Development of treadmill for health and medical care
This research looks at the development of treadmill for health and medical care. It will touch upon the origin of the treadmill from its invention for agriculture uses to how it has developed for health and medical care in the present. It will also list the usage of treadmills in the medical field, some advantages and disadvantages of treadmills and common features treadmills in the present have.
Ever since the first treadmill was invented for agriculture uses over 4000 years ago, much improvement have been made to them and today, treadmills are no longer commonly used for agriculture but for health and medical purposes such as keeping fit, being a training machine for athletes, rehabilitation as well as carrying out stress tests to diagnose heart diseases. A treadmill is an exercise device consisting of a continuous moving belt on which a person can walk or jog while remaining in one place (“treadmill”, n.d). The aspects explored are the advantages, disadvantages, purpose, uses for health and medical and improvements to treadmills as well as the development of treadmill from the past to present. Common features of treadmills in the present will also be listed, along with the advantages of such features. It will also touch upon the main group of people who use treadmills. This research will tell us how the development of treadmill has benefitted health and medical care.

We see that the estimated VO2 max for the treadmill is slightly higher than that of the arm bike. This happens because walking is something she does more regularly, and estimated VO2 max scores are higher2 in tests with modes of exercise the subject is more use to.

Each of these Curve franchises is set up relatively the same. It is a structured circuit training routine that combines strength training and cardio. Exercise doesn’t only helps an individuals' physical health, it likewise helps their mental aptitude, which can help them improve in school. Studies demonstrate that high schoolers who do cardiovascular exercise - like running and swimming - have bigger brains (Henshaw 3). One school study has indicated that 30 minutes of strolling on a treadmill enhanced learners' critical thinking abilities by 10% (Henshaw 6). That is a whole letter grade, so the effect is clearly not minut.
Not only is walking a simple way to exercise, but it also has a lot of benefits, “The cardiovascular benefits of walking are biologically plausible; like other forms of regular moderate exercise, walking improves cardiac risk factors such as cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, vascular stiffness and inflammation, and mental stress” (Harvard Health.). Despite not breaking the biggest sweat during and after walking, given the benefits, it is obvious that walking is an effective way to exercise. Although walking is minimal and often overlooked as a way to exercise, it can decrease cardiac risk factors and improves mental health due to endorphins released while exercising. Walking is a way to increase heart rate and exercise the heart to make it pump blood more efficiently, which leads to a reduction in heart problems. By fighting obesity, walking also has the ability to create a higher quality of life, more body confidence, and decrease knee and heart problems for overweight people. Walking leisurely for even half an hour for 5 days a week, the recommended 150 minutes, can decrease common health issues and risk factors. Walking has the ability to modify a relatively out of shape person with various health issues into a thriving and well-energized person. Moreover, walking is a nonstrenuous way to exercise to create a healthier and happier
It is of utmost importance that these devices involve little or no disturbance to its user’s ordinary life and subsequently has many positive effects on their daily activities. Although as a nation we have a preconceived idea that Assistive Technology is complex, highly expensive products, this is not always the case. Assistive Technology devices can be characterised into low and high technology. According to Wendt, Quist and Lloyd (2011) low technology involves technological devices that are simple to make, are readily available and inexpensive. On the other hand high technology devices are often complicated,...
Exercise can benefit an individual in many ways. Through research I have found several articles which have been written throughout the years that address these benefits. This study done was to assess the effect of distraction on steady state exercise intensity when using a self-paced device (stationary bike). The general rationale of the study was to find if physical distraction, such as BP measurement would disrupt the exercise steady state. This part will describe the methods of this study, including: 1) Participants/Target population; 2) Experimental Design; 3) Procedure; and 4) Statistical Analyses.
People are too overwhelmed to think that it would benefit them. Even taking a jog would require too much of an effort. Because of society’s obligations, the worries of an average everyday routine bring them devastation. It becomes difficult to try to find time within their schedules to squeeze in a time to run. Adding exercise on their to-do list would result in more pressure while trying to reduce stress is the last priority on their mind. However, if they were able to manage their time and duties, making time to get involved in a cardio workout would not be a problem. They would be able to experience the true benefits of exercise and see how it could translate into reducing stress in their lives.
Ageing is a common process in life. With ageing, functional capabilities deteriorate and lead to major risk in health. So for older people, keeping them physically active is an important role in their healthy ageing. This will help them to maintain their independence and value their life as long as they live. Engaging in physical activity will reduce the risk of chronic conditions and improve the state of mind and well being. Being physically active by participating in regular physical activities has a major health advantage which has been well documented. Despite the advantage of day to day physical activity a large number of older people go ahead with their inactive way of life. This study was conducted in older people who live in LTC about their barriers in performing the physical activity. In 2007, WHO urged the researchers to conduct a study on the reasons of physical inactivity in older adults. This study was able to improve patient outcomes due to the fact that older people are aware of the importance of keeping themselves active and having a meaningful, healthy ageing life.
As mentioned in an article, “Avoiding sedentary time and getting regular exercise are both important for improving your health and survival; it is not good enough to exercise for 30 minutes a day and be sedentary for 23 and half hours” (Dr. Alter). Although human beings are not sedentary creatures, modern technology which include televisions, computers, and automobiles are tends forced people to spend far longer sitting down than standing up. Researches recommend that the health risk of sitting too much is less prominent when physical activity is
