Trinculo in The Tempest by William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare's The Tempest, Trinculo is a minor comic character whose main ambition is to align himself with whomever is the perceived leader in any situation he finds himself in. He is an intrinsically sociable person, and he gains whatever social rank he can through positioning himself in accordance with those around him, but never seeks to be the leader. In this way, he is the perfect jester, always seeking to stand by the king's side.
The trio of Trinculo, Stephano, and Caliban is formed in Act II, scene ii, when first Trinculo, and then Stephano, make their first appearances in the play. When Trinculo comes onstage in line 19, he believes he is alone on a strange island with a storm looming. In the process of looking for shelter, he stumbles upon Caliban, whom he initially does not recognize to be human, but believes to be 'a strange fish.' (II.ii.25-26) Stephano appears next and the dynamics of the trio is immediately apparent with Stephano as the leader.
Stephano's source of power comes, as much from the wine he possesses, as from his natural acceptance of being worshipped by Caliban. Contrasting Stephano's natural leadership is Trinculo, who evolves from being a person alone, utterly terrified, and seemingly grateful to be able lie next to a dead islander to bear out the storm, to a person who stands next to that not-so-dead islander's object of adoration, Stephano, and criticizes the islander for being such 'a most ridiculous monster, to make a wonder of a poor drunkard.' (II.ii.135)
By the end of Act II, scene ii, Trinculo is confident he is aligned with his new leader, Stephano, when Stephano proclaim...

... their social status restored. But Stephano does not follow their example. He does not show remorse for his actions, but shows attitude instead. When Prospero asks Stephano, 'You'd be king o' the isle, sirrah.' (V.i.284), Stephano arrogantly responds, 'I should have been a sore one then.' (V.i.285)
So Trinculo follows a new leader, who also happens to be his old leader. We have learned that he doesn't posses the independence or leadership that Stephano dared to. But instead, Trinculo is happy following, as long as he is held in some kind of position of esteem. We can almost hear him on his way back to the ship now, telling King Alonso, 'Wilt come? I'll follow.' (III.ii.136)

Did you know that over 830,000 Germans died during Operation Barbarossa? Operation Barbarossa was the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union enacted by Hitler and carried out by Nazi troops. But the Nazis were not the only ones who suffered colossal losses. The soviets had over 4,000,000 military casualties, but somehow, the U.S.S.R. defeated the Germans and was able to shove them out of their land. This defeat definitely had a major effect on WWII’s outcome due to the massive Nazi force that was allotted to Operation Barbarossa and their failure to take command of the U.S.S.R. The key points of Operation Barbarossa were who planned it, why they planned it, the events that had major effects on the war, and Germany’s failure.
In September of 1942, the German commander of the Sixth Army, advanced his troops to the city of Stalingrad where Hitler ordered the Wehrmacht to secure the oil fields and take Stalingrad. Stalingrad was a target location due to its manufacturing and center of communications for parts of Russia. Hitler had extra motivation to take Stalingrad because the significance of the name, it was named after the Soviet Russian leader Stalin. Russia had been war torn and devastated from previous attacks and battles from the Germans, they knew they had to persevere and hang on along enough to defeat the German Army. The Soviets did have somewhat of a warning of the German attack, they shipped out cattle, grain, and other main supplies, but most of the civilians stayed. Hitler was very confident he could take this city down without losing major causalities. While Hitler was planning the attack the Soviet Marshall Zhukov was planning a major counterattack. Marshall Zhukov had 6 armies of 1 million men ready to attack the Germans. Both the Germans and Soviets had flaws in their attacks but, t...
The battle fought between the Soviet Red Army and the Nazi Wehrmacht over the “city of Stalin” for four long months in the fall and winter of 1942-3 stands as not only the most important battle of the Eastern front during World War II, but as the greatest battle ever fought. Germany’s defeat at Stalingrad ended three years of almost uninterrupted victory and signaled the beginning of the end of the Third Reich. In this way, Stalingrad’s significance was projected beyond the two main combatants, extending to all corners of the world.
Cancer is the term used to describe a group of diseases consisting of hundreds of ailments and although there exists so many different types of cancer, they all begin in a similar way. The body is made up of over a trillion cells, and cancer is the uncontrolled growth of malfunctioning cells in the body (Dawson, 1996). “Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion. During the early years of a person’s life, normal cells divide faster to allow the person to grow. After the person becomes an adult, most cells divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells or to repair injuries” (American Cancer Society, 2012).
The time would soon come for Hitler to seek out his revenge on the nation that delayed his imminent world domination. One year after the siege at Leningrad, Hitler’s once indestructible Axis power had begun to weaken. Hitler began to see his dream fading away. He realized that to maintain hope, he and his army must remain on the offensive, so he decided to go after his most glaring defeat, which was Russia.
Autonomy means that an individual has the right to make choices about their life (Burkhardt et al., 2014). Any individual of legal age with full mental capacity has the right to refuse treatment. The individual’s choice must be respected even if it is not what the healthcare provider has recommende...
The development environment has been theoretically proposed to be relevant to the etiology of ASPD. (Shi and Bureau, 2012, p.54) While many other studies have been carried out to find relationships between antisocial behavior and delinquency, very few have attempted to find the relationship between the caregiving environment and antisocial behavior. Three other relevant studies have been conducted; establishing a connection between developmental processes and early aggression, conduct disorder, and young adolescent to adolescent delinquency. Maltreatment in childhood has also been associated repeatedly with antisocial behavior. (Shi and Bureau, 2012, p. 55) The only issue most psychologists have been facing is simply that antisocial behaviors have only been measured with no diagnostic information so far. While some studies have shown that maltreatment in early life is ...
Prospero, Trinculo, and Stephano are in control of Caliban, the deformed son of Sycorax, and therefore Caliban is their slave. "Monster lay-to your fingers; help to bear this away where my hogstead of wine is, or I'll turn you out of my kingdom. Go to, carry this. In act 4, scene 1, lines 250-253, Stephano told Caliban to carry something for him, or he would be out of his kingdom. He treats Caliban like dirt because he is their slave.
According to Merriam Webster dictionary an antisocial personality disorder or APD is a personality disorder that is characterized by antisocial behavior exhibiting pervasive disregard for and violation of the rights, feelings, and safety of others starting in childhood or the early teenage years and continuing into adulthood. It has been proven that some violent offenders often commit crimes mainly because of their psychological state of mind. Individuals who suffer from antisocial personality disorders generally are intelligent and charming however, they are severely troubled. This disorder prevents any type of relationship to anyone to be created and often find them in trouble. “this often masks a disturbed personality that makes them incapable of forming enduring relationships with others and continually involves them in such deviant behaviors as violence, risk taking, substance abuse, and impulsivity.” (Siegel, 2009 pg.148).
John Wayne Gacy, Tim Bundy, and Ottis Toole are all infamous serial killers that suffered from a certain disorder. That disorder is called antisocial personality disorder. The biggest question that we have for these men is what triggered these non-empathetic men to commit such heinous crimes, was it mostly biology based or environment? Or do both factors share an equal amount of blame? When it comes to what is the exact cause of antisocial personality disorder, researchers and scientists are unable to come into an agreement. More or less, scientists agree that this personality disorder is caused by a combination of environmental and biological factors. While most scientists are able to agree what environmental conditions serve as precursors for a child to develop antisocial personality disorder characteristics in life, the problem continues to be what internal chemical imbalances are occurring to create this disorder. This ongoing question has been thrown to the public to ponder over for many years. At this time, there are no guarantee of wrong or completely right answers, but only theories to the causation of the disorder. By examining multiple biological theories, along with their fallacies (if any are presented) will we detect what the most probable cause is for this disorder.
Prospero treats his two servants in very different ways as their behavior and attitudes towards him are contrasting. From this, the question arises why he treats his equally hard-working servants in different ways and if he is wise in his actions.
Both environmental and genetic factors have been questioned. Genetic factors have been suspected since the incidence of antisocial behaviour is higher in people with an antisocial biological parent. The environment is also contributes to the factor of antisocial behaviour. Studies have shown that a person whose role model had antisocial behaviour, is more than likely to develop the same behavour. According to Psychology Today (2017) Approximately 3 percent of men and one percent of women have antisocial personality disorder. A much higher percentage exist among the prison population.
Researchers today still don’t know what really causes Antisocial Personality Disorder. Although there are many theories about the possible causes and most professionals use a biopsychosocial model of causation. According to this model the causes of ASPD are likely a combination of biological genetic factors, social factors and psychological factors. Examples of social factors include how a person interacts in their early develo...

In this book , Esposito provides a succinct, up-to-date survey of the Islamic experience, an introduction to the faith, belief, and practice of Islam from its origins to its contemporary resurgence. He traces the emergence and development of this dynamic faith and its impact on world history and politics. He discusses the formation of Islamic belief and practice (law, theology, philosophy, and mysticism), chronicling the struggle of Muslims to define and adhere to their Islamic way of life. Equally important is the essential information Esposito provides on the contemporary world of Islam, from Muslim responses to the challenges of colonialism and modernization to the reassertion of Islam in politics and society.
