The economic recession was very difficult for NASCAR. Attendance at racing events deceased and sponsors left because of their own financial concerns. The biggest sponsorship hit came from the major U.S. automakers. Facing bankruptcy they could no longer afford to funnel in huge sponsorship dollars for NASCAR racing teams (Thomaselli, 2008). 75% of most racing team’s budget comes from sponsorship dollars. Over 70% of the teams drive a vehicle made a U.S. automaker which makes uncertainty around future competitiveness a concern. The recession had a big effect on NASCAR fans as well. Race cars fans could no longer afford the $91 ticket price for NASCAR events (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). They are did not have as much discretionary spending to
The green flag drops on the first race in The National Dirt Racing Association(NDRA). It doesn’t matter where people go, on some little road in a small town, people will find a small dirt track. The speedways are mostly always located in city areas where a large amount of people live. After a weekend of racing the teams head to the shop to fix the car up again. Despite the fact, that racing had been around since before 1978; whenever Mr. Robert Smawley introduced NDRA, and later Mr. Bill France introduced NASCAR, more people paid attention to the sport of racing.
Southwest Airlines is operating in an industry that is struggling to make profits. The slowing economic growth and raising fuel costs are lowering earnings while revenues remain the same. The macroeconomic factors affecting the airline industry include unemployment, the economic growth in the United States, and inflation. With low economic growth, consumers are finding luxury items more difficult to purchase and airline tickets for vacations fall into that category. Unemployment contributes to a lack of vacation travelers since individuals who are not employed do not have extra money for vacation or airline tickets. Inflation also causes operating costs of the airlines to be higher cutting into profits.

Throughout all of my research over the recession of July 1990-March 1991 I have concluded that it was not one of the largest recessions the United States has ever seen, but it was also not the smallest. This recession was only eight months long and did some damage, but not a lot. The Gulf War had the biggest impact on this recession along with the oil spill causing a rise of oil prices. The economy hit a low point and was not able to come out of it until the following year after the recession had already technically ended. Unemployment rates were at a low point towards the ending of the recession and because companies were hesitant about hiring new employees’ unemployment did not start getting better until the following year after the recession ended.

Attendance at sporting events can be affected by many different factors. One factor that affected Major League Baseball (MLB) was the economic crisis that started in late 2007. In a study conducted by Hong, Mondello, and Coates (2013), they investigated how the economic crisis affected attendance in MLB during the 2008 and 2009 seasons (p. 140). In the 2009 season, the average attendance dropped 6.77% below what it was in the 2008 season (Hong et al., 2013, p. 140). Da...

Business capital assets can aid the economy during recessions, though it grows at a slow pace. The country’s national return from economic decline will mirror that of Washington’s because the capital’s economy profited drastically more than most states from stock option revenue and the high technology industry, software and dot com bonds. Before September 11th, the majority of air travel companies were already experiencing monetary problems thus any financial assistance offered to them by the federal government would have been improbable in quickening the rebound.
Though used car sales continue to contribute to a bulk of the revenue, a primary reason the company is struggling is because the younger demographic has not been buying cars. This lack of purchasing coupled with the fact that individuals and families are getting more life out of their automobiles is hurting the auto industry as a whole.

Even though schools are not a profit making entity, it is still important to note that at the end of the day they are not owing more than they are earning. The layoff will allow schools to operate in a less stressful environment and does not permit this deficiency to spill over on the students. It is heart-rending when such an action has to be taken but overtime it is the best thing for the institution. In some cases, some schools may rehire a few teachers which it rarely does happen and if it does a significant amount does not get rehire.
