He wanted “vegan” be the term to describe the people who did not consume meat, eggs, or dairy. Today, vegan is used to describe a diet or lifestyle that does not include any animal products in general. A diet without meat, dairy, eggs, or any other animals products is argued on whether or not it is a sustainable and healthy way of living.
To begin my search, I thought it was best to search for books from the Northwest Library about being a vegetarian. Most of the books about vegetarianism were cook books, but I did find one called Going Vegetarian: A Healthy Guide to Making the Switch by Dana Meachen Rau. The book contains good information about making the switch from being a meat eater to a vegetarian. After finding a book, I thought I should some of the

As people know, here in Los Angeles it is hard to find a restaurant that only provides vegetarian food; therefore, I decided to cook by myself. I will put some photos of my food here. Based on my experiences, being vegetarian for these 6 days was wonderful. I felt more healthy and more powerful, and I felt more freedom that I didn't kill a soul (animals) for these six days. As I said above, being vegetarian can help to create a better environment and it is true.
In brief, a vegetarian diet is one that avoids all animal flesh. The vegetarian diet is rich in fruits and vegetables, legumes, nuts and other protein-rich foods. A vegetarian diet is also one laden with grains. There are four different categories of vegetarianism. These include the vegan, the lacto-vegetarian, the ovo-vegetarian and the lacto-ovo vegetarian. Vegans exclude all animal flesh, eggs, or dairy products including foods that contain these products. The vegan diet includes all beans, legumes, vegetables and fruits, grains and the infinite number of foods made by combining them. Many vegans do not eat processed foods using animal products, such as refined white sugar. A lacto-vegetarian diet allows dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt and butter while excluding animal flesh and eggs. In the ovo-vegetarian diet, eggs are included but not dairy products. The last type of vegetarian is a lacto-ovo vegetarian. The lacto-ovo vegetarian diet includes both eggs and dairy products. Finally, because vegetarian diets exclude animal flesh and restrict eggs and dairy, it can be difficult to ensu...
The main health benefit is that a vegan diet is richer in certain nutrients. When ditching a typical western diet, you will find yourself in more of a whole-food plant based diet that consist of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, peas, nuts and seeds. These foods contribute to a higher daily intake of beneficial nutrients. According to (Petre, 2016) “Several studies have reported that vegan diets are more likely to provide more fiber, antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds. They also appear to be richer in potassium, magnesium, folate, and vitamins A, C and E.” b.

If a vegan diet is rich in whole foods such as complex carbs, leafy greens, fruits, and plant based protein; health benefits are above and beyond the requirement. These foods contain the essential amount amino acids the body requires for optimal health.
It’s comforting to eat vegan butter, cheese, and meat to transition away from animal products. Unfortunately, none of these foods promote health. They’re only slightly better than their counterparts.
Vegan life is healthier for the nutritional benefits are better when compared to non-vegan eating. The majority of people in the world consume a diet, which contains food derived from animals. Those who have animal derived diets follow such a diet due to commonly known nutrition benefits and taste that come with the diet. Although, most people were told that such a diet was healthy, they wouldn’t follow such a diet if they knew the harm that came with it. Furthermore, several people know they require fruits, vegetables, and grains, according to the commonly known food nutrition chart. However, some people do not know that animal derived food is not necessary and that there are other healthier foods to replace them. Vegan diets follow the food chart needs without consuming food that come from animals by replacing the nutritional benefits that come from animals with plant-based foods that also have the same nutritional benefits.

The vegan diet can be a very healthy way of life. There have been some research studies that have shown vegans are significantly lower in weight, they have lower blood pressure and lower levels of cholesterol than normal vegetarians and meat eaters. These health benefits are apparent because vegans consume more dietary fiber, about two to three times more than their meat-eating counter parts, which have been shown to reduce cholesterol, blood glucose levels and protect against colon cancer. Their diets are higher in potassium, magnesium, folic acid, vitamins C and E and the health-promoting phytochemicals which have all been proven to reduce the risk for heat disease, arthritis, prostate and other cancers, and may improve bone health (Vegetarian Diet). Vegans are less likely to suffer from heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoporosis and some cancers because they consume such high levels of plant foods (Vegan Diets: The Pros and Cons). Within the three movies we have watched so far, racism has played an important role. “The Birth of a Nation”, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, and “Redtails” all take place during the 1900’s, when racism was widespread. According to Dictionary.com, racism is defined as: “a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human racial groups determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others.” Although all three movies take place in the same time period, we see different scenarios.
