A role model is someone that is sought for guidance, and often admired. When thinking of my own role model, the qualities I wish to have when I become an adult come to mind. When scanning through the many influential adults that have shaped who I am today, deciding on just one role model is a difficult feat. However, I see the person I wish to become, reflected in the life of my dad. For that reason, my role model is my own father.
Not Only am I a role model to my classmates, but I am also a role model to my younger family members. I show this through following the rules of where I am at during the time and teaching them the rules along the way. I am also a role model to them by not giving up on my goals and teaching them about the importance of family and how you should spend quality time with the people you love. The third and last reason I exemplify the traits of leadership is because I lead by example in the community. I show good manners like please and thank you along with opening doors and helping other people. If I see someone that is struggling to carry something or if they drop an item and need help picking it up I do not hesitate to step in and help the person in need. I have observed that a simple smile and a friendly gesture of hello can go a long way when being nice to someone to make their day better in anyway I know how to. These are the reasons why I personally exemplify the traits of someone who shows
...t and plight of an oppressed African culture in a Eurocentric America. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., unabashedly and incessantly wielded his most prolific and natural Gardnerian power, the power of interpersonal intelligence - to preach and practice his espoused Gandhian philosophy of nonviolence. In the process, King gave up a quiet private life, security for himself and his family, and ultimately his life.
True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would want to have in the near future and those who interest us in a way that make us want to be a better person. They teach us more about ourselves and encourage us to make better choices. A role model is not just someone who is successful, but someone who has had similar experiences that we have had. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee demonstrates that Atticus Finch is a true role model. Over the course of the novel, Atticus stands up for his beliefs, respects everyone despite who they are and behaves as a true father. Atticus is truly the ideal role model.
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” (www.brainyquote.com) Dr. King, a true inspiration, a true man, and a true hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an inspiration to me because he gave people freedom and equality. Without him, blacks and whites would of probably never been treated as equals. What would life be like without Dr. King in America’s history?
My second choice was evangelical Christian leader, activist Billy Graham. Mr Graham believed in the word of the lord and his teachings reached millions of people, who eventually gave their life over to Christ. Graham was against segregation and was insistent of integrating racially, especially in churches and at his gatherings. Billy Graham was originally born as William Franklin Graham Jr. He was the eldest of four and had lived on a dairy farm with his parents, before moving. After graduating high school, Graham was almost expelled from a college he attended. He then transferred to a bible institute in Florida, and gave his very first sermon at a church nearby. In 1939, Graham was officially pronounced a minister, and 4 years later graduated
There is two type of role models. The one that you look up to and the second type is the role model that you want to learn from and do the total opposite of that person. In the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. The main character is Arnold Spirit Jr. who goes by the name ( Junior) . It is based on Sherman Alexie childhood but mostly his life in high school. Junior is a role model but in his own way , his actions show qualities of what would be called a bad role model, but his actions afterwards show otherwise. He is a young man who has a huge heart who is a good role model, Because he has control, preserves ,and he cares about others, but the strongest qualities out of all are he has hope, unlike
Who comes to mind when thinking about who the best role model is? Is it a friend? A sibling? Possibly a parent? For me, When thinking about who the best role model to have is, one person in particular comes to mind. She has been there my entire life, has seen me through thick and thin, and always supports me in everything that I do. The person that I consider to be the best role model is my older sister, Kelly. To this day my sister and I aren't joined at the hip, and I don't speak to her everyday, but my sister is still one of my closest friends. Growing up we saw things differently, but as I grew up and saw my sister go through life with a confidence still unrivaled, I realized she was the one person who I could count on to pick me up when
Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister who declared that blacks and whites have the same and equal rights. Since the blacks and whites didn’t have the same rights it led to the March on Washington in 1963 (History.com). The March on Washington was a famous part in history because that is where Martin Luther King gave his famous speech called “I Have a Dream.” This man fought for equal rights and never backed down. King Jr. was many people's hero. He is my hero and inspiration. Even though martin Luther King Jr. didn’t see his dream come true I believe he knows it came true. Martin Luther King is an inspirational person in my life because of his bravery, leadership, and he is a good role model.
Oprah Winfrey: An inspirational role model. Many people find someone in his/her life to look up to, a role model. There are many different kinds of role models; they can be singers, public speakers, a parent, or even a friend. Role models are not determined by certain criteria.
”Role models are highly important for us psychologically, helping to guide us through life during our development, to make important decisions that affect the outcome of our lives, and to help us find happiness in later life”(Thomas). Thomas advises people on how important role modeling is and how it can help adolescents find happiness in later life. “First, the use of role modeling as a teaching method in secondary education is assessed. Second, adolescents role models and their moral qualities are identified”(Sanderse). Sanderse implies that the moral qualities are identified as well as their role models.
Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. To me a role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. They help shape someone’s personality, and characteristics. They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. There are no words that can describe my gratitude towards her, but through this essay I will describe some of her characteristics that makes her my role model.
