Social media has changed the way we communicate with others in addition to how we communicate with others around the world. Before the digital era, men and women wrote letters, and traveled days, even months, to communicate with one another. Twitter is a company that has contributed to the transformation of social interactions. It is an online news and social networking company that allows users to interact with one another. Hashtags are another thing that Twitter is known for that links similar words and posts to one another. People from all over the world, with access to Twitter, have the opportunity to view and communicate with this advanced network. Depending on who is asked, the workers many have different reactions about his or her employment for the company. A white male may feel more powerful and authoritative whereas a female, Asian or other minorities of the company may feel uneasy or mistreated in the work environment. The issue primarily has to do with ethnic diversity and the lack of culture in the workplace. As for the overall progress, there have been people of minority hired within the company to counter some of those statistics. According to Fortune, the overall percentage of women who are employed with Twitter has increased 4 percent from last year (Lev-Ram, 2017). The article also talks about how having a more diverse work environment can also lead to a large advancement in technology. These men and women with engineering and software analysis degrees are being recognized at conferences. Twitter was able to participate in some of those events in hopes to reach out to some of those qualified men and women. With how opinionated people can be, it is hard to support a company that does not practice equal rights. Not only that, but men and women may not want to work for the company any longer. It was previously mentioned that Twitter is accessed all around the world.
