We all have fathers. Father, dad, papa, daddy, padre, old man; whatever we might call him, we all have one or have had one in our lives at one point. In many cases, dads play the role of the first dominant male figure we meet in our lives. For guys, dad is supposed to be our example of leader and guide. For girls, dad is supposed be our protectors and supporters. In many situations, there are brave moms who take dad’s role because of a possible death or absence of dad. Dad’s are suppose to lead a path for us, to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes they did. They’re the ones who teach you how to throw and catch a ball, the ones who introduce you to the family football team, the one who teaches you how to mow the yard, teaches you about cars, and maybe even the ones to help you on your first date. Fathers are our own personal guides through life. My father has been there for me throughout my whole life. He has been the one to teach me discipline, good work ethic, and love. Although he hasn’t shown me all those things the “right” way, the more I think back on it, the more I realize how his messages have stuck to me. Discipline is my dad’s favorite word. Starting from the age of 5, every time my dad would go do yard work, he would make sure to take me. Whether it was yard work at our own house, or yard work at a friends house, I was always tagging along. My dad made me start out by helping him pick twigs, sticks, and pine cones. As I got older, he’d teach me the different types of machines like the lawn mower, leaf blower, weed eater, etc. I never enjoy doing yard work. I’d always do anything to get out of doing it. When my dad noticed that I was doing my work with half effort, he would get furious. He would get up all in my face and yell at me. My dad knew I didn’t like doing yard work, so he especially make sure to prolong our time
