Twine is a game development platform that is relatively simple to use and allows one to create an interactive narrative. These games are played by clicking on certain portions of text in order to advance to the next section of the narrative. The Temple of No is a nonconforming twine game about the adventures of either a man, woman, or frog. In this game you follow the character through a short narrative to find a map that knows everything. The game was released by Crows Crows Crows and co-created by Dominik Johann and William Pugh; they created the game in effort to re-create the idea of a twine game and give the player an enjoyable experience. Many aspects of this game align with Miguel Sicart’s definitions of play. Sicart describes play in …show more content…
When reading the story it is very clear to tell that the creators of the game wanted the player to laugh. Another goal of the narrative is to get the player to agree with the story about a couple of things; one is that The Temple of No is one of the best games to come from Twine and another is that the story is fun. They want to make the player feel like they are making a good use of their time by reading the story and make them feel like they are getting something out of it. These goals and purposes of The Temple of No are what makes the story autotelic and they are the reason that the narrative is able to captivate the …show more content…
The fact that the game was made on Twine is a big reason that it follows Sicart’s definition of play being creative. Sicart explains that play provides a form of expression. When creating a game through Twine, it is very easy to provide different forms of expression whether it be funny, sad, motivation, or maybe even informative. The Temple of No has a very witty, amusing feel to it. The writer was able to express his personality and sense of humor through the story of the man, woman, and frog, and give the reader feel for his charisma and emotions. Creativity is also expressed in an artistic manner through the drawings that went along with the story. The creators even went as far as to put an entire song with lyrics into the story simply to entertain the reader and provide extra
The imaginative recreation of sport as play has become the world. There is not the slightest sign here of any other reality; even the existence of a creator external to the play-world may now only be inferred (Berman 219).
Hence, upon analyzing the story, one can conclude the certain themes that parallel through the pages. Firstly, a theme of unity and trust is present at the end of the play. This is supported by the image of the cathedral, which is a place of unity. Most importantly, the notion of equality among people is the main theme within this story. The narrator starts as a biased, idiot, who dislikes all people that are not like himself. He even at times is rude to his wife. Ironically, it takes a blind man to change the man that can literally see, to rule out the prejudices and to teach him that all men are created equal.
The structural and technical features of the story point towards a religious epiphany. The title of the story, as well as its eventual subject, that of cathedrals, points inevitably towards divinity. Upon first approaching the story, without reading the first word of the first paragraph, one is already forced into thinking about a religious image. In addition, four of the story’s eleven pages (that amounts to one third of the tale) surround the subject of cathedrals.
Hello. I am Daniel Gardner. My story today sets back a few years ago in a car. I look out the window from the back seat to see a beautiful blue sky with pearly white clouds scattered across the sky like dice. The sun glows across the sky like a beacon of hope. It reflects off of the sand as if it is beaming off of glass. The luscious variety of green grass with the bountiful palm trees sway softly with the breeze. The light turns green and we start to fly past it all as if time speeds up. we pull into the driveway to see not a beach house. But a mansion. We walk in and see the decor of the house as if angels have come through and done it themselves. We were finally on vacation.
When they decided to end the game they all said that they would want to play again. The play observation illustrated Huizinga’s play detentions in terms of free activity, no material interest, own boundaries, and fixed rules. One person suggested to play hide and seek and the rest decided to join knowing that there is no material reward. The A team added their own rules in order to create their own boundaries. In addition, Eberle’s play framework elements of pleasure and strength were displayed by the game because each player demonstrated enjoyment during the game and they enhanced their strength by running quickly. The game also illustrated Brown’s play properties of play being voluntary, and how it diminishes consciousness of self and a desire to play again. Like stated before, every player decided to play at their own will no one forced them to. Moreover, each player did not care who played or how everyone looked like, no one felt self-conscious. Lastly, when the game ended each player said they would want to play
Play is defined as an open-ended set of ‘non-serious’ activities, chosen of free will in lieu of ‘serious’ or ‘ordinary’ activities. The distinction between ‘serious’ and ‘non-serious’ is not intended to characterize the mental state of a player because, more often than not, a silly game is still a mentally absorbing activity.
In the, very quickly expanding, city of Woodbridge, Virginia, there is a resurging issue of gang activity. The predominant gang found in Woodbridge is known as MS-13, whose activist’s extend through several towns and city’s including portions of Washington DC. This gang was thought to be “decimated” (Jouvenal, Zapotosky, 2014), in the last few years, through prosecutions against both high and low ranking members, leaving the gang scattered and unorganized. However, since then, they have quietly reconstituted and are beginning to resurface, appearing stranger and more violent than ever (Jouvenal, Zapotosky, 2014).
One aspect of the play, that may stick with the audiences, is the crude song and actions performed by Nowadays, Nought, and Newguise. The three characters, that represent the temptation of sin, sing “It is written with a coal, it is written cetera/He that shitteth with his hole, cetera./But he wipe his arese clean but he cetera/On his breech it shall be seen on his cetera.”(336,338,340,342). The crude lyrics stick with the members of the audience. In the play, the three vices act like fools, showing the audience how bad one looks while giving into temptation. The lewd actions and jokes act as a defense for the play. Even if the play gives in to lustful, bodily pleasure, ultimately the audience will take with them the message of how bad lustful actions look.
Although I have lived in what I now know is called Monroe Township for sixteen years of my life I have never attended a race at the Grove. I thought that this paper would be a golden opportunity to answer some of the questions I have raised in the previous paragraph. Although I have those questions, I do know a little bit about Williams Grove and what goes on there. Williams Grove Speedway is a dirt race track where on Friday nights from spring to fall sprint cars race. These sprint cars are a type of race car with a wing on top of the body and different sized tires. They make a ton of noise an...

The purpose of this paper to is reflect back on the Story Based Learning (SBL) group project. I will discuss the use of my strong relational practice still that lead to the development of group round rules that allowed us to communicate with each other. I will discuss how the challenges our group faced as: ineffective communication and one of our group member lack of preparedness. I will give you my personal feelings about the SBL assignment and our presentation. Next I reflect on the peer feed back received and reflect back on my own performance..
I learnt that the game is meant to teach players about poverty in developing nations. The game emphasizes the opportunity cost that families in developing nations must bear if they want to get ahead in life. A family typically has to pick between health, education, happiness and money as the primary goal. The game shows me that you can never have it all and there will have to be a trade off when trying to achieve the goals set. It now becomes a matter of priority. For example, I had to choose who I would educate in the family and who the sole bread winner would be. The game
When a therapist uses therapy regimes or routines thought to be effective with problems identified and that are typically used with clients in that setting, the therapist is using the third clinical professional reasoning, procedural reasoning (Willard & Schell, 2014). Lack of exposure and knowledge again forces me to give myself a low score of six in this area because I am not ready to use therapy regimes or routines to alleviate client problems yet. The fourth clinical professional reasoning is termed narrative reasoning. Narrative reasoning is a process used to make sense of people’s particular circumstances; prospectively imagine the effect of illness, disability, or occupational performance problems on their daily lives; and create
Narrative Essay It all started my sophomore year of high school. People always tell you that when someone knocks you down, you should always get back up and keep trying. I had this mindset at the beginning of my sophomore year, but I ended up letting a teacher knock me down to the point where I did not get back up for a couple of years. I never expected my second year of high school to go so awry.
Many details point out the absence of (meaninglessness of) traditional time, which is just one of many ways that the play resists interpretation and meaning:
