The main cause of this was the fact that he was suffering depression months before the flight, trying to cope with a breakup with his wife. Paul managed to clear a multiple health tests taken a month before flying. A spokesman for Qantas stated, “Paul passed his annual medical check in February this year. He also passed his proficiency check in November 2015, which includes simulator testing.” (Houghton, 2016). The fact that Paul was able to pass these tests displays the lack of depth that Qantas have in assuring pilots and staff are mental fit for flying. Griffith University psychiatrist Harry McConnell explained that, “ Mental health checks could not pick up sudden changes in stability and called for pilots to more readily report warning signs of their peers to managers.”(Houghton, 2016). The main problems facing Qantas is terms of addressing mental health is that the tests lack depth, are easy to pass and their aren’t enough tests to fully know what the staff are
D1: I have decided to look at a 6 year old going through bereavement. Bereavement means to lose an individual very close to you. When children go through bereavement they are most likely to feel sad and upset about the person’s death. Children at a young age may not understand when a family member dies. Children may not understand bereavement. For example a 6 year old’s father been in a car crash and has died from that incident. Death is unpredictable and children can’t be prepared for a death of a family member as no one knows when someone is going to die or not. Unfortunately every child can experience bereavement even when a pet dies. It is important that we are aware that effects on the child so we can support them in the aftermath.
According to chapter twelve in “Work Accommodation and Retention in Mental Health” employers have an economic and a social interest in the mental health condition of their workers. There is recognition that the workplace environment can either help or hurt the productivity of long term employment which is why there has been a shift from a medical to social model of workplace health. As stated by Perez and Wilkerson “Fifty percent of those who miss work because of mental or emotional problems will take either 13 or more days off, or will never return to their jobs” (as cited in Work, 2010, pg. 295). Large multinational corporations like Johnson and Johnson have adopted ideas of keeping the workplace healthy with an understanding of the

Health shapes our life, if you practice bad health practices, chances are you’re often sick, overweight, disease, or other medical issue. There are three main points of a person’s health, not just their physical health. The three parts are; social, mental/emotional, and of course physical. Setting health goals depends on age, body, and health of a person. I am 14 years old, and I am 5 feet tall, around 100 pounds. I’m generally the correct size for someone of my age. Though, it’s hard to achieve perfect health.
My experience in mental health clinical was very different from any other clinical I had before. In a mental health clinical setting, I am not only treating client’s mental illnesses, I am also treating their medical problems such as COPD, diabetes, chronic renal failure, etc. Therefore, it is important to prepare for the unexpected events. In this mental health clinical, I learned that the importance of checking on my clients and making sure that they are doing fine by performing a quick head-to toes assessment at the beginning of my shift. I had also learned that client’s mental health illness had a huge impact on their current medical illness.
What it means to be healthy are the ways in which you treat your body positively. This would include emotional, physical, mentally, socially and the foods you consume on a daily basis. In those aspects it would mean to keep your body in good shape, keep yourself emotionally and mentally stable, and having a good relationship with not only the people around you but with yourself. Being healthy to me does not mean that you do not have a disease because, there are people who have diseases but are healthier than some of us who do not have a disease. Being healthy means to give your body the proper nutrition it needs and not stuffing it with processed and unhealthy foods.

When thinking of my overall health, a few aspects stand out that I think I could definitely improve on. When I think my current personal wellness I think it is fairly decent. There are definitely people out there far worse than myself. It could be better because there is always room for improvement. I’m a big fan of personal growth. To me if a person decides to stop growing or wanting to better themselves either mentally, physically or emotiontally. Then whats the real purpose for living? I am a fairly active person. I love to hike, stay fit and eat healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t hard for me which I think definitely contributes to a wellness.
