My view on the world is full of hope, disappointment, fear, but most of all a complete realization that people are hurting in this world and my daily actions do influence people's’ lives. If I were to be able to meet someone from another country, I wouldn’t take that opportunity lightly whatsoever. I believe interactions like that can connect people and form the relationships necessary for the betterment of all people. To explain my view better, I’d carry my bible, a letter from a peer in school, and my grandma’s Mexican tea cakes.
My bible would be necessary for my trip because reading and studying what it has to say has opened my eyes to everyone around me, putting them on a “human” level and showing compassion towards people from all walks of life. The New Testament in the bible has been written in over 1,521 languages, so I’d know I can find a common ground with people from all walks of life. Having a tangible Bible would allow me to immediately be able to find verses that have helped me through hardships in my life, and explain how I’ve been able to overcome them. I’d hope to help someone who was going through a struggle of their own and share my story to connect with theirs.
