Traveling
RN jobs are available almost anywhere that people live. You can find a nursing job almost anywhere. Traveling is not necessary for most RN jobs other than traveling within a single or surrounding counties unless you are a traveling RN nurse. RNs can work in a doctor’s office, hospital, long term care facilities (LTC), and other caring facilities (“Summary”). In a doctor’s office an RN will work with doctors and other nurses to provide holistic care for patients (“Explore…”). In hospitals there are many different positions an RN could hold. A medical-surgical RN would take care of patients post-surgery, while a NICU RN would help newborn babies and their parent(s) maintain a good healthy life. In an LTC the head nurse is over all of the other nurses in the facility. The charge nurse is over the other nurses of that particular shift. In a hospital patients are cared for around the clock, twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Hospital RN schedules are set up on rotation shifts meaning you might have to work night or days, holidays, and/or weekends (“Job…”). In a doctor’s office, school, or health center regular business hours are normally maintained (“Job…”). If an RN works for a home health care agency then their routine patient visits are mostly scheduled during business hours. However, if a nurse is on call they may be paged and required to make a visit on any day, at any time.
Qualifications
To be an RN, a certain degree level must be obtained. The most basic degree is an associate's degree. Most places you apply to will look at your class grades, testing scores, and how you did in clinicals. Depending on what job/position you apply for, some previous experience may be required.

These are just a few of the different things to know about being an RN. There are many great reasons to being an RN. One of the most rewarding parts of being an RN is caring for someone that cannot care for themselves.
