Website Blocking
at Dagang Internet Cafe
1. INTRODUCTION
Web blocker plays an important role in enabling consumers to limit web browsing activities and to protect users and their computers from accidental or intentional exposure to IT security threat Technology can be used to limit what sites users can access. This has obvious benefits for consumers and web filtering technologies today's advanced and highly reliable.
The Dagang Unternet Cafe want to block all users of a Windows PC from opening certain websites, regardless of the browser they use. There have only make a few simple additions to the Windows hosts file. This method is straightforward and free, and it doesn’t require to download or install any additional software. It's an effective method for restricting users at the Cyber Cafe of all ages from seeing the content shouldnt want them to access.
2. COMPANY BACKGROUND
A cafe internet or cyber cafe is place which provides internet access to people, usually with payment according to time rate. The Dagang Internet Cafe located in Jalan Zamrud, Batu Pahat that provide Internet access without filter any website that is not supposed to be accessed by customers, especially those under the age of such students. Dagang Internet Cafe was the first internet cafe in that area with Broadband line is a Broadband 1MB and now the Cyber Cafe use a 200 MBps fiber internet. The cafe is a place where many people play online games especially the student and some of them always access the website should not. There have 45 computers.

Assume the Youtube.com website to blocked, type 127.0.0.1, tap the spacebar once, and then type the address of a website you want to block. For example, 127.0.0.1 www.youtube.com at the bottom line as the Figure 5.
Click File, Save to commit to your changes. Dismiss any warnings from antimalware software, which may be triggered by your editing of the hosts file.

The blocked sites should not display in any browser. This happens when the website youtube.com after blocked from being accessed.

Such an enormous investment is, out of necessity, coupled with legislation and bureaucracy. In 2010 the People's Republic of China released a white-paper via their Information Office detailing its policies for implementing and regulating the Internet (Xu). Delegating control to over a dozen government organizations and detailing 18 specific laws or decisions regarding China's Internet, the document is nothing if not thorough (Dance to The Revolution). Despite this, it is largely seen as a propaganda piece, prompting one American writer, Rebecca MacKinnon, to compare the reading of the white-paper to perusing an article in The Onion. The comparison of a legislative document to a publication known for witty and scathing parody arises from the stark contrast between the spirit of the Chinese laws regarding Internet Censorship and their practical, day to day implementation (MacKinnon). For example, the 2010 white-paper states:
The use of censorship by one side to gain power over another is apparent throughout history. The development of technology has posed several issues for both parties, both making censorship more and less difficult to enforce. This is especially prevalent in today’s society, where the internet has ensnared the current younger generations with its social networking and online entertainment industries. Even further detrimental to this modernized culture is how this freedom has prevented anyone from efficiently limiting connections to these such sites. The place where internet censorship is most commonly present is in schools, where it raises many issues and questions about the effectiveness of installing the filters. Rather than censor the internet, we should educate its users and take steps to make it more open.
It was concluded in this study that extreme control over the Internet will only disadvantage a country. Besides keeping the information technology sector out of date, the economy will not grow to its potential and at the same time, shelter the people of a country from information that they have the right to know. Nonetheless, there should be some level of gatekeeping and control over the Internet that is aligned with the freedom of speech and expression.

The Internet is a wonderful place of entertainment and education but like all places used by millions of people, it has some murky corners people would prefer children not to explore. In the physical world society as a whole conspires to protect children, but there are no social or physical constraints to Internet surfing.
The internet is an endless network of information; however it is not without its dangers, which is why website filters should be used by schools. Many people have been arguing lately over whether or not we should use website blocking software and firewalls in our schools. The answer to this should be very obvious. When you step back and take a look at all the good that these filters do, you realize that we need them in our schools. By using these filters, we make sure our children are not exposed to inappropriate content and media, we make it easier for students to conduct research, and we make sure the internet is not distracting our kids from learning.
Every child from teenagers and teenagers from adult uses internet like Wikipedia, YouTube and various type of social media among many other sites in everyday life in most of the countries. The internet is open to everyone except parental control. The Internet, global network is being the important part of our life these days. Just imagine that you heard the notification sound in your phone and run to the phone to check your message or important email. You are expecting an email or message from your dream University, where you are trying and trying to get enroll in and they are the one who is sending you some important information on your admission and on your acceptant, but when you check your inbox there is a message from the server instead. Which says the message cannot open or Error because it contained some indecent material and this page is not available. Does this sound silly or ridiculous to you? It is the reality and this is the very similar situation in china. As you can see, the problem with the internet censorship is that it takes away your rights, freedom of speech and the chance of gaining useful information.

“Top 3 Benefits of Monitoring & Filtering Web Traffic for Schools” written by Team Gwava states one of the mentioned benefits are that these filters retain control of student access. This suggest that because of these restrictions, students may be held back from visiting websites or any internet feature the schools believes is not essential for school. This statement is blind to the fact that a large portion of the kids in school have cell phones that allows them to access any website wanted or needed and even though some of these cell phones may be off, there are apps out in stores such as Open Door that acts as a hack for students and lets them venture through any website wanted while on school wifi. Internet privacy and security has become the concern of many individuals throughout recent years. There are a very limited amount of laws that have been enacted to combat computer or cyber related crimes. This has become an issue because as the internet grows increasingly popular so does the criminal and immoral behavior that abounds on it. With these crimes gaining in impact, effectiveness, and frequency, there needs to be more repercussions for these crimes. The United States government needs to increase restrictions on the amount and type of data on individuals from the internet, to prevent the government from invading privacy of citizens and to prevent companies from storing browser histories of individuals, to then sell that information to ad agencies and other companies.
Crime is everywhere in today’s society. One of the scariest things is that you can become a victim of many different types of crimes while using your computer. Just last year there was a reported loss of $525,441,110.00 (www.ic3.gov) due to internet related crimes. This is because people are able to access another person’s personal information through the internet. You may even be committing crimes without even being knowledgeable of it by downloading illegal content. With activities such as these occurring every hour of everyday; the internet needs to become more restricted to help protect the public and industries affected by these sorts of crimes. Another major problem is the impersonation of legitimate websites to scam unsuspecting people. I believe that World Wide Web restrictions should not be allowed. I believe that they are not helpful to the people that use the World Wide Web. I feel that the restrictions on the World Wide Web at school are too strict. At school most sites you try to view are prohibited and they are totally harmless sites. I feel that at school the only restrictions that should be put on the World Wide Web are restrictions to pornographic sites. Even these sites should not be blocked because some harmless sites have web addresses that would seem like a pornographic site but end up being a totally harmless site. With the block at school some of these harmless sites are blocked and therefor limiting the web user who made need information from sites like these. Most students know better than to visit pornographic sites at school. So this block that forbids students to visit most sites just hurts the students learning ability in some cases. There should not be a block on the World Wide Web at school and if a student does visit a pornographic site then they should be prosecuted or disciplined.
