Modeling has been an ideal for both men and women; it’s given us a standard of beauty that can cause both aspiration and jealousy. Over the decades, the once high standards that were given to models to provide both ambition and longevity has now slackened. Models are much more “plump” as society has adapted to a more dormant lifestyle; appealing to the everyday average man/woman.
These “plump” models have made it seem as if it’s socially acceptable to work while “plump.” The reason thin models were so favored around the 1950s was because it gave young teenage boys and girls inspiration to “workout and eat healthy” so you can feel both beautiful inside and out. Now, the obesity rate for both men and women have drastically increased (Up to 20%), and their is no motivation in them whatsoever. With the addition of “plump models” it’s given them a reason to not live a better lifestyle.

It’s just a reminder that you are constantly being judged on your appearance. No one’s body was created perfect, that’s why it’s your duty to sculpt it. Looking at magazines with all these tall, gorgeous models made you question why you don’t look like them; it’s the simple fact that you haven’t tried hard enough. Fashion is a business, and a business will only accept those that meet their standards. changing our standards would not give young adults, and children will not give them the resilience, and quick-mind of expectations that they should
