“Land of the free and the home of the brave.” This line has represented the United States for decades. These words were captured in The Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key and since 1913, the United States has adopted The Star-Spangled Banner as its national anthem. We have used the Red, White, and Blue as one of our nation’s symbols. It has fifty stars, to represent the number of states we have in our Union. The military pledges its allegiance to the flag and the country which it represents at all costs. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave, and we are proud to show it.
MacArthur gave a long good-by speech to the members of Congress. I personally had never heard of MacArthur until this assignment. Before analyzing the speech, I conducted research about the speaker to know a little bit about his background. Then, I observed the context of the speech and how the audience reacted to his statements. After doing these two things it was much easier to understand and form my opinion about the speech.
America’s veterans should be honored because they have suffered through so many hardships that others could not and have not survived, and they did it for their country that they loved and still love today.
In our world, there are people who judge mostly on everything or anyone. Living in a world which people judge on people’s appearance is an unfair judgment towards the person due to the fact of not knowing who that person is. That’s why segregation was a huge part in history during the pasting of the Civil Act of 1964. The definition of segregation is the enforced separation of different racial groups in a country, community, or establishment. During the segregation it was basically a battle between the white people and the black people. This battle made it where at the point blacks had their own school and the whites had their own school, so they wouldn’t have to be near each other during this time. The story “Battle Royal” is a story that can relate towards segregation. In the story “Battle

Throughout history when the word military is said , a strong man is what comes to mind. Former first lady Michelle Obama is known for strongly believing in women being powerful and educated. She took a trip to North Africa in summer of 2016 to address gender- based issues.(Michelle Obama Biography) That does not come as a surprise since she gave her November 18 ,2009 speech Speech Honoring Women in the Military at women’s history month. She performed her speech to her audience of veterans and to the viewers at home hence her speech is online for anyone whom wishes to watch. Anyone who was able to see this speech can tell how empowering and grateful Michelle Obama is for the women in the military. In her speech Michelle Obama uses anecdotes about the veterans and repetitive phrases to show the fact that there are many powerful and strong women in the military that should be honored for their astonishing accomplishments.
On April 30, 1967, Riverside Church, in New York, Martin Luther King gave a speech about how the Vietnam War was wrong in front of three thousand people. Most of his audience was church leaders. The speech was about twenty minutes. He stated that he is not only preaching about God, he also cared about the conditions of Vietnamese people in the war. In his speech, he claimed that the war was evil and unjust and it should be stopped. Martin Luther King used unexpected words, religious imagery, and his credibility to show the ugly side of the Vietnam War in his speech.
There are too many American veterans that are forgotten. It is very easy to place a flag on the lawn, stickers on a car and a quick thank you in passing for services rendered, but how many civilians actually know what that thank you is for? For sacrificing their time, doing what many Americans are not willing to do, exchanging hardship for holidays and of course protecting and ensuring this fine nation’s freedom. What is not thought of is the silent suffering that comes with the apparent glory and the inevitable aftermath of physical, mental and emotional turmoil.
I am requesting to have a national holiday designated about a citizen who significantly helped the Union during the civil war. This citizen is David Farragut and I hope you will feel as strongly about his contributions as I do and will demonstrate to you.
Australia Day, celebrated on the 26th of January every year, is a nationally recognised day that signifies the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet. It’s a historic event that also marks the beginning of the oppression of the Indigenous people, that still can occur today, no matter how much the Government has tried to atone for the sins of the past. Australia Day is a day of celebration and mourning, a fact that contributes to the constant bickering between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous. There are many who believe that the meaning behind the modern Australia Day is overshadowed by the past, which will prevent the nation from moving forward, much like Ben Roberts-Smith who published an opinion piece in the Herald Sun on the 26th
To me, Veterans Day is an important holiday because it bring attention to those who deserve it most yet get overlooked. I feel that any person willing to put their life on the line or in stressful, complicated circumstances for the betterment of others deserves praise. In my opinion, veterans are the unsung heros of this nation and stand as inspirations to all, including myself.
On October 10, our grade threw a Veteran’s day assembly for our whole school. My role in the Veterans day assembly was decorations meaning I had to decorate the whole gym. My partner was Joey. Joey and I came up with some great cute decor for the gym. We had two posters, paper flowers, stars etc. I personally think the gym turned out amazing! The Veterans day assembly turned out great! We had music, a slideshow, a few speeches, a poem etc. We did have a little trouble towards the end of the assembly, but other than that it turned out swell. After, the Veterans day assembly was over we got to hang out and serve food to the veterans. I even met this one veteran who brought all his medals and had a purple heart! When the veterans left our grade

Many people believe that leadership is simply being the first, biggest or most powerful. Leadership in organizations has a different and more meaningful definition. A leader is someone who sets direction in an effort or task and influences or motivates people to follow that direction. The power point presentation explains leadership is the influence that particular individuals exert on the goal achievement of others in an organizational context.
