There are some challenges involved in transitioning from a student intern to a qualified practitioner. Being a student intern was a great experience in my life where I learned chiropractic theory and knowledge and was practicing the different manipulation techniques. Being a qualified practitioner is a part of a job where I need to apply all the knowledge and skills that I have learned before. As far as I know, being a doctor in a real life is not same as being a student intern. both of them are totally different. For example, before this, I need an hour to perform a full history taking, physical examination, and treatment. In term of clinic flow during the student intern, it is far different from the chiropractic practitioner. In real life, a qualified chiropractor needs to prioritize care and quick pace of seeing multiple patients in a limited time period and this was considered as being realistic for the future clinical practices. Probably I will meet a maximum of 15 to 20 patients in a day, so I have to treat all the patients with the best treatment and management. In term of decision making, as a student intern, I have my own time to think and discuss with my colleagues and my clinicians if I am unsure on particular things, but as a qualified practitioner later, I need to think on my own feet, being more responsible on what I decided to do. I need to be able to make decisions about the type of exam to perform, where I want to perform the exams and how to address patient-care concerns. Apart from that, I also need to refer patients to other healthcare providers.
