The Walton Activity Center had been established in 1992. The center was large enough to hold 1200 seats for individuals that wanted to visit the center. In the year 1998 the press had made public announcement to the public that they Anita Scism was being appointed as the president for Walton Art Center. The company had opened in Fayetteville, AR. Scism was the 2nd president whom had been over the Walton Arts Center. Anita Scism had been recommended but the former president at the company Bill Mitchell. Bill felt as if Anita Scism was the perfect candidate for the position as president. Anita had worked as Director of Financial Affairs before she actually became president at the company. The organization had values, a vision and a couple goals
My second gallery review is on the work of Philip Denker. I analyzed the art work at his exhibit; OVER + UNDER”. I saw his exhibit Friday November 15, 2013 at 11:00 am at Trifecta gallery inside the arts factory. When I walked into the room I loved that the room was illuminated with the light of the light bulbs, as well, with the natural illumination of the sun coming through the glass windows and door. When I got inside the room I also noticed it was spacious, and the pieces were very well ordered. The pieces were hung vertically or horizontally, and I liked this because it got my attention.
Many situations present the important synchronization of internal versus external negotiations. Many individuals have studied how each side in the negotiation is able to manage the internal opposition to agreements being negotiated. This can also be known as “on the table”, or what exactly is on the line in a heated argument. Each individual involve in an argument has a particular position to be managed, and often times own personal interests are widely expressed. This paper will expand upon the case of Fischer collecting needed funds from Smith with proposals and ideas for a manageable negotiation.
Home Depot is built on the principle of creating value for our stockholders while never forgetting our values. We seek to be profitable, responsible, and balance the needs of our communities. Throughout our company, our associates are challenged with finding ways in which we can provide the best products for our customers, provide the best possible work environment for our associates, have a positive impact on the communities in which we operate, and provide excellent returns for our stockholders. Working in a Store Support Center, rather than a corporate headquarters, their leadership team knows that the most important people in the fabric of the company are the store associates and store leadership teams. Frank Blake was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Home Depot in January 2007 (Sellers, P.).
On February 16, 2014 at two-o-clock in the afternoon, I visited The Ashby-Hodge Gallery in Classic Hall, located on the Central Methodist University campus in Fayette, Missouri. The gallery has hours of 1:30-4:30 PM on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. A person can call to schedule a private tour of the gallery. This is good for teachers that want to take children on a local and educational field trip.
Education is why people attend college, hundreds of thousands of students are thrown onto campuses across the world and get involved in various campus clubs; however, despite their vast amount of differences, these kids share one similarity, they all brought their video game console. On move-in day almost every dormitory has some kind of gaming console. It is a common denominator that students share, that they can bond over. The PlayStation 4 is of the latest generation of consoles and by some considered the premiere gaming console. The Sony PlayStation plays all the latest games in stunning quality, run apps seamlessly, and can play almost any media, it is the perfect media device for college.
The Tampa Museum of Art was not always the same museum that we see today. It went through multiple stages throughout the years. The works vary, creating a large spectrum from the old to the new. The social angles change with the exhibits in the museum, combining to create the diversity we see today. Visiting this museum in person helped me to appreciate it even more than I would have thought possible. Observing and analyzing the other visitors helped me to understand the museum’s impact on the community more than I would have been able to just by reading about it. This museum is much different from others than I have visited.
Have you ever been to Iowa State University and seen all of the magnificent art that is located on campus? Iowa State is home to one of the largest campus public art collections in the United States. There are over 2,000 works of public art (George Washington Carver). The foundation of the contemporary Art on Campus Collection and Program began during the Depression in the 1930s, when Iowa State's President Hughes envisioned that, "The arts would
One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
The metropolitan museum is the largest art museum in the United States, and one of the largest in the world. Upon going to the museum I found myself wondering how I can choose three artifacts out of nearly a million different relics. After spending countless hours roaming the three story museum and looking at the vast amount of artifacts I found myself overwhelmed with inspiration to write this analysis. The only dilemma was how one can narrow down the selection to three relics out of hundreds of thousands. After sometime I picked the three relics that I found interesting, spiritual, and showed a significance in modern and ancient history. The three relicts I will discuss in this essay are the following; Family Tree, Emperor’s Twelve-Symbol Robe, and lastly Mans Shirt, these three artifacts show in my opinion how god, the spirit and the universe all reflect upon the individual wearing the clothing/stories painted upon the person.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services is an independent government agency that tallies the number and type of museums in this country. By their count, there are 35,000 active museums, this represents a doubling of the number estimated in the 1990s (Ingraham 2014). Colorado has around 200 museums and five dedicated to African Americans (Visit Denver, 2016). The Black American West Museum started in the barbershop of the founder, Paul W. Stewart, out of his love childhood love for “Cowboys and Indians. Stewart moved to Denver as an adult and met his first real-life black cowboy, after being told there was no such thing as black cowboys. Exhibits at the museum include the history of miners, buffalo soldiers, pioneers, cowboys, early explorers,
Edgar Allan Poe is a famous writer in writing detective stories and horror stories. One of his horror stories, “The Cask of Amontillado” was talking about how a man took his revenge to his friend. However, to look deeply in this story, I found that this story was not just simply a horror tale about how a man gets his revenge in the safest way. Instead, it also demonstrates much irony in several areas: the title, the event, the season, the costume, the environment, the characters’ personalities, a man’s dignity and cockiness and at the end, the public order. he are
This weekend I visited the Chicago Art Institute, and more specifically went to the exhibit: Never a Lovely So Real: Photography and Film in Chicago 1950-1980. I took the train down early in the morning, and spent a while walking around the exhibit, and another hour or two exploring the museum. The title of the exhibition comes from a book on Chicago from 1951 in which Nelson Algren, the author, says, “Like loving a woman with a broken nose, you may well find lovelier lovelies. But never a lovely so real.” The photography collection took up most of the bottom floor, and focused on Chicago as a city of neighborhoods, divided and completely separated from each other. Although segregated for each other, the collection of neighborhoods demonstrates
This opinion piece focuses on an issue that I have never really thought about before. After reading it, I talked about it with my friend Craig and asked him what his opinion was. He did not even think about it and said that museums should not be free. He said people should care enough to pay for the admission. However, I personally do not think it is that simple. Craig has never been to an art museum. I know for a fact that if the Gibbes Museum of Art was free, we would have gone there together long time ago, and we would go there more than once. We have never been there because, even though $7 per student is not much at all, we always find another way to spend $14 when we have it. Should art museums be free then, so that anyone can afford to go anytime they want to?
The subject of art conservation and restoration has long been debated in the art world. Experts and historians have never agreed that all art must be salvaged at any cost. This paper will examine what art conservation and restoration is, what is involved in these endeavors, and what has been done over the centuries to many of history’s cherished art pieces.
Today I went to the Verde Gallery to see the “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste” exhibit. After wandering around downtown Champaign, I found the gallery on a small side street off of Neil. When I walked in, I saw a large group of people sitting at tables in the main room, and had no idea what was going on. I did not see anything that looked like the exhibit I was looking for. After going to the bathroom, and unknowingly walking past half of the exhibit, I came back to see what all the people were gathered for. A man had just began speaking, and I heard him mention something about an exhibit co-sponsored by the Brown v. Board Commemoration, and figured that maybe crowd was there for some special program related to the exhibit.
