"We cannot close ourselves off to information and ignore the fact that millions of people are out there suffering. I honestly want to help. I don't believe I feel differently from other people. I think we all want justice and equality, a chance for a life with meaning. All of us would like to believe that if we were in a bad situation someone would help us." Angelina said this at a UNHCR Goodwill Ceremony after being named Ambassador for refugees. For many people, Angelina is just that, the person that helps. She was born in Los angeles, California. For most of her childhood she lived with her brother and mom but when she was 6, her and brother moved to New York with her dad. Five years later, they moved back. She is selfless, brave and strong. She is a hero and an inspiration to many. One quality she has amongst many other heros is selflessness. When she is in refugee camps she asks the civilians what they think can be done to make things better and writes them down. Along with that, she is also a motherly figure to all of the children. Just having someone there that is similar to a mom can make all the difference for these kids. Another quality Jolie possesses is bravery. She is continuously speaking up for those who have little voice and is making sure she is being heard. Even against groups like Isis, she has not backed down. She has just recently appealed in court to get more aid to help Syrian refugees. A big quality that heros need is strength, and Angelina shows that in many aspects of her life. After all the things she has seen in other countries, it might be easier for some people to turn a cold cheek but she does just the opposite. All of the disaster and heartbreak just pushes her to do everything she can to help. Also with her past of being self destructive, she has reached out to many and inspired many people to keep fighting for a better tomorrow. Something known as the “Angelina Effect” happened when she underwent a double mastectomy after being tested positive for the BRCA1 gene. This had a mass effect on many of the women in the world, encouraging them to take precautionary measures and getting tested for the
