Each person has different values in life, which they live by. When I think of the values were held in the past, I imagine the “Love Comes Softly” series by Janette Oke that was also made into a movie. The series is based on values of Christ, family, love, respect, and honesty. I would say these would be the values I live with on a daily basis. Each value plays a different role in life you can have one without the other, however when put together I feel it is a powerful combination. Christ or in the movie, he was called "Clarkes God” was always front and center. Love may not be noticed until it is full force or until it is ready for you to appreciate it. Marty and Clarke were not ready to fall in love again when they met, nevertheless love found them when they weren’t looking. All to often Love is given to freely. It should be something earned, cherished and protected. Love needs to grow over time, sometimes love may feel like it is dying, all it just needs a little help to progressing again. Clarke shows his love for family and friends in every action, and every word, he shows it by lending a helpful hand to those in need and also in the discipline he shows his children and grandchildren in the series, Clarke is a man of respect all through the series not for the fact he demands it, he is shown it due to the way he is, such is the same for Marty and the children with in the whole series. Within the Love Comes Softly series the family lives by their word and by the word of God. They are shown respect since they deserve no less. A countless number of people believe to get respect you need to show it and yes, I agree, although even if you do not show respect you should always present it. A situation may turn out different if you just showed a person respect. I was raised to show respect, no matter what and I strive to live with
