Annual Strategy Meeting This meeting is designed not to add another item to your plate, but to take a critical look at what your chapter has accomplished over the year, where it struggled, and where you want it to go in the upcoming year. This meeting is a closed meeting, attended only by chapter officers, the affiliated dealer, any discretionary persons (lawyer, accountant, banker, etc.) and your District Regional Manager, if he/she chooses. The history of the Western hemisphere is full of war and conquest. One of the most significant and defining of those conquests is the downfall of the Mexica/Aztec Empire. While there are many other events to choose from, this one stands out since it was one over one of the largest empires in Central America. It is also important to look at because of the immense cultural impact it had. The story of this takeover reads like a movie script, a small band of Spaniards single handedly takes down the most powerful empire in Central America. It was an epic battle, which unfortunately led to the destruction of a magnificent culture. As in any major historical event there are many underlying themes and storylines that come together to make the event happen. The Spanish conquest of the Aztec is no different. Three major themes are seen in this struggle. One of them is the incredible advantage that the Spaniards technology gave them over the Aztecs. A second major theme is the greed that fueled the conquests in the New World. The last major theme was the effect of the political divisions and rivalries within Montezuma’s Central American Kingdom. As this historical event progressed each one of these themes began to intertwine until they became an almost unstoppable force.
Allstate insurance is the second largest property and casualty insurance company by premiums in the United States. Allstate insurance handles about 12% of the U.S home and auto insurance market. (Allstate, 2014). Many of Allstate’s customers fall under what one could refer to as a traditional selection of insurance for automobiles. Recently, Allstate has noticed a major shortcoming in lifestyle insurance, which includes coverage for motorcycles, boats, and other recreational vehicles, in comparison to its competitors. The motorcycle insurance sector is a 10.4 billion dollar industry and growing (PRWEB, 2012). The U.S. Department of Transportation website reports some astounding figures, including that 5,370,035 motorcycles were registered three years before the article, 7,138,476 motorcycles registered at the time of the article, and grew to 9,477,243 registered motorcycles at the end of 2012 (NHTSA, 2013). It is obvious as to why Allstate would identify motorcycle insurance as a worthy lifestyle product to devote marketing research dollars into in order to develop new strategies for cornering a share of the market.
I am now the Vice President, and along with the other officers, we oversee over 120 members. We visit local elementary schools and tutor the kids twice a week. Furthermore, we conduct service projects every quarter, such as harvest drives and toy drives. Last year alone, we collected over 1,100 toys for a local orphanage and over 125 cans of soup. Although the year is young, I feel very optimistic about the things we will achieve and the impact that we will continue to make.
The Meeting is a play written by Jeff Stetson that portrays the theoretical meeting of Malcom X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The play’s opening scene shows both men on opposite sides of the stage with spotlights on them. They take turns speaking to make it seem as if these interactions are happening at separate locations and at different points in time. We can assume they’re being interviewed because we hear a voice offstage asking the men questions. However, in these interviews, neither man is known by the public for accomplishing anything, almost as if the revolution they created had never happened. Here starts the tale of how a (LEGEND) came to be. In 1903 William Harley along with Arthur and Walter Davidson of Milwaukee,WI began experimenting with an internal combustion engine in a small wooden shed, amazingly the shed doesn’t burn down and the motorcycle that was built in it goes over 100,000 miles under 5 owners. And that was just the beginning, soon after that first bike being built; it began to happen. A cheap reliable form of transportation was needed in the country. Henry Ford’s automobiles were a little expensive for the average family. So a niche opens up for the motorcycle. Though there was no cutting- edge technology in their design, it worked. The trio had just brought a single cylinder engine (based on a DeDion design) and tube type bicycle frame together. Painted in gloss black, that first machine was admired by friends and family - now it gets interesting.
Finally, as a member of the Student Leadership Council, I have developed meaningful relationships with peers, advisors and community leaders, some who share my views and others whose views are utterly different from mine. I have been able to grow tremendously from my association with Students Against Destructive Decisions. Thus, it is my desire to continue volunteering for the Students Against Destructive Decisions Student Leadership Council, even after I graduate from high school, because it has been such a meaningful and rewarding experience. It is my hopes that I will be able to some day facilitate a Students Against Destructive Decisions Program in my community, as there is an urgent need for positive adult mentors.
As an active leader in several organizations, I have had the opportunity to reach out to several different groups of youth throughout my years. The utmost prestigious role I have gained is my Area IX Office in the Texas FFA Association. Being an area IX officer had been my goal since freshman year, and I finally accomplished it this past May. Over the course of the past few months, we have held several leadership camps, but I feel our highest success has been the Area IX FFA Leadership Camp held in June.
These are people who in one week, not only became lifelong friends and mentors, but were able to teach me valuable lessons about life, friendship, and leadership that I will carry with me throughout life. The group leaders were able to teach me lessons that I would not have gotten anywhere else. The National Youth and Leadership Forum opened many opportunities for me as a young adult and I would not have changed it for the world. The conference taught me not only leadership skills but allowed me to meet people and form bonds that I never thought

The company’s revenues had grown at a compounded annual rate of 16.6% since 1994 to reach $4.6 billion in 2003—marking its 18th consecutive year of record revenues and earnings. In 2003, the company sold more than 290,000 motorcycles, giving it a commanding share of the 651+cc motorcycle market in the U.S. and the leading share of the market in the Asia/Pacific region. The consistent growth had allowed Harley-Davidson’s share price to appreciate by more than 15,000% since the company’s initial public offering in 1986.
Harley-Davidson, Inc. has a long-standing culture of relationship nurturing with its customers – of association with its customers on personal levels. Owing to this, customers look at Harley-Davidson as not only a company, but as also a family to whom they owe their loyalty. Harley-Davidson is an example of a company which has a loyal (brand) following and its customers aid in future sales via marketing based on the consumer. The company has been doing business since 1903; according to its website, “Four young men experimented with internal combustion in a tiny wooden shed. Not only did the shed not burn, but the motorcycle they built went on to serve over 100,000 miles” (Harley Davidson, n.d., p.1). William S. Harley in 1901 came up with a blueprint of a motor for fitting a bicycle. Arthur Davidson later joined him, and they then built the 1st Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

In this paper the topic of the Triumph Motorcycle Company’s history will be covered from the very first motorcycle Siegfried Betteman and Muaritz Schulte Betteman built; to the motorcycles the new owner John Bloor and his 600 employees are building at the Hinkley factory in Great Britain. Triumph Motorcycle Company has been overly concerned about the quality and performance of the bikes that leave the shop. With their concern, the company that started from strapping a motor to the downpipe of a bicycle has made it through two world wars and a depression. They changed that simple concept to a highly engineered and well thought out quality bike.
Women are seen as still being relatively new in the Harley Davidson world and they are working hard to cultivate these relationship. A common theme is that women are not taken seriously when it comes to the topic of motorcycles. Leslie Prevish, who previously worked for Harley Davidson, is a big promoter of women ridders and created the “garage party” to market to women (Zube, 2013). KTM is an on and off-road motorcycle manufacturing company that has established itself as a player in the European off-road industry with a 13% market share. The European motorcycle market in general has been in decline for the past three years and is forecasted to have even slower growth in the coming years. The off-road market in America, however, has much more potential than Europe because of its open spaces and the sport’s continued rise in popularity. Currently, the CFO of KTM is facing the challenge of achieving the growth needed to facilitate BC European Capital’s exit from its 49% stake in the company. While analysts favor a merger with Ducati, KTM executives also have the option of growing in-house. KTM should look to the growing off-road market as a means for growth in-house and should therefore avoid a merger with Ducati just as the company avoided a deal with Harley-Davidson because not enough synergies exist.
