Fashion Modeling
Although fashion modeling is very difficult to get into, models in this category are more likely to succeed. Though fashion models are noted for their strong and distinctive features, generally, to become one, you have to be young, thin, and tall.
When it comes to fashion modeling, there are three different types of work available for models. These are:
• Runway
Runway models are those who bring to life the creations of a designer. They make sure they display and carry them to their best possible advantage.
For this type, models are expected to move comfortably in all clothes. But among all modeling work, this is among the highest-paid and the easiest and most effective way to be a part of the A-list.
• Print
Fashion print models are those that are seen in fashion and beauty print advertising. They are the individuals that are often featured in ad campaigns and other print

While most part models are hired to do freelance work, the best way to be in the parts modeling category is to be represented by modeling agencies.
In the parts modeling category, there are different body parts that can be featured. Among these are:
• Hair
Hair models are often required to have beautiful and healthy hair. They are hired to use hair products or be featured in commercial and advertisements.
• Legs
Leg models are noted for their long and gorgeous legs. They are seen in pantyhose ads or magazines.
• Hands
Hand models need to have impeccable hands and clean nails. They are featured in various jewelry ads or in other projects that require a pair of lovely hands.
Each type of modeling work has different demands, which include the length of contract and pay rates. So, if you really wish to pursue a career in this industry, you need to consider a lot of things ahead of time. Consider the career you will be making out of the available modeling jobs, especially that the competition in this industry is
...ssed with such skills to be successful, there is always time to improve both business and designing skills to become a successful fashion designer.
As a teenaged girl or young adult, you want to dress to impress. Models on the television and in magazines wear outfits that you wish you could own. The young, beautiful, blonde-headed model makes it seem like you are not pretty enough to wear these outfits. In the Cosmopolitan advertisement for an American Eagle Outfitters jean jacket, the blonde-headed woman is wearing the jacket. On one half of the ad, the woman is standing near water with a fence between the two. The waters location is beside the city. In this shot, she is jumping from one bench to the other, living freely. The center of the picture is the American Eagle Outfitters jean jacket. On the other half of the ad, is a close up shot of the model. All that’s shown in this picture is the woman’s face and the jean jacket. However, her hair covers up some of her face.
“Girls of all kinds can be beautiful --- from the thin, plus- sized, short, very tall, ebony to porcelain- skinny, the quirky, clumsy, shy, outgoing and all in between” (Tyra Banks). Tyra Banks is a worldwide model, actress, and businesswoman. She has modeled for numerous magazines and brands, such as Victoria Secret, Covergirl, and Vogue. She is also known for her TV production, America’s Next Top Model. In this show, she helps women and men of all types to become a model. However, based on the type of model someone wishes to become, there is usually an image the company wants. If someone wished to become a model who walks on the catwalks and runways, the companies would only want to take the client if they are tall, and lanky. Modeling
Throughout time, bright designers, world-known magazines and famous models, where few are only African-Americans, had represented fashion. The fashion industry is one of the most demanding industries ever created. On one hand, designers have to be unique, professionals, consistent and most important, famous, to keep up with the industry. On the other hand, models have to be beautiful, with unique personalities, and most important, skinny. Before the Civil Right Movement, white Americans models and designers represented the fashion industry until famous models such as Naomi Campbell, and Iman Abdulmajid entered the industry. They were the most influential models in the 1980’s and 1990’s with their personal contribution on the industry. Beauty did not only brought goods and happiness; it also brought controversy and discrimination.
The life of models has always looked so glamorous; that’s the point. Girls and women are supposed to aspire to look and live like them, and boys and men are supposed to aspire to date them. However, many of these girls’s dreams are crushed when they are nonchalantly told that they can not be a model if they expect to eat ice cream everyday like they already do, or if they are only 5 foot 4 and they are told that models have to be taller than that to even be considered for the job. Teenage boys get their dreams crushed when they realize that only star athletes and wealthy men get to date what’s considered the prettiest people in the world. This has to make us question why all the advertisements today feature these types of people:
Everybody knows that models are not perfect even if they look perfect. You assume, oh she's perfect because she's a model, and she's walking down the catwalk while I'm here sitting down, watching her, eating potato chips, and drinking a coke. People need to learn to face reality nobody is perfect, not even models. Did you know that most of the models they use in catwalks are normally size 0 models because some fashion industry's think that size 0 models are a better size to use to design then an avegage sized person. Size 0 models should be banned because they are a bad influence for teenagers, most models are suffering from anorexia, and models get pressured by their mentors to be skinnier and when that doesn't work they turn to surgery.
Modeling has been an ideal for both men and women; it’s given us a standard of beauty that can cause both aspiration and jealousy. Over the decades, the once high standards that were given to models to provide both ambition and longevity has now slackened. Models are much more “plump” as society has adapted to a more dormant lifestyle; appealing to the everyday average man/woman.

Soley L., Reid L. (1988), “Taking it off: Are models in magazine ads wearing less?” Journalism Quarterly, 65, Winter, 960-966.
“My lips and fingers were blue because I was so thin that my heart was struggling to pump blood around my body”, said teen model fashion Georgina (Carroll 1). The new skinny has become excessively scrawny. Is it definitely not normal for today’s society models to walk around with blue fingers starving themselves until their organs start failing! As for the model agencies, they couldn’t care less of the pressure and dangerous practices they put the models through in order for them to stay thin for the runway. Even fashion Designers continue to produce the smallest couture sample sizes and scout for the slimiest bodies to wear the designs not aware of the consequences of the pressure they not only put on models, but on the society girls to look like these starving models. And when the models continue to get offers from the most important fashion industries like Prada, it motivates them to keep doing what they are doing to stay in the shape they are in (Carroll 1). But little did the outside world know what this pressure had on the models and what they were doing to their bodies to peruse their modeling careers.
Fashion models don’t need to be thin, they need to be diverse and healthy at whatever weight that is. Not everyone is supposed to be thin, some women are big boned and curvy, others are naturally slim and small boned, some are tall, others are short, some are light skinned and others are darker. So many diverse looks exist in the world today and the fashion industry need to change their perception of perfect. Body image in our society is out of control. We have young men and women comparing themselves to unrealistic models and images in the media and feeling bad about the way their own bodies look because they somehow don’t measure up. (Dunham, 2011) The struggle for models to be thin has led to models becoming anorexic or bulimic, untimely deaths, and inferiority complexes. Even worse is the fact that they influence a whole generation of young women who look up to these models and think “thin” is how they are supposed to be. They influence what we buy, how we eat and what we wear. Why has this specific group captured our attention so much? Why do we seem to be so fascinated in their lives, to the point where we try to look and act just like them? The media is largely to be blamed for this, many people believe the media has forced the notion that everything supermodels do is ideal. Others believe that the society is to be blamed because we have created a fascination with their lives. There are many opinions, and I agree with both of these specific opinions. We allow ourselves to be captivated by these people's lives, and the media portrayal of their lives seem to also enthrall us. (Customessaymeister, 2013) Despite the severe risks of forcing models to become too thin, designers, fashion editors, fashion brands and agencies still ...
Most people use them for walking but the are other limbs like arms hands and feet. Prosthetics are a beneficial piece of technology because of good smooth function and a lot of change. To begin with, Lee Romney wrote, ”We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was.Better...stronger...faster.” This means if someone need the prosthetic limb they could have it more than human. Just think with a strong limb you could be an
Fashion Industries all over the world are the cause of so many deaths and eating disorders of models with their force of having to be skinny. Many anorexic models are often found on the catwalks are pressurized to be below average size and weight with around 40% of models are found with some type of eating disorder. Many even have been told by their managers that they are too ‘fat’ and need to lose weight if they are to keep their jobs. The models customarily start vigorously dieting, intensive exercise or sometimes involving the use of laxatives, which gradually evolves into victualing disorders like anorexia, bulimia and binge victualing which can eventually lead to death. Models with untreated anorexia nervosa can suffer major health issues as well, such as heart failure, liver disease, calcium deficiency and kidney stones.
A Fashion photograph is not just there for you to look at and like or dislike and pass it through your memory. But it’s there to give you a storyline, a desire, an illusion and a fantasy. The image makes you want to buy what is being advertised to you.
I enjoy making sketches of clothing that one day will hopefully be available in stores all over. Fashion designing in my opinion is a way to express the unique side of your creativity, also fashion designing is a career that I believe I can achieve in so highly if I stay focused and continue to putting forth effort in my creations. I could see interior designing as a possible career in my future because it’s somewhat similar to fashion designing just in the designing area. Both involve having a since of style and an eye for color, texture and pattern coordination.
