Uruguay is a country located in southeastern region of South America, bordering between Brazil and Argentina. The capital of Uruguay is Montevideo. Uruguay is the least corrupt country in Latin America. It is ranked first in the region for democracy, peace, lack of corruption, quality of living, e-Government, freedom of press, size of the middle class, prosperity and security. Interesting is that there are more sheep in Uruguay than humans with having 9.7 million sheep compared to only the 3.4 million population of Uruguay. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, the United States was the most dominant power in the Western Hemisphere. European nations conceded to the United States their right of any intervention in the Western Hemisphere and allowed the United States to do whatever they wanted. The United States took this newly bestowed power and abused it. The United States intervened in many Latin American countries and imposed their policies on to these countries against their will. A perfect example of this aggression is what occurred in the Dominican Republic in 1904. The United States intervened in this sovereign nation and took control of their economy and custom houses. The trade winds and sea breezes make coastal areas more habitable than temperature would allow. Cuba has a ‘dry season’ between November to April and a ‘wet season’ between May and October (Kapcia).
