A Different Value System—A Different Calling! by Rev. Paul Zabel The world's value system can be summed up in one phrase: "The more you have, the better off you are!" This statement is true to a point. It is good to have more, if what we have is beneficial. We can apply this statement to, say...cavities – and find it to be false. It would be foolish to say that the more cavities we have the better off we are, unless, of course, we are a dentist. It all depends on how we define the "more" in our lives. What is our value system? Now, money is not evil. The pleasures of this life are not evil in and of themselves. Yet, the gauge we use to define these things, or the level of importance they hold in our lives, can be dangerous. Again, what is our value system? How do we define our worth? The Apostle Peter answers these questions I Peter 1:18-19: "for you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you by your forefathers, but with the blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect." We as Christians are different because we don't find our hope in money. We don't place our security in the pleasures of this life. We as Christians are different because we define our value and worth on Christ and His work of salvat i on . The blood of Christ is far more valuable than all the gold in the world. The blood of Christ ensures us that we have treasures in heaven. Christ's sacrifice on the cross has atoned for our sins. Our sins are w ashed away. His resurrection from the dead assures us that the price demanded for our salvation by God the Father has been fully paid and that our resurrection is also fully guaranteed. We have God's Word which reveals this t... ... middle of paper ... ..., let us hold on to the only lasting, valuable treasure we have – the Word of God . The Bible shows us that we have an "inheritance that can never , spoi l , perish , or fade. " Only the blood of Christ could set us free from sin and open heaven to us . God's Word is our lasting heritage. Only God's Word can call us to appreciate the freedom of forgiveness. W e value our heritage and freedom. But perhaps, this is why even as Christians and as a church, we sometimes find that we are not walking together as we should. And it is for this reason that the Apostle Peter urges us as Christians to remember the extravagant price, which our Saviour paid to claim us as His own. We are different. We belong to him. And so, without apology, God calls us to be different. So, if someone says, "You Christians are so different or even strange,” just smile and say, "Thanks be to God!"
By observing people I know that if you own less you are more appreciative of things in life. Yet if you own more you desire more. Therefore you become a slave to your passions and lust, rather than an owner of your possessions.

Value is someone’s moral standard of right and wrong, and is based off of one’s motivations or aspirations of life. Common values include loyalty, patriotism, and trust.
An instructive and stirring string of verses, this passage from the Bible holds great relevance not only for the Ancient Israelites to whom it was spoken, but also acts as a herald to Christians today. This passage forms part of Moses great oration; his instructive teaching, advice and counsel narrated to the second generation of Israelites who required redirection before moving forward into what God had for them. Similarly, it is also relevant for all Christians as we remember what our faithful, loving and powerful God has done in the past, and what he requires of us to move forward.
Following the assumptions by Van Parijs, we could also question whether women's higher life expectation could be due to biological reasons. In order to introduce this topic, we can use Paula Casal's Love not war. On the chemistry of good and evil. She develops during her article the main biological reasons for different life expectations by sex.

Valuing something does play into part by what we sacrifice in different ways to others. Holding something close to heart can only be determined by what was sacrificed in order to achieve it, and this ties into King Lear from Shakespeare’s play. Lear willingly gave up his land for his daughters to inherit; however, this affected the outcome of the values and his life that emerged out of it.
“We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.” Responsibility is a big part I am at college and have a job here today which a reason for everyone but for me that didn’t sit in till freshman year of high school I was care free until football. What I had to do was to work together on the field also in the classroom or I would let the team down. Our coach always told us there is teamwork, hard work, and respectful will follow us around for the rest of your life that’s what we are going to learn. I would have to say looking back on it I definitely learn those things from what I did make a better person I would have to thank him for that too.

During everyone 's lifetime, there is always something we hold closest to our hearts; it maybe our principles we live by, values, and even our own beliefs. Values are those things that are very important to us but never really realize how much we actually value them in our life. Have you ever been asked to define three of your main values and rip them up? I have and I never noticed how much they meant to me. Each and every one of us believes in our own personal values. These values are what gives us strength and strive us to do what makes us happy. These values are very important to us and are standards that we live by whether we realize it or not. Everyone has something we value including me. Some of the values I might think highly of,

Understanding who we are as individuals can be a struggle for people throughout life. It can be difficult to comprehend who we are and why we exist. There are daily outside influences that help create who we are and what our values are. Values play a significant role in our lives. They shape the choices we make and reveal a big part of our identity to the world. Some values may be more important than others, but they still manage to influence our lives in one way or another, whether we know it or not. Values can range from a tangible item to an idea that has influenced us to stand by and remember those values. The values we hold with the highest importance act as a guide and help us prioritize our purpose and goals in our daily life. My family has taught me a list of values and traits that have helped me become a well-rounded individual. I value my family more than anything because most of my core inner values have started from their teachings at one point or another. My top values that I have developed from my family are dedication, honesty, and wisdom. I will discuss who I am in terms of the important values that shape my personal belief system and decision making framework that, in essence, describes the direction of my life.
Value is the wish that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or utility of something or principles or standards of behaviour; one's opinion of what is significant in life . As human beings, there’s things we value as such, as material and physical values, economic values, moral values, societal values, political values, aesthetical values, spiritual values and rational values. As humans, we would like to think we are in charge of our own values and what is worthy of our desires (instrumental values). Merely this is incorrect for there’s intrinsic values, values that are valuable for the grounds of their nature such as life. For lesson, our human body demands water, why do we drink water because we need to life, but why do we need to life?
