In the present time, the great revolution of technology has changed the map of the competition in journalism world which has begun to turn into two different aspects; which are: printed newspapers and online newspapers. Recently, printed newspapers are endangered and have almost disappear. However, lot of people believe that the traditional newspaper will never be replaced by a computer screen. This essay will highlight some possible reasons and suggest some solutions.

One of the main threats that traditional newspapers facd is when the publisher published their electronic edition. This is they do not use papers, so they do not harm the environment. Unlike the printed once, which use a lot of papers and they are not environmentally friendly. Also they need workers. Whereas, the online are not necessarily labour intensive. Furthermore, the online newspapers are frequently up to date and can be circulated widely and cheaply as well. In addition, people thought electronic newspapers are more attractive. Another reason for the disappearance of traditional newspapers is that the electronic newspapers are much cheaper, if not free. In addition, people do not want to spend money to know the news. This is could be a the reason for the decline of the printed newspapers income (Salem, 2011).
Another reason for impact of the online newspapers on the printed newspapers is that the electronic ones are available at anytime and anywhere. Traditional newspapers are just sold in the stores, newspapers stands and some of the supermarkets. Consequently, a huge number of people prefer to read the news no matter when or where on their own mobile phones or computers without going and buying a newspaper. Another way to tackle this problem is that the companies or the publishers should influence the different generations who use the social network to read and know the news, through hashtags, tweets, Facebook groups & posts, enhancing this expanding force is key to reviving the newspaper industry and it could be the way for viewers to start buying the printed editions (Davalos, 2013).

In conclusion, all things considered, it is clear there are a number of causes for printed newspapers losing their audience. Even though people say: “Print is dead. Online is king”, by taking all the solutions above in to account traditional newspapers can be saved (Halbrooks).
