My web presence represents my identity as a human being, who amongst all the variables of life never ceases to miss an opportunity to live exceptionally. It was this fundamental aspect of myself that I think defines me most, and is the sole foundation of my web presence. Experience is a large part of my life, and I strive to get as much of it as possible from every circumstance and situation that I’m exposed to. In planning my web presence, I wanted to ensure that I was being whole-heartedly raw, expressing every euphoric moment to the late night internal conflicts.
The foundation of Web 2.0 established a new found way of communication and collaboration, encouraging information sharing, and according to Lever (2012), web 2.0 tools emphasize

That readership does not necessarily need to be very large” (Rettberg,2008). Because my aim was not an increased digital footprint but more an attempt to reach out to today’s youth, I made the decision to use one of the most popular blog sites among my age demographic to host my central node, reaching millions across the globe. “The blog is often seen as the successor of the homepage and as such it duplicates the classic approach to identity which is always under construction.” (Helmond, 2010).My central identity hub is a Tumblr blog, a customizable and entirely flexible platform for expression. Tumblr Blogs range from a way to advertise, to post images, personal posts and even to troll. The theme I selected is called ‘Issue’ created by the user ndrwjms, I selected the theme because it was simplistic and had 2 columbs, meaning that no attention would be divided amongst the themes of the page and the content. The layout was pre-set with a left hand sidebar, containing a title, description and potential presence for links. Although it is a set theme HTML coding can still be editing, along with easier web 2.0 methods to customize its appearance. I also applied endless scrolling, along with representing the identity of my message and myself by customizing the titles, descriptions, links and images used in the side bar. I decided on a change of font, replaced …show more content…
Twitter allows me to share posts, as well as receive them from any users wishing to interact. The “popular micro blogging tool” (Java, Finin, Song & Ting, 2007, p.1) keeps the reader connected with the like-minded community, through hashtags, retweets and trends. The profile of a twitter page is still an important platform for presenting ones online identity, regardless of how fixed the profiles aesthetics are. This means the core of the page lies within status updates, allowing the user to “type oneself into being” (Helmond, 2010).
It also gives me the opportunity to gain potential readers, by interacting with individuals with similar blogs and creative interest. My own tweets are thoughts that appear throughout the day, quotes, song lyrics or theory that has inspired
In the article “ I Tweet, Therefore I Am” (2010), Peggy Orenstein explains that social media such as twitter can express who you are as a person and make you come to the realization of how your life is defined. Orenstein supports this explanation by giving her own personal experience on her twitter experiment. The author’s purpose is to point out that not all people who are hooked to social media have lost the disconnection of feelings along with relationships between people. Orenstein writes in a reflective tone for students and adults.
Whether walking down the street, at a party, or even looking through the App Store, chances are the name "Twitter ' has stood out. Twitter is a social media site that allows it 's users to post news updates in real time, socialize with other users, or even just to view the most recent events going on in the world. It can be used as a modern-day newspaper, a text-messaging service, or even a blog. In David Carr 's article, "Why Twitter Will Endure", the main topic of discussion is how long this utility would last among us. In his article, Carr clearly and eloquently expressed his views on why Twitter will endure, through the use of his own ethos and logos.
“Nothing is perfect.” Though social media brings us uncountable convenience, there is a trade-off with the convenience. Due to the advanced technology we have, social media has become part of our life, which it means that social media could determine our sociability. In Peggy Orenstein’s “I Tweet, Therefore I Am,” though she praises Tweeter for its convenience, at the same time, she also worries that “(Tweeter) makes the greasepaint permanent, blurring the lines not only between public and private but also between the authentic and contrived self.” Since we don’t care about who we talk to, we might act abnormally due to our feelings, and

Twitter is an online social networking service that has grown to a global scale. In 2006, it was created for people to be able to share short blurbs of information with each other, and it has done its job quite well. However, like most technologies, there comes consequences, good and bad, that many didn’t intend, or expect, to happen. Twitter has greatly affected the world, and society as a whole, as it affects everything from the news to even how we think.
This is because the effects of the medium on a personal and social scale as the extension of us can result from a new scale that is introduced into our lives by the extension of ourselves and by any kind of new technology (McLuhan, 1964, p. 7). In this case, the medium could be twitter. Created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams, twitter has proven to be the largest source of breaking news and social networking site. Since its beginnings, twitter is the medium
Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado” is a frightening and entertaining short story about the severe consequences that result from persistent mockery and an unforgiving heart. Poe’s excellent use of Gothicism within the story sets the perfect tone for a dark and sinister plot of murder to unfold. “The Cask of Amontillado” simply overflows with various themes and other literary elements that result from Poe’s Gothic style of writing. Of these various themes, one that tends to dominant the story as a whole is the theme of revenge, which Poe supports with his sophisticated use of direct and indirect factors, irony, and symbolism.
Social media is a revolution, which we are currently experiencing. It has changed the way people communicate and interact with one another, and opens up many more avenues to share news, information, and just general chit chat. Social media is relatively quiet young, but is here to stay for the foreseeable future. We are now at a point where online, we can share, read and react to lots of individual information being posted on microblogging websites, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr and more. Twitter in particular has been widely embraced, and will centre most of the discussion.

Social media has become a major epidemic in today’s society. According to millions of people have signed up on social media websites, allowing their basic information to be shared with the world wide web. Two of the biggest social media websites today are Facebook and Twitter. The new generation tends to use Twitter over Facebook, the older generation prefer Facebook over Twitter. Though Facebook and Twitter serve the same purpose and have many similarities, they both differ in many ways.
“The Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.” Bill Gates. The Internet is vast and is just getting bigger. It has its own community that is open to the public. The Internet is becoming a platform all on its own. It is a stepping-stone in a direction that is unknown. The Internet has become so vast that there are now different versions of it. The different versions of the web are Web 1.0, Web 2.0, the main focus of this paper, and Web 3.0. Web 1.0 is all about sharing information. It is very bland and just gets the point across of what was needed. This how the Internet had started. Web 2.0 is sharing information with interaction. To me this means social media in some fashion. The website that was accessed has a way of interacting with the users whether it be through comments or giveaways on the web. Web 3.0 is the server interacting with the individual on a particular website. Amazon is the best example of Web 3.0 because it gives recommendations based on items that have been searched. “Among American adults 87% use the web, 68% connect...
