If a registered nurse is looking for an opportunity to travel the world while fulfilling a passion in nursing, then a career as a travel nurse might satisfy one’s desires. It provides an opportunity to meet new people and explore an array of cultures.
Travel nursing is one of the nation’s fastest growing and profitable industries. “According to the U.S. Department of Labor and current Bureau Statistics, nursing careers are valued among the fastest growing occupations between 2008 – 2018” ("Is travel nursing right for you?," 2006, p. 15). Due to the high demand of a travel nurse, the nurse is able to choose the assignment, duration, location, specialty, and compensation he or she prefers.
The path and requirements to becoming a travel nurse is quite simple. The nurse will research staffing organizations and agencies in which he or she chooses to join, and in return, the agency will place the nurse with a hospital and/or private assignment.
