In today’s world many people are trying to eat locally grown food, but is it worth it?
Before, many people were trying to eat organic food and thought that was the healthiest option. Now, people believe locally grown food has better benefits than all other types of food. In stores, for example Kroger, I have seen signs above produce that say ¨Local.¨ This sign allows people who are interested in buying locally grown food where the local food is in the store. I have only been to a farmers market once or twice in my life, but I found it to be a good experience. People who want to only eat local food have probably mostly only shopped at farmers markets. Many different people have their own definition of what local means. This is a problem because if everyone had a different definition of what ¨buying local food¨ means, then someone trying to join the movement will not know what definition to listen to (Source C). People will not understand which definition is right, so they will come up with a whole other definition for themselves. There will never be a definite meaning of what local means because people live in different places. As shown in Source G, the cartoon portrays how the penguin does not understand what locally buying means. He just assumes buying locally is purchasing any type of food at his super market within a 100-mile radius. The rabbit said his definition of buying local food is buying it within a 100-mile radius, any distance beyond that does not mean local. This definition got changed when he told it to the penguin, because the penguin interpreted the meaning differently. This is an example of how there can not be a definite meaning. People will always interpret it differently, and there can not be a locavore movement without a set definition of what local
