" is most accurate in describing the first kid's, or Barron's new life. An example of one of his problems can be illustrated in the text when it states, "Ten-year-old Barron was the target of a poorly received joke tweeted by a 'Saturday Night Live' writer on Jan. 20 as the new first family reveled in Inauguration Day events"(Superville, 1). …show more content…
It shows that these kids can not be "kids" anymore without being criticized for it. They are put under a lot of pressure to act exactly how the media expects them to. Although "What's it like to be a kid in the White House? Kids have a lot of ideas" gives opinions and realities of living in the White House, such as when the informative article states, "They get awesome food, that's for sure, and - if their parents allow it- they can have whatever they want,' Lengel says. 'They get to meet famous people. Think of all the celebrities. Obama brought sports heroes and musicians into the White House"(Gibson, 4). However, this article only shows the good sides of being in the White
...protective shield around their children. Do they really believe this is to the benefit of our youth? It is understandable to want to protect children from unnecessary evils, but sometimes in constructing walls around their worldly vision they are in all actuality cutting their children off from reality. It is so much healthier and helpful to confront these issues head-on, rather than trying to skirt around them. In fact, in the long-run, as can be seen through the misinterpretation of "Romeo and Juliet" by the students, such avoidance of the matter at hand will often prove more harmful in the development of young minds.
The world has experienced many changes in past generations, to the present. One of the very most important changes in life had to be the changes of children. Historians have worked a great deal on children’s lives in the past. “While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.”- Author Unknown
Along with a strong appeal to logos, the speaker uses a sentimental tone to support the points that we stopped kids from doing creative things. From his personal experience, Robinson maintains, “When you were kids, things you liked, on the grounds that you would never get a job.” The essence of the speaker’s argument is that we only encourage our kids for doing something worthy. When we say that things they like to do have no scope, this emotionally affects kids. Ultimately, guardian just put the weight of their ambitions on the delicate shoulders of their kids. This builds the pressure on students to meets with the expectations of their guardian. Therefore, one should understand that every child has his own specialty, potential, and liking.
The childhood of a young boy is very crucial in what he will be like in his own life.

Quindlen believes adults led this to happen with the fear of their child being bored and getting into trouble. A culture of adults believe that if they let their child get bored they will get into trouble, therefore the child is overworked with responsibilities with minimal free time. Quindlen enforces the type of summer that forces children to play outside, to be bored, and to entertain themselves with their own unique ways. Television, computers, and video games do not bring justice to the busy youth, they simply add to the schedule of overwhelming events. Quindlen begins the article by stating how boring summer is, but she wasn’t referring to it in a negative manner. Being bored is a gift that often goes unappreciated and unrecognized but can pay off in the long run with a life full of creativity and extraordinary
This article focused on children who are labeled as “spoiled brats”. A child psychologist named Ron Taffel defined a “spoiled brat” as someone who has a constant set of expectations they feel entitled to. You see many children, even adults who you can label as a spoiled brat, I see many people like this in public places, especially children. I see children throw tantrums in public places when their parents refuse to buy them an item they feel entitled to because they’ve always gotten everything they want. This is one thing that you should not do, children should not always get everything they want just because they say so. You should teach your children the difference between a right, and a privilege. Children should earn what they want so
This is the age old story of a mildly accomplished member of an older generation criticizing the emerging younger generation in the current news platform calling them lazy, entitled, self-centered, risqué, and condescendingly judges them as if their own generation was not treated the same way, or is it? Well it’s both types of article, but like any good horror movie or reality show, this article has a few surprise plot twists in store for the reader with a moderately good ending.
George H.W. Bush deserves to be the Person of the Decade due to his commitment to making America into a better country. He became the 41st president, and he is best known for his foreign policy and making peace with other countries such as China and the Soviet Union. Not only he was one of the greatest presidents, Bush also dedicated himself to politics before his presidency. He had many positions such as the United States ambassador and the director of the CIA. Bush should be the Person of the Decade due to his sacrifices and commitments to the United States.
Ever since President Trump’s inauguration, Barron Trump has been mocked for being a kid. Both articles, “What’s it like being a kid in the White House? Kids have a lot of ideas” by Caitlin Gibson and “Is it tough being a kid? Try being the president’s kid” by Darlene Superville try to explain how it must be for Barron Trump to live in the White House. In my opinion, I believe that the article “Is it tough being a kid? Try being the president’s kid” by Darlene Superville portrays how it must be for Barron Trump to live in the White House under the spotlight and glory more accurately. In the first article, ten-year-old kids are interviewed to see what they think the White House could be like for Barron Trump. Most of the kids thought it would be great to have expensive parties and have things all to yourself, but what they do not understand
“Kids come in and they work, and they don’t get a lot of sleep at night, by their own choice because they stay up talking. But you know, they come out and give everything they’ve got every day,” said Garza. “It changes the kid’s lives. Some of them have never held a paint brush. It leaves an impact on their lives, not just the people that they are doing it for.”
Throughout the article written by Hall and Rudkin, they discuss how children comprehend the essential rights and laws in a community. In this article, they tell us adults throughout society promote children’s understanding of responsibilities and rules in their community. Hall and Rudkin (2011) converse about “how to support children as protagonists in communities, that is, actors, agents, and co-constructors of civic life” (p. 52). Along with this, they state that we as society should not hide a world from children in which they are already a part of. This article gives us an example of how children can be apart of the community even in a very small setting. The children attempted to understand what Crystal, the hamster, wanted out of her
Children are the next generation that will continues our legacy in the future to develop our country or world in terms of adminstrations, economical, politic and social towards better life. For the past 25 years kids have been spending decreasing amounts of time outdoors. The time that kids do spend outdoors is frequently a part of an organized sports activity. Other activities taking up children’s time include indoor lessons and organized events such as music, art and dance lessons. Another big indoor activity, taking up to 7.5 hours a day of children’s time according to a Kaiser Family Foundation study, is electronic entertainment. Of course some of these activities bring joy and fulfillment to the kids, but, in return, time for free play has decreased."Since about 1955 ... children's free play has been continually declining, at least partly because adults have exerted ever-increasing control over children's activities," says the author Peter Gray, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology (emeritus) at Boston College. Therefore, children should be left more time for free play without have scheduled activities that will make they feel controlled and do not have any freedom. The children should be left more time for free play because it can encourage kids to interact with others, helping kids to conquer their fears and teaching kids to work in groups.
‘Children/ Young people, after all, are not just adults-in-the-making. They are people whose current needs and rights and experiences must be taken seriously.’
